You and I have the same list of things we want to learn and try! You’ll probably get them done before I will, so I will enjoy them vicariously through you❤

I loved this episode! I think your "make nine" could be anything and your list: finish skirt, make cropped sweater, etc sounded like a perfect make nine! I baked sourdough crackers and cinnamon muffins yesterday. I love being able to fill the house with homemade baked goods ❤

I have so many Opal balls still in the closet waiting to knit up. I think I will take out all the grey ones and crochet or knit a blanket with it. I also want to do this with all the blues ones.
I really have so many but I can't stop with the subscription, I like it to much 😃
Can't wait to see what colors we get in a few days.

Oh sweet Anna. You are so very German planning your gift knitting and hobbies a year ahead of time ❤. You have so many interests that you would need several lifetimes to do them all.
I can't plan gifts because I start hating the project if it slows down or doesn't turn out perfect. I also get tremendous satisfaction from spontaneous gifts. This last year I gave away my entire blanket stash and my favorite shawl.
In January 2023, I made the mistake of planning projects and even buying some of the yarn ahead of time, and now a year later, I have no interest in a couple of those projects, so this year I won't do that. I'm planning to do less planning ;)
I do have an idea for your unused Opal skeins (extra yarn weighs on me too). How about doing a full skein Advent swap, or an Advent giveaway - one full skein for each week? I travel and pick up locally produced and dyed skeins here in the US and have more than I can use in a year. I don't have Opal here though. I would love to swap US yarns with German yarns. Regarding my extras, I am fortunate to have a friend; a sweet Catholic lady who loves to take the extra yarn from me when my knitting dreams are too big for my abilities.
I hope you enjoyed your lebkuchen. I am receiving my stollen today!

I never plan gifts too specifically. I don*t plan the yarn and the pattern but I know for example the person will get a sock or scarf. That way it doesn't get so boring for me.
I am already giving a way many Opal yarns to our monthly winners (Anna's Knit Club). Every month we knit for an other prompt and every month someone wins a price and mostly it is yarns. ☺

    Dear Anna,
If you like Jigsaw-Puzzles , you might perhaps have fun knitting one of Stephen West's Jigsaw-puzzle Patterns. I really enjoyed it!
Thank you for your daily inspiration
Merry Christmas to you and your family🌲

Hi Anna, I love mentos, (the fresh maker) LOL you are quite a baker! I don't ever make plans. After I finish my knitted jaket, I just want to read books. I just want to relax my mind as much as possible. Play a little poker texas holde'm lol (already play every day;) I need to find a quiet day, and see how far I came in my inner/outer work. Like a inventory of myself. ;) before the end of this year. 2024 will show me what plans it has for me, or none at all, who knows...!? :)

Yes, the fresh maker! 😅 Now I have the commercial in my mind. That guy who sat down on a freshly painted bench. 😁

I think the gift planning is a great idea for a lot of people! It doesn‘t work for me personally because I‘m just not in the mood for Christmas until Septemer/October come round. I do check out the sales after Christmas & find some reduced goodies for the following year so sometimes have an idea in mind, but mostly wants/needs don‘t come up until later in the year - my grandchildren are young enough that maybe tractors are no longer so cool so it needs to be kittens instead, or something!! And their favourite colours can shift, too. I do make a lot of socks all the year round, but sometimes have a last-minute mad moment, like when I suddenly decided mid-Dec to use the Buttinette Christmas sock yarn to make 4 pairs of socks for a family nearby… luckily I can make a pair in a couple of days!! 🫣 This year I did at least decide on 2 prs of men‘s socks in 6-ply so they are a bit quicker (nearly done!). One year I decided to make hats for everyone at Christmas dinner and used them as place settings, which was fun but 8 hats in 7 days 😮 I mean, I do enjoy Advent knitting, but…!
My older grandchildren had knits for their birthdays so I‘m not knitting for Christmas for them but the two smallest are getting a sweater and a slipover with Dala horses on 👍😍🐴 so I‘m still working on those! I started a slipover last year for my husband but wasn‘t happy with it so ripped it all back and started again😮 I don‘t know if that will get finished in time but it doesn‘t really matter! Same with the dog sweater that gets pushed to the bottom of the pile because, charts…
I love the idea of assigning one additional craft a month! This year I have finally been reading more again, but I‘ve been intending to finish a 25 yr old cross stitch for a couple of years now, so 2024 would be good 😂 I have other stitching ideas, too. In winter I like to do a jigsaw or some colouring, too. And painted/watercolour calligraphy… I picked up a school loom at a Brockenhaus so that‘s another thing I‘ve been wanting to do. Also to write more letters again. Never bored!!

What great ideas! I want to make Christmas sweaters for my grandchildren, but now that I have 8, it seems way too daunting. But, if I make each one as a birthday gift, it will space them out over the year and I think that's something I could handle! Now I'm excited to plan and choose a pattern and yarn😊❤

Dear Anna! It´s not sure, but maybe "Leb" comes from the latin word "libum" Fladen. Or from the older form of "Laib". Aunt wikipedia was telling me this.
Christmas or gift knitting never works for me. My children, husband, dad and brother gets their knits, when they are done. Only two SIL and my other brother received their presents at their birthday. But these 3 are not at my usual knitting list.
I am not planning, what to cast on next, I am planning what I want to finish. I have several projects on the go. And sometimes its just time to get something off the needle. At the moment I am knitting one more sock for my daughter, next a pair of socks for my dad (one finished, one to knit) and bedsocks with 6 ply yarn. After this, a sweater for my husband and a sweater for me (one arm to finish). Or maybe socks for me?
I don´t want to spend time on another hobby, other than knitting and crochet. For everything I would have to buy extra stuff and I have to find a place and time and money to do it. But my daughter had a lot of fun with Linoldruck in school and we bought a starterset for her. I think after Christmas we will try it all together.
Now I have a lot of folding and ironing to do and then I am baking Terrassen.
    Have a nice day
    Judith

I also wanted to mention that I listened to the fireside chat today and am totally hooked. I loved how thought provoking it was on happiness vs fun. Thank you for sharing. I tried using the app you mentioned but didn't have as good of a streaming experience as I did listening to it on spotify. I'm not sure if you have this streaming app for music and podcasts?
But I wanted to thank you again for the mention of it Anna.

Lovely to watch you pack and thank you for the suggestions! I too have a lot of different hobbies and crafts I enjoy and new ones I want to explore - Slow Stitching for example. I will get a Bullet journal and start thinking about the year ahead and being more intentional about the things I enjoy. Happy Advent, Anna!!

I think it’s a marvelous idea to give away some of your Opal yarn. Perhaps to your faithful followers? (This is not self-serving, as I’ve only been following you for a year…you have some very long-term faithful followers!).
The “battle” you’re talking about sounds like something on social media that is pulling you away from knitting other things you might like. Just my observation.
I don’t use a formal journal, but I make lists in my iPad each year of the things I want to craft for the following year, and then I check off the items I finish, and sometimes cross off or add on items when I change my mind during the year. I keep the lists so I can look back to see what I’ve done and look forward to see what I want to do. I just had a thought…I should make my lists by month! That will focus my crafting even better-maybe I will get more done!

Yes we have Mentos. And I know what it's like at the check out line. Dangerous. 😂You are so inspiring. Do you make New Year's resolutions in Germany? Every year I try to resolve to be more organized and I am actually beginning to get a little better but I feel that you've given me some really good ideas. Thank you.

    • @annaknitter
      @annaknitter  7 місяців тому

Yes we make resolutions too. Typically it something like loosing weight, going to the gym more often, quitting to smoke. And usually it doesn't work. 😅 I don't make resolutions like that. Micro goals are more realistic and I don't wait for January to do so. 😄

Hi Anna, this is first year I will be using make nine board. I knit and crochet and have made a make nine board for each. So, two boards. I feel very organized and excited about trying this for the new year…we will see how it works out😊I too have other hobbies such as cross stitch and working on longer term blankets. I didn’t include these in make nine. I use my weekends to work on these…ex. Cross stitch on Saturday, blankets on Sunday. Hope maybe this helps with giving you ideas for your planning!❤

I'm curious about two things that are not knitting related... firstly the pumpkin bread recipie you baked in one of your other vlogmas episodes (my husband wants it) and second, that machine you used when making the dough for the bread in this episode?
And I so need to rewatch this one, since I started googleling to find that machine :P

The recipe is written for the machone (and it is german) but I am sure you can translate it with google translator: www.will-mixen.de/kuerbisbrot-aus-dem-thermomix/
