  • in this video Beautiful unconventional crafted mallet I'll show you how I make a small mallet made from walnut. The pieces for the head was undersized but I made it work anyway The handle was a disfigured log with a wormhole but I thought it was unique and that it would make a great handle or at least a good conversation piece if I don't decide to use it in the shop but I may use it in the shop I've tried it already a few times and it seems to work great. it's balance pretty good and with the bend in the handle my hand position it is neatly tucked where it should be and gives me freedom of movement of my wrist for the striking of chisels. Beautiful unconventional crafted mallet was quite an enjoyable video to make I enjoyed making the mallet I enjoy it seeing the grain pop and doing the chisel work for the mortise is joy as well. I hope you enjoy Beautiful unconventional crafted mallet. please subscribe to the channel and hit the like button. It's a beauty. I need to get to where you are in order to find some of that walnut on the side of the road. Up here, it is not as prevalent as it used to be and to buy it would break the bank.

I really lucked out to find that pile of wood waiting for someone to rescue it. Thanks for watching. Have a great weekend.

I am sooo glad to have found your channel. Even though I'm sure there are more out there. You just don't see too many, people of color, wood worker channels. You are inspiring. I'm 53 years of age and willing to learn. I haven't touched woodworking projects in almost 4 decade's since high-school. Is there any advice you can give a novice or beginner? I'm looking to get started in the fall. What tools do you think I should purchase first?

Hi Jason, I'm glad you found the channel too thanks for subscribing. I'm a more mature woodworker as well I'm 63 and retired from machining and quality control.
      1. A table saw
      2. Power drill cordless or corded your choice.
      3. A planer (and a jointer later on at some point)
      4. A bandsaw
      5. A drill press
      6 a bench grinder
You'll also need a decent set of chisels and at least two hand planes.
Clamps are a necessity for clamping up your projects.
I hope this helps thanks for watching the video.
