I have the Jason Aldean Georgia boy resistol hat. Actually have 2. Because they don’t come shaped like his. I taught myself how to shape them. So in case I jacked it up I have another one lol. They are sturdy hats. Heavier than some other palm leafs for sure. And are comfortable!!

I wear my Resistol straw cattleman crown from Easter to October. Looks like a Texas Ranger hat like Jeff Bridges in Hell or High Water. But come fall I wear John Wayne’s Stetson Peace Maker (thanks to you) and I love it!!!😊

About time to switch from my Open Road hemp to Silverbelly at Labor Day...quick question ... I have seen posts that say Silverbelly is weather resistant and can wear in rain...just looking for confirmation before I expose mine to Louisiana rains this fall..

And one more hat from one of his movies that reminds me of this peacemaker. My favorite Christmas movie The Three Godfathers. Again the creased on the crown is more of a fedora pinch front, but it looks a lot like the peacemaker color and shape.

As for which hat it most resembles from his movies, I’m leaning towards The Commancheros and The Shootist hat.. Now I know that a lot of his hats had more about fedora front pinch crease in the crown. But these two movies really have the shape of the brim and the color, dead on I think. But for me the fact that it’s a John Wayne hat from the collection celebrating his bigger than life movie characters plus has a Gus crease, which so many of us have come to love from watching Lonesome Dove, makes this hat, just a culminationof iconic John Wayne collectors items with a nod to Gus. It’s also kind of nice that the initials on the inside match my own.

Just ordered my peace maker thanks to your video! Plus, planning a business trip to Witchita Falls TX and again, thanks to you, I’ll be stopping in to the John Wayne experience in Fort Worth. Wish I could stop by your place for a bourbon and sharing stories of John Wayne who also was loved by John Wayne! Here’s my bit of fandom. Back in ‘68 when I was 8 years old, my grandmother in LA was still working as a script supervisor on set for a lot of movies. She was particularly close friends with Howard Hawkes. Thanks to that friendship she was able to visit with John Wayne on the studio lot and he signed a postcard picture of him to me. That’s as close as I got to my western movie hero. Thanks again for your great videos, and sharing so much great trivia on all things so many of us western movie fans love.

Got a pair of black cherry 1883s, also rather cheap that were sitting unbought. Can't wait for them to get here, it looks like a lot of boot for the money. Makes me wonder how many more little hidden gems like this are sitting in someone's vintage dead stock pile.

Can you get a hold of the John Wayne peacemaker hat? It’s got the initials JW in it on the satin lining. I’m really close to thinking about buying that, but I’d rather get a good review on the hat first.

I recommend staying in Versailles, KY as opposed to Lexington. You are never more than 20-30 minutes from any distillery in the area doing this. You are also about 30 minutes closer to Bardstown. Cuts off a lot of wasted time driving over the course of 4-5 days.

Hi, great review! Quick question... do they wear true to size or sis you have to size up/down? Im looking to get into a Tecovas "The Doc" boot and I want to make sure I order the right size. Im in Canada, so no access to an actual store. I'm aware that Tecovas does not ship to Canada, but there is a service that takes care of that... just rather not return them due to size... thanks!

History Nerd, what is your take on vintage felt open roads? recently I brought a vintage 3x Beaver Open road and it looks pretty good felt, it looks like it is from the 1980s.

I have an old 4x beaver Stetson. I think they switched sometime early 2000s to an all wool for anything below 4x

As a fellow, yet recent, skin cancer surviver-with facial Mohls surgery about a year ago, I stubbled on your channel while research "real" hats to reduce sun exposure on my face here in sunny NJ. Love it.. You are great! I purchased the Milan Stratoliner in Cognac from that review-it is a stunning colorway-so thank you. I've since ordered it in black as well. Sized down as suggested for both and they're perfect for my big pointy melon. I do wish they were a bit more long-oval but for the price.......I was about to order the Sand colorway, MIlan version, when this review popped up... Going to order the hemp natural. So while my wallet will curse you for a few months, I, again, thank you! All the best. Keep doing what you're doing....

definitely the brim on your new hat needs to have the brim flattened more to look like the screen worn Justified hat.
