This is the home of "Gray Hair Hiking!"
I am Pops, an over 65 guy who began hiking in my 60's. I thought it might be fun to have a channel that in part talks to gray haired hikers like myself! I have learned many techniques related to hiking that I think seniors might find helpful. Here you can explore videos of travels I have done, hiking tips, favorite hikes I have done across the country, and videos of interesting places I have visited. This channel is not just about hiking but travel too.
As I live in a remote canyon in Southern California, I will also occasionally post videos of the amazing things I see around me!
Please let me know about your experiences in the comments sections of the videos.

An American Discovers the Legacy of Jose Rizal: National Hero of the Philippines
This video looks at the life of Dr. José Rizal, the Philippines' national hero. It touches on his early years, education, and his role in exposing abuses of the Catholic priesthood at the time and Spanish colonial rule. Through his writings, particularly Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, Rizal exposed the injustices faced by Filipinos, leading a national awakening. The video highlights his advocacy for reform through education, and his tragic execution, which ultimately solidified his status as a martyr. With a blend of historical analysis, quotes from his famous works and personal insight, it describes Rizal’s ongoing influence on Philippine identity and independence celebrated every December 30th, the day of his execution.

Fairly new subscriber, keep it up Pops! My gf is Filipina & I've spent time in the PI as a young sailor. The history is fascinating. I recently watched the biography on Larry Itliong the labor organizer which was fascinating as well. Off topic, I watch you and Josh and your travels, which are awesome by the way, and noticed that you are claustrophobic and acrophobic. As I've aged I have become more uncomfortable in close settings as well. Caves. MRI scanners etc. I'm worried I may have a problem with flying. I haven't flown in quite a while but would like to. How do you manage that?
Pops, great video! If you haven't already read it, The Great Bridge by David McCullough is a really enjoyable and well-written history of the Brooklyn Bridge.
Thanks so much for the recommendation! Thx also for watching.
5:30 Proof that Jose Rizal was a Luciferian Freemason....
This didn’t pop up when it was uploaded, so we just watched. Very cool.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you
⚡️ 😳
Great advice, One product believe it or not is really good for adults as well as children It's pediolite , I use it when i'm hiking all the time 😊
Good advice!
He was inspired by the book Uncle Tom's Cabin, so he wrote those two novels.

It sure is beautiful! Thx for watching.
@popshiking we like similar things! I love history and hiking too!
Wow I didn't know Pops have his own channel. Thank you for making a video about our national hero ❤
Thank you for watching and for the kind words!
Jose Rizal was fighting for equality and wanted the Philippines to become a province of Spain with full representation in the Spanish Cortes. Not independence.
I live in So Cal about an hour from Palm Springs area and wasn't aware of some of the spots yu highlighted. Looking forward to exploring the area more now.
Got some other SoCal ideas in mind for the future. Thx for watching!
Thank you for sharing the history of our NATIONAL HERO JOSE P. RIZAL

tanjera?? its so ANNOYING
America chose this hero for the Philippines in 1901 as a safe bet over someone like Bonifacio who was more like George Washington who actually fought for independence in the battlefield. Rizal was more like Thomas Jefferson, in regards his roles in the revolution. The national hero should be one of the people, not some rich kid who writes about how unfair the world is to him as he travels the world spending his parents money. Rizal was never about Philippine independence and he didn't even care about the common indios. Rizal was fighting for the illustrados to be given equal treatment to the spanish.
They are both heroes lapu lapu is warrior and Jose Rizal is a educated man against what the spanish abused and tyrantcy on the pilipino people.
not a big fan of rizal..to me, bonifacio is the real one!
What a great writer and artist! Great find!
He was brilliant in so many areas! Thx for watching.
May taong parang MANG-GA, MANG-GAGAMIT ng IBA dahil sa "NASA" na maging MALI-GAYA. MAY BABALA ANG SALANGIN AY BAWAL SA KANYA.
Jose Rizal is a relative of mine. He is a great great grand uncle. I come from the Alonso family, his mother’s family. Rizal’s mother is a sibling of my great great great grandfather.
Wow that is so cool! Any additional insights you might be able to share about him? I know there are experts who have studied his life and I am a novice at best. Just so amazing to have a family member comment. Thank-you!
Pass. I don't hike to meet people. I hike to get away from them
Hahaha fair enough!
This is the reason why education is so important for Pilipino The best thing that I admire Philippines country although the government are so corrupt is at least the have a free education for elementary grade to give them basic learning is good enough for the citizens for this country and for the next generation.
I have been so impressed with the people I have met there. I have visited to teach about disability issues and the kind hearts I have met have been remarkable.
The Land of Ophir🤫Ask the Spaniard and Vatican😢I am sure china knows🤫
The violent revolt Rizal was worried for happened anyway and it is seen as an important part of our history. We even view the people who led said revolt as heroes, too.
As do we in America.
Thats 30k views❤
I know! I am so appreciative of everyone watching. Thank you!

That would be beautiful!
Jose Rizal preceded Gandhi and Mandela as the first national heroes that were not warriors, soldiers or fighters.
A lot of truth in that. I also see him in a similar way as Dr. Martin Luther King.
Check this fact if this is true. There are 27 statues and monuments ,signs and plates scattered around the world of Jose RIzal.
