Countersink drills and step drill tips #woodworking
In this video countersink drilled and step drill tips we take a look at the countersink drill and how it functions. how to adjust it and how to use it and what it's best used for. we also take a look at the step drill and what that's used for and the best screws to be used with those cuts on the step drill. we take a look at the furniture screw which is the same as the pocket screw and a much lower cost point. We also take a look at the wood screw and why that works best with the countersink drill. I specifically look at the ftg USA brand countersink drills. it's a five-piece set that seems to be pretty sturdy at a reasonable price point. The previous brand of countersink drill I had been using failed miserably and I decided to try a different brand. thanks for watching the video and I would appreciate a like and subscribe to the channel.

Nice...simple & durable! Many ways to be created with pallets that always go unused!
Thank you.
My hole saw has no threads. It has a rectangular center hole with two small ones on each side of the center hole.
I've seen something similar to that. They make all different configurations I guess it's just a matter of the manufacturers idea of what's best. Thanks for watching.
Just subscribed, your truly an inspiration !!!
Thank you Mike.
Hals Wood Shop. Thanks for another lesson that many can benefit from these tips. I am 72 and have a mixed assortmentt of these and some other countersink bits to fit the task. I have moved the round depth set over to regular bits, after the bit broke to make any drill bit needed, and it works well. You hinted about more drills....hmm the age old question " why do you need another drill?" so I have 5. My Ryobi, a multi speed Black n Decker for countersinks and light drilling, 2 impact drills. Recently I tried the HF Bauer drill and impact set 20vt., I can say a nice weight. very good power. I bought a second battery. And for the cost a warrantee on the drill set. I like being pragmatic., 6 months and it runs well. Another time ....see the Hercules Plunge Router set...see Shop Ramblings utube...mine was 130 with the warrantee, many good features and extras.
Thanks Hal for watching the video. Yes, I figured there was some newbies out there or novices that needed to learn about these things. Yeah, I mention the fact that I could use another drill but actually I do have another drill. It's a corded Master mechanic drill. I picked up a long time ago years ago and it works great. It just has a cord on it and I neglect to use it. I like Bauer I have some Bauer stuff, few pieces of it and I would n't be opposed to buying Bauer again. I mean it's a great cost savings and it's great for the hobbyist I haven't had any problem with them failing. Have a good week.
Wow. What a great idea. I will take your idea and subscribe to your channel! Great work
Thanks for watching the video and thanks for I subscribe.
Thanks for watching video and thank you for the subscribe.
Thanks for watching the video. I appreciate the subscribe. Welcome aboard.
I believe HSS stands for high-speed steel. Thank you for the video.
Hey Kenneth, thanks for watching the video. You are right about HSS it does stand for high speed steel.
Thank you Sir ! I saw the set on Amazon and then searched UA-cam for any reviews. Your demonstration shows they work qute well. I will now make the purchase !
Awesome! Glad the video helped you out. Thanks for watching
Aww....yes.....the epoxy resin guys worst enemy...... The bubble.......evil lil bastards
Don't we know it? Thanks for watching.
Really cool and clean “fix”! Looks intentional now and adds a little character!
Thank you. Sometimes you just have to use your imagination.
******I got a new phone. It was quite an upgrade from that current phone which took great videos, but I think this one takes even better videos. They look so much more crisp and clear and authentic to my eye. Tell me what you think if you guys can notice a difference.
Very nice.
Thank you.
what drill was that to make the slanted holes for the end im trying to use a screw but it wont work
Are you talking about the pocket hole drill? That's a special drill that comes with the pocket hole kit. It's a 3/8 but it has a smaller size on the tip which is like 1/8 of an inch. It's called a step drill. I hope this answers your question . Thanks for watching
@@WoodShopStop yes for the 2x4
I’m inspired to try it
Great! It's an enjoyable build. Have fun., 😊 thanks.
I love seeing you please respond I am so excited to see familiar faces doing woodworking
Thank you for watching the video. Me too, I'm happy to see that you're a creator. I wish you the best.
Looks like Ill be trying my hand at a planter box now. 😊 As time for you allows....a longer video is something I would look forward to. Keep on making sawdust!! ☕
Thanks for watching the video as always, I like your comments as well. I did make a long version of this video this is just a clip from the long version if you look in my catalog or on my channel you'll see the long version it's about 17 minutes long. Have a great Sunday!
A long version? Im on it. Thanks.
Brilliant. Best method ever. Thank you such for sharing.
Thank you for your kind words Wilna. You are welcome.
The way you reached for the wood behind the blade made me nervous. Great video!
Sorry to make you nervous. Thanks for watching the video.
Interesting technique. I have never seen anyone use CA & wood glue on the same joint. Your logic is sound 🖖
Thanks for watching. I didn't come up with the CA glue and PVA glue combination. I learned that from some other woodworkers online it seems to work pretty good. Like
@@WoodShopStop I will definitely be using that one. Thanks for the video
I really like watching your videos!! An how you explain everything that you're doing!! Peace
Thank you. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch. Peace to you as well.
Good Video I was able to watch it to the end because there was no stupid distracting music
Thank you. I know what you mean about the music. Have a good one!.
I’m going to be doing the same. I appreciate you sharing your experience. Best of luck!
Thank you. Good luck to you too! Thanks for watching the video.
I find it often helps to start the cut using the fine side to establish the kerf, then flip the saw over to finish the cut with the aggressive teeth.
Good tip. Thanks
You need dust collection and/or a mask when sanding.
You're right. I have both ☹️
Came here after being told I needed to get a plug cutter, or bung cutter and had never heard of them before. What's the difference between these and hole saws? #1, and #2 if your cutters are burning, can they be sharpened? Are you going to try sharpening your plug cutters at all?🤔
I forgot too: can these be used with a hand drill?
Thanks for watching the video. I wouldn't advise using a hand drill you need the downward pressure from a press that works best also the drill press is perpendicular a hand drill may cut them at an angle if you don't have exactly straight. I haven't had much success with trying to sharpen and plug cutters but I did try sharing one and it didn't work out well. When they get dollar I plan on taking to my sharpening guy who does my saw blades it shouldn't be too expensive to sharpen those.
This is also a great tool to check the bevel angle on your chisels.
You got it. Thanks for watching the video and making a comment much appreciated. Have a great day.
Never needed to check my already square plane.
Most are that's what makes them such good references. Thanks for your comment and watching the video. Nice to have somebody speak what's on their mind and give their input to the topic. Have a great blessed day.
If you are rehabbing an old plane and you have to reflatten the bottom it's good to check and make sure you haven't gotten it off while using the higher-grit sandpaper. Also cheaper hand planes being mass-produced in China may not be to a proper tolerance that you will need to adjust. This check is mostly needed when you are using your plane with a shooting board, otherwise it's not as critical for most surfacing work.
Yhank very much Sir 🎉
You are welcome. 👍🏿
You are brilliant, I love your work! You’ve inspired me to start some woodwork projects! Thank you so much for all that you do ❤
Thank you. Make something awesome 👍🏿
Love your videos, thankyou!
Thank you Samuel.
The link isn't the same item. They are too small.
There's a link in the comments. Look for my 5 replies it's in there.
I once made several critical cuts using a square that I didn't realize was out until I started assembly. Wrecked the whole project. Folks, listen to Roger's tips!
Thanks Chris.
Great Tips!!!!
Thank you. 👍🏿
Thanks. Found your channel while trying to find a decent quality brand. I see a bunch on Amazon and I have no idea how long they’d stay sharp for. Perhaps this is another case on you get what you pay for.
Thanks for watching.
Roger, cutting the top on the Table saw is a pretty standard method. It the box were bigger it would really be the normal way to do it. This is really a nice gift.
Hey thanks Dann, I gave this to my wife Pam. She loves it. I got the wood from the side of the road. Then I waited for it to dry out. Farm to table kinda thing..lol
Beth will love this as she is a serious Turtle lover. Shared this video BTW.
Pam is too. It's a Native American symbol. I like turtles too.
gotta make for my saw! already ordered the locks! thanks
Very cool. Thanks for watching.
Thank you!
you're welcome. Thanks for watching the video.
So it removes the Drill Chuck Arbor. Thank you very much.
You're welcome.
Please talk and tell us what your doing and why
I do talk in some of the videos. Giving a blow by blow description. Some of them I just don't talk just to see what the difference is as far as viewer response goes. your comment helps.
Thank you for such a detailed instruction for staining pine. Pine gets a bad rap, but it's not the wood, it's the finishing process.
You're welcome. Thank you.
I was waiting to see how you were going to adjust the bottom after putting on the first slat on each side. Nice work! It looks great and I didn't see any multi thousand-dollar power tools!
Thanks for watching.
Thank you I enjoyed watching your work. I'm working on a basket such as yours that has ends that are heart shaped. I am going to subscrive to your chanel.
Wow! That is so cool. Thanks for the support.
Love how that turned out. It's so unique. Looks like a real fun project.......thanks for sharing!!!
Thank you, it was fun.
