It is surprising to hear that it is difficult to find Sunday Mass. My home parish is on the smaller side for this part of Texas and we have 4 sunday mass options every week just at our parish - we really need to appreciate that more! Have a blessed 2nd week of Advent Anna ❤

Same here. We have three parishes in my town of 150,000 or so and we have four Sunday Masses, as well, not including the Saturday vigil. We also have Confession available before every single Mass, which I know is quite unusual. I’m so grateful for our hardworking priest. ❤ I’m so sorry you have such a difficult time finding a Mass, Anna. Knowing the state of the German Church right now, though, it’s not that surprising. 😔
Wow, I am sorry to hear that it is hard for you to find good faithful priests and regular Sunday Mass. I admire your persistence to get to Mass regardless! I need to remember to be more grateful . I live in the state of Wisconsin in the United States and am very blessed with many options to attend Masses, including a beautiful Traditional Latin Mass very close to our home. Communism destroyed a lot here in eastern Germany and you still see the after effects of it even 30 years later. Only 20% of people in Thuringia belong to ea church. Only 7% of them are catholic. And now keep in mind that most of them never go to churh. But I grew up in northern Germany and besides the many holy shrines we have there spiritual life is maybe even more difficult. But there is hope! I read an article that said the new priests are mostly conservative. So I hope the old 1968ies and their ideoligies fade away now.
I am making a popcorn garland too…I couldn’t find any “cranberries” but I am enjoying the process and end result without them. Maybe next year I can make more with the beads. Happy Monday Anna!
I am sure the "popcorn only version" makes a pretty decoration for the tree as well. I came to the realisation that white ornaments pop on the tree and add a little glamour to it. I have some crocheted stars in white and I am sure the white garland will fit nicely.
It's interesting you have to go to a few churches to be able to attend a Sunday service every week. It's good you were able to find ones with good pastors though. We have many churches around us but many of them don't have good teachings so we are still looking for a home church, we usually watch church online of a pastor we like because he is many states away. Also, you are right they are called green beans in english. We would say green beans so they would not be confused with other beans like the kind you would eat with rice or chili.
We live in difficult and at the same time easier times than ever before when it comes to religious practice. Imagine not having the possibilty to connect with churches, priests or lay people that are true to the gospel via the internet. We would be screwed. But I would much pefer to have a parish with many faithful people of all generations.
Good morning! Yes, we do say bean, or more specifically green bean, for the long beans you made. We use bean in general for most legumes and usually with the the type of bean it is. For example butter bean or Butterbohne. The US is also experiencing a shortage of priests in the Catholic church as well as other denominations. Where once one could find a church 'on every corner' and up to four services on a Sunday, that is no longer the case. Many priests will serve two or three churches now and those churches having just 1 service. It's a shame.
It is a very sad trend. It would be so much easier if we had more active lay people who are really believers. At least we would have someone to pray with and exchange thoughts and encourage each other's faith. But no priests and no religious friends is really hard.
I love that you dress nice for Mass. You look great in your tights! One of my goals (I'm 56, am I too old?) is to lose my weight and be able to wear shorter skirts (knee length) and wear tights. I think they look good on thin women.
Thank you! My parents taught us to have garments only for church and special occasions. I don't have many garments (I don't enjoy shopping for them) but I try to keep what they taught me. I still remember vividly the shopping tours with my Mama when I was a child and needed new good clothes for Easter or Christmas because I grew out of the ones from the year before. ☺
