Hello Anna. I just came across your channel. I really liked what you are saying here. I have been experimenting for the last year with different yarns and patterns. I have decided I would rather use the heavier yarns like Patons Kroy for my socks and I have found that toe up are more fitted to my foot. I did find a couple of patterns that are using the slip stitch heel and I love the way it is fitting. I am glad you talked about the Opal yarn. I have been curious about it. I live in Colorado, USA so it is good to know where I can get it. I have one of my LYS that carries West Yorkshire Spinners yarn, so I bought one to try. I am going to look at some of your past episodes. Thank you for doing this.
I did download the pattern last night. I will make it with my Xmas Minnie.
Anna your videos are so interesting and different I am watching your vlogmas from last year. Thank you for a lovely evening while I knit .
So many beautiful makes. Thanks for sharing!
ua-cam.com/video/Gs5VnLw4N3s/v-deo.htmlsi=A2YI7v04QUrwXLxE thought you might like to see them decorate their tree with German ornaments so beautiful
is the bahnspitzer toe the german short row toe?
Praying for you and your new family. Hope baby is doing well! Savor these moments! ❤
I'm so thrilled that your gift this Christmas is the blessing of your new son. I can't wait to see him, IF you decide to share any pictures. Please care for Benny so he will not be a jealous big brother. God bless you and Tommy and the babies. Congratulations on this precious gift from God! Stay healthy!
I am now on my 5th blanket following your instructions. 3 x 16 x16, 2 x 12 x 12 which is a great knee blanket size. Now the ends, I use the weavin Stephen (West) method to weave them in as I go saves such a lot of work. I go in the purl bumps when picking up sts as I find that easier and neater. Thank you so much for starting my mitred blanket addiction.
This was so helpful - thank you! I especially loved your advice about knitting 5 squares in each direction to start. I like working projects in a “chunk” so this gives me a way to easily measure progress. I also use a crochet hook to get started in the corner, those first stitches are the hardest to pick up.
LG
wow🎉
Soooo helpful!
Anna, thanks a lot for this wonderful and clear tutorial. I have learned so much ! Blessings for you and your little family ❤!
Persimmon is a fruit Anna💕
Anna your such a sweet person. You will make a great mom , god bless you and your hubby and look forward to meeting your new addition.❤
You with baby look wonderful. It was fun to see the beautiful items you knitted and crocheted. I can't wait to see pictures and hopefully videos of all 3 of you. And look forward to learning his name. God bless you all.
When I had my daughter, you had to stay in hospital for 10 days unless you insisted on going home. But that was 55 years ago! In 1:04:41 my mum’s day, ‘lying in’ was 40 days.
I love my clover hooks!!
@@rdeniserhinehart7512 I tried them both yesterday. And the clover hook is much smoother and faster than the tulip. 👍🏻
Star pillow🤩
I haven’t heard the phrase ‘child bed’. I am glad to hear that the recovery period is supported there. I’m not sure I would have liked to be in bed so much (I’m one of those boomers), but I did enjoy having my mother with us for 2 weeks after birth. I would have liked a longer spell of less responsibility. I am glad I didn’t have to go to work, though, and was able to be home with my children. Those first couple of weeks after my babies were born were some of my favorite memories. You will be so glad to have meals ready and even your project bags ready. I didn’t knit yet when I was having babies so I don’t know if I would have wanted to knit (probably would), but I remember just wanting to hold and talk to or look at my baby. I will look forward to hearing your news! You mentioned just wanting to work on your crochet blanket. I think there is something soothing about crochet. I knit and crochet and love both, but I also have spells of just wanting the motion of crocheting.
@@skhoyt6024 if the woman feels strong enough to leave the bed nothing speaks against it. It depends very much on how much she got wounded during the birth. But all midwives suggest to lay as much as possible in the first week to prevent damage of the pelvic floor. It’s wonderful that you had your mother over to help you. ❤️ Nowadays all women work so usually young mothers are alone during the day and only get help after everyone returns from work. 😣
Please also consider that for others it may not be pride or feeling strong that caused them to not have a lying-in period, but rather necessity. When generation after generation had no help because they had no support network to help for free and couldn't afford to pay someone to come in to help, they simply toughened their mindset to adjust. I'm only 40 and in the US, so not necessarily of the generations and places you're speaking, but maybe have a bit of empathy for others instead of assuming their motives for not staying in bed. I'm glad you're able to get help and that it's paid for, and I know you're thankful for the ability to do it, but consider that traditionally it was more the wealthy or people with good support systems who got to have lie-in's. I'm not saying it's right not to have it, but maybe others don't feel it's necessary for your healthcare to pay for it because they "survived" without it.
@@christinescamihorn6609 I am aware of women who have no support system and can’t afford to rest. And I mentioned it in my video when I said that I know there is no money from the state or the insurance in the US for example. What I don’t understand and don’t like is the way women (especially here in Germany) speak about and directly to women who take their time and rest. They call them lazy for example. And the reason for that can’t be that they can’t afford to stay home because they receive money from the insurance (8 weeks postpartum) and for the following whole year from the government. So it’s an unnecessary competition between women.
@@annaknitterI know you said that in your video. How long has the healthcare system been providing those benefits?
@@christinescamihorn6609 the Mutterschutz (6 weeks plus 8 weeks since 1952 and the parental leave over 30 years I don’t know when it started exactly).
@@annaknitter Generationally, that makes a lot of sense then. They had it ingrained in them so much, and I'm sure they felt they were a drain on society and lazy themselves if they took advantage of it. 😔
@@christinescamihorn6609 i am not sure. Germans have a long history of social security since Bismarck. Be it as it may. That may explain why people are hard on themselves but not why they instill guilt in the younger generation. They could be happy for them that their life is easier nowadays. It’s 50/50 with elderly people. Some are loving and generous and voice that to young moms. And others seem to be bitter about their own past and don’t want others to have it better.
My first baby was a kicker. My second was like a butterfly fluttering. 😊
The father - son socks are beautiful. The matching does not matter. I don't worry, knowing pant legs will cover them.
I am praying for you and this precious little boy and that the Lord will give you strength. I was a SAHM, and I enjoyed every moment of it. Staying home makes it possible to fully heal and it is a blessing for the whole family. I have to agree with so many of the viewpoints rhat you share in your podcasts.
That is great! Being a SAHM was the standard for women all over the world for most of human history. The concept of women leaving the house all day is a fairly new experiment that has gone wrong in my opinion. I am glad that my husband and I agree on that.
The silent and boomers where the generations during the two world wars and the generation right after the two major wars so yes things were much different then
But I wish they had more empathy. Some of that generation are able to say things like: „I am glad you can take your time today.“ but many don't seem to begrudge the young generation.
The sock set for Daddy and son are so adorable! When you held them up, I audibly said, “awwww”! ❤
Thank you! I feel the same. Our boy also has a matching sweater with his Dad for Christmas. 😇❤
I love the Westie bag. 😃 Hi Benni from Theo.
Your are wise beyond your years and so refreshing to hear your eloquent words. That little pumpkin hat is SO sweet and the daddy-son socks pulled at my heart strings. Bless you and keep well ✝️🙏❤
Thank you very much! I am not sure if I am wise. But I learned that it is beneficial to go back a little more in time to learn from older generations. They got a lot right. ☺
Your pumpkin hat will be fine! I knit a 6 month size hat for a friend since their baby will be that age in the winter. They put it on his head when he was a newborn and sent me a picture. It looked fine!
Great! Probably that head - which is relatively big in relation - doesn’t grow as fast as the rest of the baby’s body.
