My own pops passed in 2022. He was fascinated by Abraham Lincoln & would’ve loved this video. He had some artistic ability & in his last year of life probably drew over 50 Lincoln portraits. He often said Lincoln’s face showed his wisdom & his tribulations. Thank you for sharing this video.
Subscribe to your channel this afternoon while watching the live stream. Always enjoy you and Josh videos, enjoyed learning you had a channel as well. Also looked on your website and the work you do. I think what my wife and I like about Josh’s channel is the genuineness of the both of you and learning your background and work you do explains that now. Looking forward to viewing your channel.
Hey Pops! I had to run to your channel while you and Josh are still doing the Live event. I’m going to call the Lincoln Project awesome as usual thank you.
I've done the Lincoln Hwy through PA and yes, the Gettysburg statue is my favorite, too. When I first saw it, at a distance I thought a real person was standing next to him, until I got closer and in front!
Absolutely 💯 love this vid, Pops! So many great things I didn’t know about Lincoln! And your video shots are spot on; just enough to enhance your narration and vice-versa! 🙌🏻🎩🇺🇸 Travel Blessings! 🗺️🪽
The Lincoln in Fremont was done by the Mullins co. of Salem, OH. One of several similar statues across the US. Artist was John Segesman who worked for Mullins.
I reckon A. Lincoln to be the most revered US president (along with JFK) & I really enjoy the way you travel across states, so different from one another never letting go of that sense of wonder about your own country. On this side of the Atlantic, it would be seen as chauvinistic & nationalistic. In the US, you call it Patriotism. Great country, great history & great people! Thank you for the little insights (insides) which history books tend to omit!
The statue in Prospect Park in Brooklyn is not the first statue erected to Lincoln. The first was in San Francisco but was destroyed in the SF earthquake. The oldest existing full-sized statue of Lincoln is in Washington DC and was dedicated in 1868. Sculptor was Lott Flannery.
Some viewers may be interested in the book Assassination Vacation by Sarah Vowell. She travels the country visiting sites and memorials to our assassinated Presidents. Very good. Listen on tape if you can because she has a wonderful voice.
You were in Chicago and missed the most important Lincoln Statue of all. Lincon the Man by Augustus Saint Gaudens in Lincoln Park! He also used the Volk mask as a model. Saint Gaudens also has a seated Lincoln in Grant Park in Chicago.
The bearded Lincoln in the Studebaker Museum is not a Volk despite the signage. It looks more like a plaster bust by Max Bachman made by the Caproni and Brother Co. of Boston, Mass.
I pray they never tear those down. That be disgusting and horrible and slap and lincoln's face.He was a good president and had a hard time and people should appreciate

After watching this video and also listening to you and Josh on his live yesterday, I want to do the Lincoln Highway.
You should! Even parts of it which are closer to where you live.
I loved the variety of statues with each one telling its own story
Glad you enjoyed it as I thought they were really interesting!
