Another great vid! Super informative and your presentation style is fun and lively. Looking forward to more of your stuff. Maybe a breakdown of some of your best/favorite finds over the years? Tour of your collection?
mate, maybe your best video yet! Love your insight as a reseller/shopper. I will apply this knowledge to my search the brownish check summer sportcoat of my dreams!
Hey Coyote - I am just now getting in to men’s fashion and trying to take care of myself. Thank you for making this content to help us understand quality pieces vs counterfeits. I appreciate you!
Good video and some valuable info here. When I first started thrifting and looking for Polo, I was very concerned about fakes due to all the different tags / etc. With continued exposure you tend to see the same stuff over and over again, and you end up seeing the consistency of the quality of fabrics they use. Also as you say the fakes tend to be pretty obvious once you have seen enough stuff. I also came to the conclusion (as you mention early in the video) that due to the age and size of the business, there is so much authentic stuff out there.
Good point! Best way to get good at spotting fakes is continued exposure. And yeah, so much legit stuff out there and the fake stuff seems concentrated in the last 5ish years.
Great video, that is so much quality and effort given into a small channel I'm sure you'll blow up soon this is extremely informative ! I know you specialise in RL in your purchases but maybe you could do guides for spotting other fake brands ?
Thank you! And perhaps, but it takes time to get just decent at spotting fakes (and then packaging that info) in one brand so to tackle another one will likely be way down the road.
Thank you very much my dear friend, you saved me a lot of money and time, someone opened a store next to my home and 9claimed that everything in his shop is authentic, after doing some homework with your video, I came into a conclusion that he is selling fugazi, thank you very much again.
Great guide to think about. I come across tons of Polo in the thrifts and usually leave it because I don’t know enough about fakes to make it worth the risk unless it’s super vintage and obvious. Thanks for all the work put into this and other brand deep dives.
The problem with RL is, it actually has re -released the same product just with slight alterations so what you have (Fishing jacket) maybe real but different from what others post online. Its really hard to tell sometimes!
The denim jacket tag is correct for mid 80s - early 90s tag design. Purple label actually used that tag style for a brief time. Pretty sure i've seen fakes with that elongated style %100 cotton tag so I see why that throws you off. Clothing construction quality in Asia in the 80s/90s isn't the best so there's definitely room for sloppy work on vintage RL. Also, the marker on the tag would denote outlet or retail return/defect/out of season. It doesn't make sense for a fake to have that. I do believe the jacket is real. PS great video. My favorite RL tag is the 70s-80s Polo Western. I have one for sale on ebay rn.
Really appreciate the feedback. Good point on the mark on tag. That'd be a sophisticated move by the counterfeiter. And yeah, I have since seen a legit piece (actually on RLs official vintage page) with that 100% cotton tag. Still looks chintzy to me. But the sloppy stitching and some designs choices still feel off. I've seen tons of high quality, well constructed 80s/90s made in Asia pieces. Maybe this is just a one off. And yes, the Polo Western tag is it.
Great collection! I bought my first LV when I was 25 and I've only used that bag a few times haha. Also, I love your clutch! I have an Eva clutch with the DE print and I love the little chain. But I don't want to spend that much money right now and the kislux always gets me the bag I want and it's just as good as the LV and one of my favorites. Durability
25:57 ... what if some of the factories are simply sewing in tags in a not so great way? is every tag sewn in checked? I can't imagine they are. and what if some of the labels that are produced in Asian factories are not quite up to snuff? is every label produced going to be checked? I can't imagine that they would be. all murky.
Hi I’m looking to purchase a Ralph Lauren Gorham Puffer jacket. Some are coming up without a real tag but on the inside where a tag is usually found, it has the Brand, along with the material content and “made in Vietnam”. Can someone advise if this is a fake?
I wonder about if any stores authentic their pieces. Researching Arcteryx ski jackets and on Reddit I’ve heard the soho store authentic their pieces. Probably much easier since the duping is of newer pieces. Would be cool to go to the Ralph Lauren SoHo store with supposed fakes and see if they can tell. Also video idea of going to the store because It’s so aesthetic. Especially done up Christmas style rn.
Great video! I agree with you about personal safety concerns, especially when traveling, getting robbed on vacation is painful enough, but getting robbed with an authentic bag is even worse. To me, it makes sense to travel with a fake kislux bag and not carry any valuables that you would miss. Also, if your bag gets damaged by dust, stains, accidents, whatever it is, it doesn't matter even if it's fake.
There's a psychological side to it. I can confirm the feeling just isn't the same when you're unpacking a dupe, compared to an authentic, handcrafted piece. For me, its like a journey; opening the package, then the box, taking off the paper, layer by layer, smelling the leather... Ahh, you just CAN'T beat that! The only problem is your wallet is a lot thinner afterwardsEven though i've experienced both scenarios, i still end up buying a kislux .
I think your jean jacket is a fake, because of the tag.You usually only see the rider with Ralph Lauren tag on button down shirts, because of a lawsuit with brooks brothers over the "polo shirt" designation
By comparing replicas with genuine items, you can learn how to identify the authenticity of a bag. I think kislux also has artistic value. This change allowed me to devote more resources to a true art collection while maintaining my own style.
I pickup RL at so low prices on clearance I don‘t even care about ebay anymore. Good pieces are rarely available, no returns and questionable authenticity is just not worth it.
I used my first winnings to buy a canvas LV and in less than two years the wallet was cracked/broken in multiple places and the store refused to repair or replace it. I don't know what kind of resale value such junk could have. I ended up donating it...well, maybe I might buy a fake LV from kislux but these designers/robber barons don't even think about taking another penny from me.
unfortunately brother that thing is fake the tag is terrible tons of over lapping threads the pony is all jacked up the made in singapore should be on the back of the size M absolutely FAKE the stitching is horrific ALSO THAT LOOKS HUGE FOR A MEDIUM what's your size its full of red flags whats the zipper? ykk? talon? polo?

Glad you liked it!

Much appreciated! And yes, plan to eventually show off some of my favorites.
Another sharp video brother! Keep it up 💯 The Polo Country piece is incredible
Thanks! And yes, one of my favorites.

Glad to hear and hope you find that coat!

Would you consider doing a video on Hugo Boss?
The last vintage top looks real .
Looks a good weight
Might be. And yeah fabric looks solid.
The easiest to detect are leather jackets, suiting, and overcoats. In those cases, the quality speaks for itself.
True. Hard to fake premium material.

Shouldve watched this sooner. Trying to cancel an order on ebay now on a Polo bear sweater.
25:54 can't comment on whether this is real but it's an old photographer's jacket design so it's quite possible RL would have made these.
14:00 also the tag is on the neck, not the back of the shirt. who tf puts it on the neck ?!

Really good video! As a non American viewer, buying second hand Ralph lauren has proveen to be quite difficult.
What the heck does u not being non-american do with it?
@@the_lobsterbecause RL is widely available in US ebay and maybe not in some other country low bob
Glad it was helpful!
can we get in contact with you for our RL purchase verification on if its legit or not?
thank you dog
🙏

someone's grandpops would have a made in USA tag. someone's pops is more likely a Singapore tag considering it was made in the 90's if its Singapore
Internet is still pretty split. Size doesn't appear super off to me. Agree the stitching is messy. It's a YKK zipper.
Great video! You'll get a lot of watch hours on this one. I resell for extra money, and i find a lot of fake polo.
Thanks and hope so.
