    WoW - great history lesson on the Co. - I own the 1883 model # N159654 ( not that you give a rip ) Had them for about 16 + years - rarely worn them - they are like new - mist comfortable boot I've ever put on - soft and gorgeous - i got them at a street sale the boot co/ western store was closed down and thwy brought there stock - i paid $60 bucks (no crap) - my goofy sis in law seen them by the door at a family event and was going off about how expensive and wanted to know who's they were - when she found out they were mine she had a coranary 😂😂😂😂 - great channel sir 👍 great channel

    The nicest boots I have ever owned were a pair of 1883 Lucchese ropers in their black lone star calf. Beautiful boots but I sized out of them over the years and sold them. My new go to is Chess but it's much more of a rugged boot than the dressy Luccheses.

    As always a great video with lots of interesting history. Lucchese also has a considerable following in Mexico, a famous Mexican singer, Pedro Infante had a custom pair of boots made for him. I was lucky to find a deal on some a few years back. Love those Lucchese boots!

    I have 2 or 3 pairs of Luchesses, from their entry level to their mid grade 1883. Superb boots. Their entry level boots are better than most other brands upper level brands. Classic look, no tacky squared toed silliness. Polishes up to a nice glow.
    Been to the Luchesse Boutique in Santa Fe. They have boots close to $10,000. Shirts, jackets, belts. All the stuff I will never afford..

    Got a pair of black cherry 1883s, also rather cheap that were sitting unbought. Can't wait for them to get here, it looks like a lot of boot for the money. Makes me wonder how many more little hidden gems like this are sitting in someone's vintage dead stock pile.

    Thanks for the well-documented history of the brand. I enjoyed it. I just bought a pair of Kennedy Ropers and like it for all the reasons this video lays out. And I'm loving this Florence Buffalo leather. You scored at that price!

    Another interesting video! Lucchese are my favorite boots. I have 2 pair that were custom made. The first was purchased through Shepler's in Wichita Kansas in 1991. They were custom ordered for someone else who never picked them up. R4 black goatskin with black stitching and black raised piping. I got them for $199. I ordered the 2nd pair directly from Lucchese in 2007. Black goatskin Ropers with black stitching and black piping. These were $550. Both pairs are rather dressy. I don't wear them often, but when I do, they feel great! Lucchese uses a special twisted last that makes the boots far more comfortable than my recently purchased Tecovas Ropers in mahogany ostrich or my tan calfskin Justins that I bought new in 1984. Yup, still got em and still wear them occasionally. Those 1883s you bought look great! Beautiful stitching and a great color. Beautifully understated. Enjoy them, and wear them in good health!!

      Great comment that I enjoyed reading! I’d love to have some custom Luccheses. I meant to note in the video that they used the same foot lasts to make both the Lucchese Classics and the 1883s, but it’s hard to remember everything I want to mention when I’m recording for 20 minutes.

      @@alexgoriatchenkov leather is old and since it’s new I accidentally ripped a leather handle above the shaft on my boot so I went to the cobbler to put on a zippper on the inside of both boots so it doesn’t happen again for me it was $75 , I love em after like 2-3weeks of break in they are comfy now but like I said very stiff in the beginning. My first pair of boots I ever purchased were a pair of Chocolate Goat Lucchese 1883s. I think I bought them for sub $300 plus tax at the Lucchese storefront in San Antonio in 2007 or 2008. I still wear them to this day. Had quite the sticker shock when I splurged for some Lucchese handmade cognac ostriches a couple years later! Thanks for naming the store, need to size my feet and see if I can get a pair of those calfskins.

    Love your videos & the history. Living in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, I have been in the Lucchese Store at the Fort Worth Stockyards and they seemed nice to me. I was not dressed up. Just boots & jeans. Lastly, I haven’t heard anyone here in Texas that pronounces Lucchese with a “Z”. We say Lucche cee

    What boot would you go with for a first timer thats gonna start dancing with a new group of friends? I like the look of the Double Hs but theyre all rubber bottoms. I def want them to be a western/cowboy boot but not sure if I go with a rounded or square toe. I'm 20 years old btw

    • @historynerdsmancave7567
      @historynerdsmancave7567  Рік тому

      Brother, I wish I could help, but as you can probably tell, I ain’t exactly the dancing type and won’t ever be found doing the boot scootin’ boogie. With that said, seems to me that a square toe would be more comfortable for such leg-shakin’ activities and is my preferred toe on boots that I own. Leather outer soles would be a must, too. If you’re on a tight budget like I was at 20-years-old, Durango boots offers discount codes for various boots on its Facebook page each Friday, and you can usually purchase them for about $99.
