    Crazy. What was the downfall of A&F is the only reason it was awesome. Once you say “diversity and inclusion” you’ve lost any real people. Sucks because I love vintage clothes from A&F and seek them out as a GenX. And I don’t mean frat-boy appearance, I love the old JCrew, Abercrombie and Ralph Lauren from mid90’s

    Thank you for this!! My area lately is flooded with Tommy Hilfiger and sub brands. And I bought the same version of your fake shirt but Tommy sports haha. Also-goodwill has fake levis at a concerning rate right now and not valuable 501s, just womens modern day jeans. Easy to detect by seeing if the back of the button has a number code, no code-no go. Thanks for all you do!

    I’ve seen various brands sell for far more than they’re worth, especially as you pointed out on their main website. According to a few Reddit posts, and other message boards, these “sales” are sellers buying their own items to boost pricing. Astroturfing is still unfortunately a problem yet

    My problem with wool sweaters is that they're too warm to wear inside because of heating. I can only wear them in winter and when I am (mostly) outside. It's probably no surprise that nearly all my sweaters are cotton. And funnily enough, the warmest sweater I own isn't wool either, it's a 100% cotton fleece (yeah, that's extremely rare but it exists).

    RRL is sorta the bread and butter of my wardrobe. There was Ralph Lauren factory outlet about an hour north of NYC. In this outlet would be RRL garments at a fraction of the retail price. Their $300 plus jeans would be a little over $100. Sadly this outlet closed its doors about 2 years ago. I’m glad I stocked up when I did over the years. I love their western shirts, sweaters and boots. I have a slew of their selvedge jeans. Can’t say enough good things about RRL.

    Cotton. Less durable than wool. Interesting. Blue jeans vs wool pants of any weave. Cotton tshirts vs wool tshirts even wool with synthetics added. Which of these two comparisons are noted for durability? Cotton both times. Wool has other advantages. Durability is sadly not one of them

    I found a 08 Rugby on eBay and reverse image searched it and looks like some parts of where the logos n horse's sit are on different parts of the lines Under it (3 on The shoulder is further over on the one I brought) its like all The ones on Google images look slightly different. Is this a common thing or a red flag? The tag looks legit tho. Its Ralph Lauren Winter challenge club, also are they usually counterfeitered?

    I think the j crew one might have to do with how it was made. The holes were near seams and stress areas like right where the elbow patch was attached to the wool. Also, how do you usually wash thrifted/second-hand wool sweaters?

    • @CoyoteSharp
      @CoyoteSharp 8 днів тому

      I agree, my take on the J.Crew merino sweater was not the most informed and the holes might have little to do with it being made with merino wool. And as gently as possible (agitation + heat = felting)

    Hi there, here are a few odd notes to add to the mix. I studied textiles in college back in the 80's so my knowledge might be a bit outdated. I find that cashmere gets both stronger and softer when you wash it. A quality hack might be to buy the lesser quality and wash it down to the right size and texture. One often unspoken benefit of adding synthetics to woolen blends is that it repells moths. I live in California. When everyone else in the country is pulling out their wooly sweaters, I get fomo. I bulky cotton sweater gives me the cozy feels without making me melt. Finally, camel hair is legit. I have a 1950's vintage camel hair coat. It is toasty, soft, and has been extremely durable. Keep making the great informative content. I've been sharing your videos with my son who has become an avid thrifter.

    • @CoyoteSharp
      @CoyoteSharp 8 днів тому

      Thanks for taking the time to add this info. In regards to, Cashmere - So I have read that washing cashmere can make it softer, though I haven't read so much of it making it stronger - unless you are intentionally felting it which can affect softness and elasticity (plus shrink it). But, from what I understand, cashmere is not as prone to felting as other wool, so washing (with minimal heat and agitation) can ultimately be good for it. As far as it being hack to "upgrade" the quality of cheap cashmere.. perhaps, but I am suspicious. Maybe an experiment for the future! And never thought about synthetics repelling moths. Cotton - So after reflecting and learning more I've realized my take on cotton sweaters is not the most informed. My strength of opinion on the matter doesn't reflect my knowledge or experience and needs to be revisited. Perhaps I'll wear that heavy cotton sweater around the house today and see if my mind changes. Camel - My personal experience with camel hair is minimal, but that camel cardigan is one of the nicer sweaters I own. Thanks again for taking the time to write this up.

    I thrifted my first 100% merino sweater last month for only $4. Granted, it's only H&M (made in Portugal), but it is so soft, light and stretchy! We don't have very harsh winters in southern Greece, so I'm also fine with cotton sweaters.

    I regret passing on so many cardigans and sweaters in the past because I thought wool and cashmere sweaters were too delicate to wear. The one’s that I do own, I have used for decades and they still look incredible.

    • @CoyoteSharp
      @CoyoteSharp 8 днів тому

      Quality wool and cashmere sweaters can last for decades. And though cashmere is more delicate, depending on quality and the construction, can still be pretty robust.

      @@CoyoteSharpif it makes you feel any better, I also hardly ever wear my cotton sweaters since buying proper wool ones. I find them too heavy and too hot to wear most times, I need that temperature regulating ability of wool!

    I have that exact same jacket as yours. The questionable denim field jacket. Mine is in tan canvas, not denim, the tag looks great with no red flags, and the overall construction and stitching are great. But every detail of the design (every individual pocket, etc.) matches yours exactly. So if yours is a fake, it's a pretty good one. Very interesting that the tag and zippers are so different though
