Here in Japan mail is red! In Spain is yellow!
Thank you. I was looking for Aestrin for so much time, but felt somehow intimidated by this hard difficulty description. Now i know that I will manage ☺️
You seem like a really wholesome person, i got this video recommended and sometimes UA-cam really does recommend good stuff :D Also, maybe a fun fact if you didnt know already, Reutlinger seems like a name that comes from the city Reutlingen in germany :)
It does! My great grandfather came from Germany shortly before WW1 and started a farm in Oklahoma. There are still records in my family from relatives crossing the oceans on ships back in the day.
So i think the microphone is perfectly fine and i actually like the keyboard sounds but in case you still want suggestions: I own the Elgato Wave3 Mic and i really like the sound of it! (The UA-camr Ryan Wass also has it i think, if you want to hear how it sounds)
Just a heads up for other upcoming sailing games on the horizon: Sea Legends by Game-Labs and Agoy by Capstain Games. I guess You must be familiar with Following Seas as well by now. I wonder, what kind of siling will be in a WIkings Dynasty - if it is not too much of an arcade, that could be good as well. A lot of great sailing games seem to be coming in future!
Congrats man, this is great! I have enjoyed the videos since i started watching you and ill stick around and support you as long as I have time, Happy new year!
Spoiler: in Europe you can travel free between countries like between us states
😂 glad my comment on our bodies knowing it's the holiday season resonated somewhat 😁 and yes, a Skyblivion series would be great. It's everything Oblivion should have been, and more. What a year to look forward to! 😎
In terms of purchasing your ship, slightly different scenario but as a truck driver for the company I work for I can buy the truck that I'm driving from the company
Also I'm surprised y'all still got people on back of the trucks, All the garbage collection around South Georgia at least has all went to the trucks with the arms on them
I just bought "Rule the Waves 3" during the Steam sale, haven't played it yet though. Your boat upgrade was really cool! will look forward to your next video.
What verities of boats are there? That one seems cool, like it will be a challenge. Can you sail to the caribbean islands? Speaking of people will watch anything, I made a couple short video's of walking my dog and people actually liked that, lol. not really into model trains, but slot cars might be worthy. Yeah, loners rule! join the club. You should go live, maybe make tips, and people like myself could ask questions.
@@Pozer714 you can customize every boat in the game in a large variety, adding more masts, stays, sails, etc. you can customize the ship to fit how you want to play. Slow but stable, or fast but dangerous. As of now, there are only 4 regions in the game, all are fictional places.
@@DaltonReutlinger Don't be mad, but I don't understand why you started the game over. There's been a new ship in Kicia Bay for months, so far none of the UA-camrs I know: have tried to buy it and customize it in several ports. In my opinion: this would be much more interesting than sailing the same ship again.
@ I’m working on getting to it. When I restarted the game the new ship wasn’t added yet and I wanted to do something new to make the game more interesting.
Congratulations, you've earned it! Hope it makes you some money.
I like the new cog layout! Try sailing a few local runs using only the squares and you'll be surprised how far upwind you can sail.
Jip, special content for special people! Keep it on! btw, there is still Sea Legends from the guys from Naval action, but it seems pretty dead..dunno.
Congrazulations on the promotion! Soon we shall sail the Brig!
Congrats man! You're work is appreciated and enjoyed by us
I think all podcasts need sailing action like this to compliment the discussions 😂
15:33… the issue with the keyboard sound getting into the microphone is that the sound goes through the material… probably the microphone is on a direct connection with your desk. Put some foam or a napkin between and it will be better. I’m a musician and studied sound engineering a bit
@@martinaakervik I never thought of that. Thanks!
@ it sounds just like it… it’s very intense into the ears kind of sound, because the vibration is much longer wavelength than what’s going through air into the membrane of your microphone. If your microphone is on a stand that is screwed to the desk it leads the vibration like it was the same material… and metal leads probably better than even your desk. Best thing would be stand not connected to desk at all. But rubber or so in between can probably fix it. All this said. I use hearing aids now. So I don’t trust my own ears as I did. But the little sound I heard had the same characteristic as this issue (an issue that we have a lot as musicians on stage or recording. It’s a common thing.)
I may purchase this game based on this one video alone. I've looked at the other game you mentioned last year, but it didn't look like there was any objective to it, so i went elsewhere. I may have been looking at a specific vr version, though
You can lock the helm with the right click.
Australia is the same size as the US with only six states and two mainland territories we love our distances too. The age of sail and discovery is my time travel destination, imagine setting sail into the unknown discovering new places.
Interesting game. Around 49:00 (in reality you can’t follow land of the west coast of Denmark because of underwater sandbanks. (That even moves around, so even locals struggle.) Must be quite a bit out on sea.
Cool… in rl you often get steering issues with a lot of sail behind the centre of mass depending on where the wind comes from.
Great video! I have been to a few ports and done some trading. Really enjoyed it even though it is really early access! So much potential.
32:18 I am european and I actually feel surprised and proud of your geographical knowledge! Very very above the american average!
Here's dev commenting, The funniest part was hovering over Riga and trying to figure out where it was as the game is developed exactly there (Btw at that time period it was in Russian Empire so that was sort of correct)
Great game Viking! Been putting a lot of hours in the last few weeks. Do you know where we can repair ships as my Frigate is taking a lot of water.
@@FougalCreations In european ports. Not in Mediterranean or Scandinavian. - they will be added in next update
Me knowing a dangerous little of sailing and loving the ocean, I am loving this!! So peacefull and away from all the wargaming....!
This game, IMO, needs to be adopted by a big developer, so much potential! So many ships that could be included from around the word for that time period. Trade would need to be incorporated, and diving for extra food too would be cool (pearl diving)?
The trade is implemented as far as i've seen. You can take contracts or buy and sell goods directly aswell.
Single developer game... He needs a lot more content, LOTS MORE, this game will never reach it's full potential sadly, although I will continue to fallow it's progress and hold out hope!
I like this game I also have some somewhat high hopes for it as I love the dude's other game my garage, If it's anything to go off of the game is going to be a bit fucking janky but it's also going to be decently detailed and very enjoyable
This game has accurate "weather" and "lee" helm. You have to balance the sailplan. Too much sail trim behind the CoG makes the boat turn into the wind like a weather vane. Too much sail/trim on the front of the boat makes it turn away from the wind. This only counts upwind and reaching. Off the wind is a crap shoot and has everything to do with the seas/ direction. Once I figured out that you can "heave to" in the sloop, its the only way Ive found to get any sleep when you have following seas.
“That smaller country in this area” Is my home, Riga 😂. It is now Latvia but it was part of Russia during the Age of Sail. 3:11
I agree, it does have a lot of potential. I picked it up after seeing it on your channel. I've found the boat has a strong tendency to turn windward, even with JUST the staysails deployed. I find this super weird. Also the gybing behavior is goofy. The boat immediately heels all the way to leeward when the stern comes across the wind, not the sails. Still, I'm hoping the developer stays active. The starting boat is nice to look at and it fills a niche for medium-size boats that Sailwind doesn't have. Pretty neat!
I can see this game becoming a big compettitor for Sailwind. But I personally still prefer Sailwind, it just "feels" better to me.
@@DaltonReutlinger Same.
About where Prussia was: It was kinda OVER TOP of Poland for a long time, basically landlocking Poland in the process. All other times, like when it was still the KINGDOM of Poland, it pretty much cut Prussia in half where it extended to the north sea. If this game takes place around the early 18th century, then Poland is currently halving Prussia in such a way. So you actually got it sorta right, you had all the right ideas in your head but you got mixed up in how much things changed in that regard (Prussia and Poland kinda swallowing another). The reason people make fun of Americans not knowing geography isn't really in cases such as yours but rather people who think "France" is the capital of Germany and stuff like that, where they don't struggle with pinpointing the borders of (historical and notoriously tumultuous) countries on a blank outline but rather with the most basic approximation where some major countries may be. Basically, the equivalent of what's being mocked would be if, say, an Italian person was asked to point toward Texas on a map and pointed at Somalia. Size isn't the issue, noone is mocking people for living in a larger or smaller country or state, just the lack of the most basic understanding of where roughly major countries lie if they aren't the US and maybe Canada that's displayed a lot on social media, which is obviously where we then get in contact with those people.
I knew it was around in that area, I just couldn't remember EXACTLY where it was. It's a bit different when the map doesn't have borders drawn on it lol
About your pledge to never put ads in your videos... Considering that UA-cam changed its TOS relatively recently to where they can and will put ads on videos REGARDLESS of whether the creator actually monetized the video, you may as well monetize it and at least keep some of the money UA-cam makes off of your video to yourself. Honestly, as long as you don't some day start dropping sponsorships in the middle of your video, you're considerably above most of UA-cam anyways.
IF that ever happens, they will be strictly at the very beginning or end of the video. I hate that as well!
Hey Dalton, I have a questions for you..... Not sure how far you have gotten into the game but do you know if there is any way of getting the ship afloat again if you run aground? Like Sail Wind there is a bit you can do. Enjoying the videos and looking for any tips or tricks. I just bought it yesterday. Best wishes :)
@@ob1983 it actually happened to me towards the end of the video. Basically, there is an anchor on each side of the ship you can place anywhere you want. Place it where you need it, then reel the ship in towards it.
@DaltonReutlinger thanks very much......so useful to know this.... cheers....
@@ob1983 No problem
Your first video on this made me buy it myself.
And Gdansk is definitely Poland❤
Gdansk is not as definitely Poland as you make it out to be. Depending on when exactly this game takes place, it's either Polish, Prussian, part of the Teutonic Order, part of multiple Duchies, entirely independent or part of a Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth.
It's not Russia it is Riga the capital of Latvia. This could be a great game.. Fingers crossed
Yeah, never call one of the Baltic states Russia, those folks hate that, lol.
amazing game.
It's almost as if our bodies know it's holiday season and does it's best to get sick 😅 like, stay at home, no moving about for you...i need this rest after all you put me through throughout the year 😂 anyways, have a prosperous 2025 and fair winds! 🍻
Surprise, surprise. Playing it aswell...let's go!🤙
Happy New Year and prosper for the 2025! Cant wait to see where this jorney takes you, Im exited myself to see what this game has to offer!
Great video, hope you do another one.... Cheers 👊
Yes that is how the mast is supposed to be. You are in London. There is the bleeding tower of London and London bridge right infront of your face.
23:59. Dude, SAME. I need to be able to get truly lost and have to figure it out, lol.
Found you from the Sail the Seas video and heard you talking about this game. Decided to check out this series on it, and I dig the game so far! Happy to hit that subscribe button and stick around to binge this lol
This is actually made by the same dev that makes My Garage. I believe that is aslo still early access, but from what I've gathered in one of the My Garage announcements is that this game is more of a passion project.
