But for real though I would love for this game to get remastered by #Crytek or #DambusterStudios like #MWR
DLC campaign makes up for the game. I give this a 7.3 Oh the mp horde mode is fun.
This game was a Great start for the Alien horror game. Of course, this game has some issues, but still is very enjoyable.
This is my favourite horror game of all time. It's not perfect but it gets most things right. When this game came out most horror games were just action games like Dead Space and Resident Evil. This game actually made you feel completely powerless which I think is really important in horror.
HO HO ...CAREFUL If the current wave of fanboy-cancel mob sniff you and take a few rods out of context, they will attack you. MandaloreGaming had similar opinions and was not canceled by it ...and yet IGN guy is still molested after 10 years for his opinion. Maybe you are safe... you just talked and not gave a final score. Smart. I see it as 7 as a game, and 8 as a project ...and for current times for current mob 8 and 9 respectively, because everything is shit. And no, it's not accurate with alien movies, it's misguiding. It would be better if there was no shotgun we could use on alien at all... aliens died from shotguns in movies... even pistols. Those should come later if they really wanted to force androids, even better, force us to waste ammo on androids, and later in the game fully release alien. But whatever, I would rebuild the whole idea from the grounds up. People don't know how masterpiece would look like, this is a LOVE LETTER... silly, cringy at times, not perfect, but passionate and with good intentions... it will get received by some and rejected by others... a LOVE LETTER.
Don't get me wrong the game pissed me off a lot a lot of times but once I got into it I couldn't put it down it is a lot of fun just wish it was longer
Look it's not dead space but when I play this game I couldn't put it down I just wanted to beat these zombies at their own game... I started selling my healing injectors... Best thing to do is upgrade that melee weapon as soon as possible with the arm break
The multiplayer was actually fun and scary at times. And it did not fall off after a year. Absolutely untrue. Especially if you actually liked it.
I love this game I played it multiple times. Had potential to be great.
About that future sequel being shelved...
@@FroxyFz :D
The one truth Randy Pitchford told about this game was when he said that the Wii U version was the best. It was cancelled, so no one ever had to suffer playing the damn thing.
The game definitely had too many Working Joes and definitely not enough Alien.
Also Nicole became a Milf instead of GF
Hated issac remake design. He looked soo much better in the Original
I do think the game is a little bit too long, there's many times where you are forced to back track just to pad out the runtime. With that said I think the length of the game makes finally escaping the station and the subsequent end of the game all the more satisfying. I've never felt a release of tension like I did the first time I beat Alien Isolation.
I booted this game up again recently to see if it was as bad as I remembered. In short, it was. This game is just as awful in 2024 as it was in 2013. If there's anyone out there who's interested in playing this game for the first time to see to see what all the fuss was about, or anyone like myself who is thinking about revisiting the game, don't bother. This is one of the most broken, unpolished, unfinished, abysmal pieces of crap I've ever had the displeasure of playing. It's an absolute insult to Alien and videogame fans alike.
What most miss out on is the fact that the game is so nerve wracking that I used to play for 10-20 mins then take a break and come back after a few hours because it had me genuinely scared and I couldn't keep up with constantly being tense and nervous. I loved the length of the game and personally for me this is the perfect Alien game.
It makes me so sad this flopped, the story could have been game of the YEAR the story could also be an amazing tv show on HBO I pray we get a part 2 with a better story. This story was super boring and the girl is worse than res evil 5’s partner
I appreciate that this reviewer loves the game and, thus, gives it its do. However, whenever i hear certain criticisms of this game, I get irritated because those criticisms seem to lack a certain attention to details, certain contexts, certain realities that logically result in the game we were given. For example, the "repetitive environment" critique. For one thing, the design aesthetic applied here was slavishly devoted to ensuring that nothing was designed that wouldn't have been possible to create for a film set in 1979. That logically limits the scope of design variability, and frankly, I think most of us appreciate that faithfulness to the original design aesthetic. Secondly, we're talking about a space station in deep space. In universe, much like the real world, designing a functional facility, much less one of such gargantuan size and scale, requires an attention to function rather than form in an environment as fundamentally harsh as space; especially with a used future in which the technology is as primitive and analog as it was when the original film was first made. Of course, it's all going to look the same. A company like Seegson, or Weyland-Yutani, isn't going to care about building functional environments that vary in design. The person designing these environments is only creating a facility to be functional in space. I could go on about other criticisms of this game that are often leveled, unfairly in my opinion, but this example typifies the issue with all of them.
Dead Space meets The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay sounds like something that could potentially be amazing on paper if done right.
Nah I think it’s better because it’s the face of the actual actor to me that’s better THAT IS Isaac
They're actually making a sequel
Got it on Steam for $20.00 with Final Transmission. Enjoyed the game. Solid 7/10. Ran great on 7800x3d 4070ti. No stutters and only crasherd once.
The fact people are still talking about this game is a testament to how good is it. It's easily one of the best horror games ever made.
I never played alien isolation but that sequel makes me want to try
@@b4kiv you should
I was never even a fan of the alien movies or franchise but this game made me a lot more interested in the alien lore and story. It’s an underrated masterpiece. This is a space horror game done right in almost every way. I’m so happy the devs are making a sequel now can’t wait for what they will bring next.

Great catch up! Really enjoyed your critical and fair take on its strength and flaws. The only thing I'd kinda critically comment on, is the statement that the game had mixed reception at launch, as yes, three of the bigger review outlets gave it a 6/10-kinda rating, but pretty much all other outlets lauded the game. Its metascore was above 8/10 pretty much from the get go, so in reality it did not have a mixed reception at launch.
The result wasn"t what they promised, but I like It. I've played the campain 3 or 4 times. And the last one was yesterday. I even bought the DLC... I enjoyed.🤷🤷
I enjoyed the multiplayer modes, and Bug Hunt was fun, but even that suffered from lazy programming. I remember that increasing the difficulty level just turned the aliens into bullet sponges, where it would take 3 to 4 magazines of pulse rifle ammo to take down one alien. I'm not sure I'd describe (most of) the fan service as lazy. The impression it gave me when I first played it (with the Goldeneye 64 level of effort that had gone into recreating the maps) was that, at some point (during its long development, and many developers) it was being made by people who had a genuine passion for it, but that this did not follow through into the final product. Such a wasted opportunity. Great video.
Joel and Ellie are not modeled based on their real life actors.. I don't know why they had to put this pasty white buzz lightyear looking ass in the game.. I'm okay with changing up some of the levels and narrative to an extent.. This face swap just seems completely unnecessary and if anything takes away from the everyday looking man Isaac used to be.
It’s honestly an okay game, except for how many human enemies there are. It’s a AA game people thought was going to be a AAA. It happens all the time, but it was the best aliens fun we had until a few years later
everytime I play this game I fall in love with it again
A friend of mine recently spoke with various devs who worked on Colonial Marines as part of an article he wrote. It was an uphill battle to put it lightly. Poor communication/mismanagement, an uncooperative game engine, and a studio (Gearbox) who couldn't make up their mind as to what Colonial Marines should be were the big reasons why Colonial Marines turned out the way it did. Hicks wasn't originally going to be the Maguffin. It was supposed to be a Weyland Yutani scientist seeking revenge against the company, but Gearbox changed it because, "Let's retcon Alien 3!" Several ideas and enemies were cut, like healing stations and an albino xenomorph that was essentially a walking tank. Ironically, the teams that worked on multiplayer and DLC didn't face as much interference.
This game with the VR mod is crazy scary.
I thought it was only me. I fell for the hype and a few hours in i almost fell asleep twice while playing. This is the most boring game I've ever played
Comparing Isolation's story to Alien, they're very similar in the "everything fails" department. They heal a crewmember, he ends up dying. They search for the little alien, it had grown into a big one. They make a motion tracker and a flamethrower, it fails. They trust Mother, she betrays them. And so it goes. Same with isolation.
This game could have been really awesome if they opened up the pass a little more did some side missions and some backtracking with some extra rooms the game would have been really awesome
Wow this game crashes every 15 minutes I'm playing the PS4 version on the PS5 and it crashes every 15
I actually think the game is really good!! Id even say I enjoyed it just as much as dead space for different reasons such as game play and lore. If you thought Callistos story was flat then so was dead space… I mean that bit about his wife wasn’t all that attention grabbing no more than trying to figure out what virus killed all those people on Europa and I disagree with your assessment on Dannies acting. I think it was right on the money, it showed her grieving already but now is not the time to be an emotional wreck she needs to be focused to accomplish her mission and make sure that the who had died got the justice they deserve and that this atrocious attack never happens to anyone else. I wish they would’ve did the game justice and gave it another year or so to add a little more to it because even though I enjoyed playing it I completely understand the argument about the melee feeling repetitive I can definitely see that…the could’ve added a stealth element to the game and had some of the guards and inmates who are in the very early stages of infection be in the mix where you get into shoot outs or can go around and stealth kill people, get real creative and utilize the monsters and pin them against the guards or for the robot security since they can detect effected and are killing inmates you and an effected security guard can temporarily team up to beat it…there is definitely some room to truly set Callisto apart from Dead Space if given more time and idk how much budgeting was an issue as well…but even still with everything that it lacks man it’s a pretty fun game easily 8 or 7.5 out of 10
this will inspire u too fewgs ua-cam.com/video/9t5G5XwDzmk/v-deo.htmlsi=w1m26Fu0fsk46F1N

@@Centrifewgi xDDD anyways excellent writing and analysis my dude. love the details and connection to other things in life. have a great weekend!
@BurntSofa you as well bud!
Environmental story telling is such an awesome touch in anything and it feels just as important as the story itself whether that's with established characters or characters a person makes themselves in other games where you can customize your characters living space. All in all great video cheers
@azure_truth2075 thanks bud!
I'm honestly surprised Gearbox didn't get into an entirely separate lawsuit from them stealing money meant for Colonial Marines and pumping it into Borderlands 2, that has to be illegal-
This game is so, so, SOOOOO much better if you actually pay attention when you pick up the motion tracker and learn that it points to your next objective. On my first playthrough my dumb ass didn't read that part and I often got fed up circling around trying to figure out where I was supposed to go next.
I swore I would never play another gear box game because of this game. And I have kept that promise.
