- this is a video about How to build a small indoor /outdoor bench with Castle joints. it was my first attempt to Castle joints. I used pallet wood and repurposed lumber. I carried the top using full discarded bed slats and pallet wood as well as crate wood. The legs were constructed from laminated 2x4s.
How to build a small indoor /outdoor bench with Castle joints was a fun build since it was my first time making Castle joints it wasn't as complex does it I thought and I think it came out pretty darn good and should last a long time because the joints are solid not to mention me adding three and a half inch screw through the center of the castle joint to commit everything together to make it even more solid. I started out by trimming the ends on The boards that I use for the top using the miter saw. from there I went to the jointer to take the cupping out of the boards, then I size them using the planer. I really appreciate you showing that a nice piece can be made without $50000 worth of tools and $2000 worth of walnut. Awesome work!
Thank you. I appreciate the comment.

I just found your channel and wanted to thank you for sharing your knowledge and talent. I usually only watch hand tool woodworking but the way you explain your process, I can relate to my work. I look forward to watching your videos and keep your videos coming. Thank you.
Glad to have you on board. Thanks for watching and not scrolling away.
Very nice work. Thank you
Thank you.
Thanks for posting. I started with recreating your castle joints in a desk of my own. You’re cool!
You're welcome. Cool... I know the desk will be awesome. Thank you.
I was wondering what would come of the castle joints from your Short video the other day - now we all know! Awesome project, I think it came out really nice!
Thank you. It was a fun one, but they're all fun.
Nice work sir. Thank you algorithm for sending me your video. Easy sub
Thank you. Much appreciated.
You've got to love some good castle joints. Looks like if one weren't to glue the stretchers, the bench could be broken down for storage in a garden shed, or such.
I hadn't thought of that, good one. Thanks for watching and the comment.
Its so refreshing to see someone use a brush for spreading glue instead of their fingers. I feel like half the people on youtube use their fingers and the other half use those rubber spreaders that give a few cents from affiliate links.
Thank you. The brush seems to work so much better for me. When I'm done I just rinse it out. Thanks for watching.
How did you attach the top to the legs/runners?
I initially wanted to use the z-clips, but screwed up and got the spacing off with the bisquet cutter. So I drilled and screwed it on. A more crude method and doesn't allow for a lot of movement. Thanks for watching and catching that I didn't show how I did the top attachment.
I have other videos showing how to attach the table top with using z clips check out my desk videos and my side table videos.
