My headcanon for the fast gestation rate is due to the scientific experimentation and how WT refined the alien to grow as quickly as possible - so that they have lots of samples for their experiments, which ultimately led to them isolating the black goo and refining it. So, maybe that's cope, but whatever...
@serpenthydra It was said in the movie that they can change the pace of their metobolic rate at will, so I'm assuming they can grow faster depending on their surroundings? Idk, very all over the place.
Gonna try to save some of my thoughts for my review, but man on man let me tell you!! I loved this movie more then dead pool and wolverine, there was no slow pacing it got me on the edge of my seat and had my heart pounding from beginning to end. And let me tell you that engineer hybrid is definitely not dead, and I loved it, it creeped my girlfriend out to the point she had to cover her mouth out of disgust and discomfort but I loved that hybrid, I wish there was more people so we can see more kills but man 10/10 for me, and ash cgi was not that good but hey it takes a lot to make cgi look good, so I respect that
Here's my take on the fast gestation rate. I noticed that that when the alien came out of the character it seemed to really struggle with its emergence, like it was premature. As for the Alien in the womb type cacoon, the alien has always grown fast adding to its creepy factor so I'm fine with that. The only gestation speed that bugs me is Alien Covenant in which Oram only has the face hugger on him for litteral seconds but still the facehugger is able to lay the larva in him. I've just accepted that David's breed of Alien is more effeciant than nature as he is trying to improve on their design. Tangent over. As for Romulus its self. I would rate it 4th in the series with Alien and Aliens being in first and second and Alien 3 being in third as I really love that movie. Great review, glad to hear some positive thoughts!
@RedAce93 I like Alien 3, but it's hard to take it seriously with all its problems. I think the chestburster may have been premature too because it's up higher in the chest cavity, and I think that is because the crew rip the facehugger off before it can finish. Hence why it gets up and fights back.
I agree with most of what you said and agree that the pacing was spot on. After about 15 minutes, your on the station and ready to rock. I liked that, but it also hurt the characters for me and caused me to not really care when they died. I agree rain and andy were the best characters, but everyone else was just a body. Didnt dampen the movie for me in the grand scheme, but I didnt feel for them like i did the nostromo crew. That said, the whole "acid bath" kill made my skin crawl, but he sucked so oh well. As far as the human alien, i dont know if i imagined it or not, but it looked like it had a constant toothy "smile" and i absolutely hated it! Very unsettling. Overall, i thought it was a good time and its nice to finally see the franchise get a win.
@Deadspace123100 100% most of the characters, while the did serve a purpose, were kinda there to die. The hybrid most certainly did have an incredibly sinister smile that made my skin crawl. Hopefully, we will get more movies in the future. Sales seem to be up for now.
I'm not gonna go as far as saying it's better than Aliens. And it's been so long since I've seen Alien 3 so I can't compare. So it's either right behind, as good as, or better than Alien 3. This film did for the Alien franchise what Prey did for Predator. Wash the terrible taste out of our mouths from the previous movie. And save the franchise from certain death by being a solid movie that goes back to the series' roots where doing some new and interesting things. I enjoyed this movie quite a bit and I'm looking forward to seeing what Alien related project Fede Alvarez does next. Also, I hope this movie gets Alien Isolation 2 made
@DPham1 Isolation 2 all the way! After having just watched Aliens, it's hard to say which one is better. Romulus brought the horror back to the series in stunning fashion, whereas Aliens is an amazing action flick.
@@Centrifewgi I played Isolation a while back on my PS4 with headphones and there were moments where I zoned out of reality and legit felt like I was right there on Sevastapool. Can't believe how immersive (and poop your pants scary) that game would be in VR
If you give this movie any praise you don't care about the franchise whatsoever, doing anything new or unique, The movie is basically a Men in Black 2 UA-cam smash cut with new actors doing the same scenes from all previous movies, Even recreating the ending from Resurrection which was terrible, and the fact they made it an engineeresq, they're trying to push the David's storyline which is bogus, Aliens were not created by David and I think leaving them in mystery would have been better Back on topic Romulus was terrible had one good zero gravity acid scene that was cool, but the fact that it's very visible in the movie, when she fell in the elevator shaft when the gravity kicked on right after that awesome scene of zero gravity acid, she falls the alien catches her, and in movie character armor puts her back on the ladder nice and gently instead of eating her, and then the black guy don't care enough to remember his name cuz the movie sucked, delivers Ripley's bitch line with no emotion so forced I started laughing hysterically in the theater even more when the alien put her back on the ladder nice and gently 😂😂😂😂 Also you're not supposed to film facehuggers moving when the legs don't move this is the one movie that I hate the practical effects in because they were done so 50% effort other movies have done more with less money and this is a such a shame
I found this movie just a sort of collection of the best moments of the past movies. That's all. There's little action, no sense of danger about Xenomorphs and a tiny perception of the company. If I have to rank it, I would give it a solid 3 maybe even a 4. Just quoting the best parts and quotes of the past movies don't make a good new movie. I'm sorry but who made this is kinda a poor director. Very poor. To the point that Prometheus and Covenant was really on another level.

You know what? "Alien: Out of the Shadows" could have been a good movie.
