My thanks for the information and review. I appreciate most, your absolute direct honesty and straightforward manners. You're a genuine breath of fresh air on UA-cam. 👍
Another straight forward review, I appreciate old fashioned honesty. Thanks for doing these videos, I look forward to them. As Christmas 2022 comes to a close let me wish you a happy and safe 2023.
Have 2. One is several YEARS old, and has faded to a weird purple tinge. I bought from Stetson , came in a box. Mine is Black. I think they are Great. I've worn it in rain and snow. Am very happy with it.
Good review thanks I always wondered about those crushable hats.
Like old hats, like your video. I am an old guy so I will watch more of your videos because you tell it best.
All of us old guys who ain’t afraid to speak our minds need to stick together, Hombre.
Excellent video, my friend. I love an honest review for a change.
I found your channel because I have looked at hats and the internet algorithm thought I was see what you are up to. Glad it did. I had a wool felt hat similar to the Bozeman style only in black (cheap brand) for a couple of years. It wore through where my two fingers and thumb grasped it to take it off. Thin felt I guess. So I am looking for a MUCH better hat. I will go check out the reviews you did on the better Stetson hats. Thank you for the reviews.
Merry Chistmas, I can't wait for tour of all your hats.
You mentioned that there were better options in the 100-120$ range. I would’ve liked to have heard your recommendations, as well as recommendations/alternatives for a warm weather version. Loved the video and subscribed! Thanks!
Great video as always
Great review. Always make me laugh.
I bought the brown Bozeman hat while I was on a trip to Yellowstone for about $140 in a western attire store in Gardiner Montana. So far, I honestly think that it was worth the money
I love your reviews. I appreciate you calling out the brand for their faults. Some folks go on and kiss the brands asses and isn't helpful. Keep up the good work brother. Hope you had a Merry Christmas
Many thanks for the kind words. I've always tried to be a straight-shooter and can't stand folks who crawfish in order to curry favor.
True talk on the marketing gibberish. Hats off to you!
I think you did a very honest assessment of this hat. Definitely a sub-$100 hat. It reminds me of a hat Stetson makes called the Senaca, which seems to be a firmer hat than this one. Thank you for your reviews. Will be watching for future videos. And the hat display stand looks like an ideal Christmas Gift. Hope you got your wife something terrific!
Great video. I've been eyeing the Stetson Gallatin, which seems to be a comparable hat to the Bozeman, and this review pushed me to seek out the Gallatin for less than Stetson's asking price. I found a 2nd hand Gallatin going for half the price (120 down to 60) thanks to you.
Great review. Thanks
I got this hat at the Resistol outlet in Garland in black. It was marked at $40 because it actually has a Blackhawk hat band. Best overall hat I own, and I get so many compliments from it.
Excellent review
I have to subscribe just for the dry humor - loved the review!
The reason I like your show is you pull no punches,
I've been eyeballing the Bozeman for a cold weather, outdoor hat to keep the low winter sun out of my eyes and the cold rain off my neck. I might be okay with a $70 hat *if I can find it for $70.* Thanks for making this video, this was *exactly* the kind of no-B.S., straightforward review I was looking for.
Amazon prices actually fluctuate quite widely depending upon the time of day and the day of the week you check them. It's kind of like airplane tickets. Just keep checking, and you'll probably stumble upon a sale like I did. The company I bought it from through Amazon - backcountrydotcom - currently has the Bozeman listed for $99.95.
You got it at the right time. Going for $120 on the Stetson site now and this is only 15 months after your review.
Greetings from Huntsville. Thx for the thorough review. I'm looking for a comfortable, 'Bama-wearable hat. I'll keep watching.
Outstanding real world review. I own a few Stetson crushable hats good average hat. It must have been the seller that bagged the hat like that. Both of mine came in hat boxes.
One of your best reviews,,had me laughing.
Merry Christmas to you and your family! Our best wishes to you all for 2023.
I take the crushable hat when I go back packing, The hat packs down well and is excellent to have when I make camp.
Your quite funny and I enjoyed.
I have several nice Stetsons and
I added a Bozeman because I wanted a crushable for travel.
I had a couple Bailey''s crushable hats over my 60-Year lifetime that were pretty good hats....
Nice hat
I have this hat and love it, don't have any of the floppy issues, perhaps his larger head may be the issue, mine is a 7 1/2.
Stetson told me they did not have a relationship with Amazon and Stetson products purchased over Amazon were likely counterfeit. They also said they were in process of stopping Amazon from selling Stetson hats...
I'm certain others will disagree, but I honestly do not believe there is enough demand for hats in general, and especially ones like the Bozeman, to make it cost effective or worthwhile to counterfeit them. Many of the third party vendors selling hats on Amazon are reputable hat shops that are trying to make a buck by selling where the online shoppers go.
@@historynerdsmancave7567you'd be shocked at the things that are counterfeit on Amazon that you would think make no sense to do so. I stopped buying stuff like this from Amazon anymore, so much counterfeit crap on there
Hi, great video. Can I ask what brand/model of glasses you are wearing? They look great!
Well, heck, that's the first time I've ever been asked that question. They are tortoise shell frames made by Polo by Ralph Lauren. Thanks for watching the channel.
I wish Stetson had stores or a store you could go to.
Stetsons are hard to find in stores unless you live in the largest metropolitan areas. I mail order all of mine but have noticed that even those are getting harder and harder to obtain. The demand for Stetson hats is growing rapidly among young hipster types, which makes it harder for old cusses like me to buy them.
Stetson has an outlet store in St Joseph, MO. Meyer The Hatter in New Orleans and JJ Hat Center in NYC both carry an extensive line of Stetsons.
Love hearing someone call comething horse hockey
Love your commentary on the ad jibberish. lol. The more you think of it, the less it means.
Tremendous. I just ordered this hat in mushroom haha! I wear western snap shirts w/ jeans and boots on the daily and usually with the typical ball cap/trucker cap. Sometimes I want to wear something different but I've never owned a cowboy hat and don't really have the gumption to go full on Stetson Skyline 6x or anything like that; so this Bozeman seems to be the happy little middle ground that still manages to be evocative of the old west gunslinger era, without being a full blown cowboy hat. Can't wait to receive this hat and start wearing it immediately! It will hopefully top off my daily ensemble quite nicely. Duly noted regarding its wearability depending on the time of year. Thanks for the review!
I can’t decide between this and tue Route 66. Maybe you can do a video of that one day. The 66 I can wear to work (Deputy Sheriff). Btw, recently found your channel. I lived in Huntsville for five years and I miss it dearly. Back home in NC now.
I have long watned to purchase and review the Route 66, but, unfortunately, my giant head demands an XXL size Stetson hat, and the Route 66 is among those that only go up to XL. Wish I could help, pardner.
I bought the black version and it is a great outdoor hat. Very versatile, water repellant, crushable... I wear it all year long and I am going to buy it in the mushroom colour. A must buy from Stetson collection. And good value for money.
I heard that cowboy hats are supposed to be stored on its crown, since resting them on the brim will flatten-out the brim. Does that apply to the Outdoor Stetson Bozeman too? What do you do when you're not wearing it?
Accurate review. I am on my 3rd Bozeman Crushable. ( Lost the second one after 9 months ).
I wear it just about daily. Lots of burns ( I am around a campfire almost daily ), rainstorms, etc.
It keeps my head warm and dry. It takes abuse. I do not find it aesthetically pleasing. I wish they made crushables in at least half a dozen styles so I could select something better. I will say that my FIRST one was the best. I think they changed their construction formula after the first run. But I agree with your assessment and add only that it will handle abuse over the long haul.
How is this for hot weather?
@@Gunzee Where did I claim it is, " _for hot weather_ "? ( _HINT: I didn't_ ).
I do not typically respond to questions flawed with a false premise. However I will initially assume no ill intent and reply if I detect no malice.
@@zippitydoodah5693 I meant it as a question, never really worn a hat in the sun. Well doesn't matter now, ordered one.
@@GunzeeGotcha. Your question was ambiguous. I read it the wrong way.
I always wear hats in the sun. Not enough hair on my head to go hatless in the sun considering how much I am outside every day. I wear my Bozeman for 3 seasons. In summer I wear cooler hats with bigger brims and more ventilation. Our Farmer's Co-op always has a good selection of hats for summer.
@@zippitydoodah5693In absolutely zero sense was his question ambiguous. You’re weirdly aggressive, man.
I agree I have one and it’s a great cold weather hat I wet other#on a 60* Texas day but it’s a comfortable hat, I really want a Silverbelly Range 6X but all sold out maybe I get me a Ronald Reagan hat istead
Hey, quick question! On the Bozeman, is the leather band removable? I'm looking for a good hat, but I would prefer a beaded headband.
I live in Alabama, where it is currently June and hotter than Hell, so all of my wool and felt hats are in storage. I'll double check the next time I run across the Bozeman, but I am fairly certain you can remove the hatband and replace it with another. It's either glued or attached with a couple of stitches. Be mindful, it you want to roll up or "crush" the Bozeman, you need a hatband that will "crush," as well. Thanks for watching!
@@historynerdsmancave7567 Great, thanks alot for the information and reminder!
Anyone know/have info on the second hat Raylan Givens wears at the end in Justified. After the final shootout with boone, where he puts a hole in Raylans hat, Raylan shows up at the office with a new hat. Does anyone know what type/name of that hat?
Timothy Olyphant is a big fan of Baron hats, and I believe he worked with the on designing that big ol' fedora. I have two videos on my channel about the history of Olyphant's hats from Justified, and one of them discusses the hat that Raylan takes from Boon.
I LIKE the finished work on the brim of this model.
thanks for the review, on amazon here in Germany are €128...now i know is overpriced, cheers
I'm so bummed that Amazon does not have these hats in a size 3x.
I really like the hat,
But here in Canada, it’s 200$ 😲
So I can wear that with cowboy boots? Obviously I can do what I want but you said it ain’t a western hat. But it looks nice to me I would wear it with my cowboy boots what do you think
The Bozeman can be worn as an outdoor hat with boots, or you could wear it to dinner in the city. It's a pretty versatile hat and design. I wear mine to my office with a coat and tie as well as when I'm outdoors.
What hat can you wear in the rain?
Pretty much any of the Stetson hats in their "Outdoor" category, such as the Bozeman reviewed here, are water repellent and can be worn in the rain. Many folks wear their high-end Stetson western hats and fedoras in the rain, but I personally don't do that because I'd like mine to last for decades. Of course, a drenching downpour can wreak Hell on just about any hat.
I think that advertising word-salad about the hat was meant to say it was a hat for people who worked outdoors or lived the western lifestyle. But also for people who lived in town and perhaps only were outdoors on hiking or camping trips. Trying to say you don't have to be a farmer or rancher to wear this hat. At least that was my take when hearing the pitch and seeing the couple wearing the hat out by the camp setting.
I'm not sure if you'll see this comment but I'm curious if you would do a review of the Stetson Jackson? It looks very similar to this one but they say it has a blend of fur? I paid $196, which was already a good Chunk over the price on the Stetson website.... It's my first Stetson and I would like to think i didn't make as give of a mistake as i think 😅
Btw i love the hat, very useful for looking nice in town, but outdoorsy enough for me to go on hikes with!
I would do a review for you...but they do not make the Stetson Jackson in the XXL size that I need. It only goes up to XL. It is a nice looking hat, though.
@@historynerdsmancave7567 oh right i didn't even think about the size oops haha. Oh well! I enjoy your videos btw! Keep up the good work!
Do you have any experience with akubra hats? For the last few months, I have kept thinking about pulling the trigger on an akubra coober pedy or cattleman but keep talking myself out of it lol. I currently have a stetson copper canyon 6x that I love but was wanting something a little different.
I am strictly Stetson loyal, so Akubras are out of my knowledge zone. My late father was born in Texas during the Great Depression and wore only Stetson hats during his life. If they’re good enough for Dad, they’re good enough for me. Sorry I can’t be helpful.
I have several Akubra hats.
I find them equal quality wise to my Stetsons of similar x rating or price point.
No problems.
If you like the style go for it.
HTH.
I've worn Akubras for years. The first one bought in 1995 stood up to daily use for over a decade. The two replacements since then have been far less resilient, losing their stiffness and becoming floppy all too soon. Last couple years I switched to Stetson. I would consider another Akubra only if I could find a higher quality one like my original. They don't describe the thickness or quality of each hat they make, but there must be a gradient. Or maybe they're all just cheaper lately.
It’s an “outback” design. And the description sounds like it was written by Chat CPT.
How about a review on a rte 66 hat?
Stetson's website says it makes the Route 66 in the XXL size that my giant head requires, but after about a year of searching, I'll be danged if I can find one in stock anywhere online...
i was not happy to find out that the stetson buffalo line hats are not made of buffalo wool, but is just fur like the other hats
Your video thumbnails always look like Burl Ives
i dont like leather bands, but i wonder if this would make me itch, plastic fabric makes me itch
Personally, I have discovered no itching issues, and there is a sweat band on the inside to help you remain itch-free.
I have worn this hat for over a year. I have never had any issues with it being itchy or uncomfortable. It’s hard to describe, but it’s like a pair of Hanes underwear but thermal and more premium.
I agree, I'd give $70-$80 dollars for that hat, but no more than that.
Well we are up to $120 on the Stetson website now...
I suppose all hats are crushable, but its about the un-crushing
Wow. I wish I watched this video before I spent $120 on the Stetson website. Inflation is a bitch.
I could bet it is made by " New York Hat Co."
When you buy the cheapest hat they have you get what you pay for I have one it is what it is
I hate that I discovered your channel. I'm going to spend so much money.
Glad you don't talk about firearms; I'd already be out of money.
I'm with ya, Brother. Because my house is so full of crap I've bought as a result of watching UA-cam videos, I'm expecting location scouts from the Hoarders TV show to knock on my door any day now.
Thanks for the review, helped me decide not to purchase this.
The problem with Amazon is that hat could very well be a fake Stetson. Amazon does nothing to prevent that from happening. Proceed with caution when it comes to Amazon.
But with Amazon's "no questions asked" and amazingly easy return policy, you can always send it back if you're not 100% happy with the hat you receive.
Like Bozeman needs another reason for hipsters and transplants to ruin that town 😂
LOL!!! Diversity...
They don't stand behind their product. Their hat (The one I bought) says Water Repellent. But after a small drizzle, it lost its shape. I contacted them, thinking I am dealing with a reputable company. Their reply was: Go to a dealer and pay to have your hat reshaped. Cover it with plastic next time!!! Why say it is water repellent if it's BS? Don't buy - don't support - shame on them for misleading and on us for buying from a disreputable company
Marketing gibberish = woke word salad.
