As a mom of an almost 26 yo male (living outside of Utah) who served a mission, finished college and has a great job but has not found a spouse I agree with this change. Single adult boundaries are much larger than ward boundaries and if he has a chance of finding a spouse at church it would be in a singles ward not in our family ward. The dating world is hard especially online. If you don’t fit the box online you are swiped over. He is still attending church but I feel if he was made to be in our home ward he wouldn’t go when he aged out at 30. There are several males around his age and situation in his singles ward too. It’s not like they didn’t try earlier as they dated in college and just didn’t find the girl. 😐 I met my spouse in Oregon at a singles ward and wouldn’t have met him otherwise if it wasn’t for that ward.

NOPE. To restore, it has to have existed in the first place. I married when I was 42. The years in the singles ward were brutal. I was in Irvine CA and our Sac Mtg was packed, almost with women that dressed like street walkers. The men in the ward would visit with them and you had to plow through that to get to RS, where 20 or so ugly ducklings attended RS. Went back to a family ward and was very happy serving in a normal ward.

I have retired and am called to be the "family history consultant" in my ward. I could spend 24/7 finding all of them, Looking at census records, marrige records, death records, and on and on. I spend 8 hours a day doing family history and 4 days a week an entire shift doing ordanance work for my kindred dead.

I have 2 grand children who are in the YSA ward and soon to be 3 when my next grandson gets home from his mission. I think that the kids should have a YSA opportunity to meet but they should still go to church with their families family and siblings. My one grandson who is living a home, returned from his mission and working and earning money and paying to going to flight school to become a Professional piolet, like my son, his uncle who is a pilot earning $300.00 an hour.

As far as single adults. I did meet my wife at a single adult activity, however I believe it wouldn't matter with a strong member but matters a lot on those who are attending to meet the opposite sex. In my experience many who go to the activity's would end up in a nightclub without those activity's to go too.

Sue, I agree 100% with what you said about the "all about me" society we have. And to your question tob your audience, Scott, the age change isn't continuing revelation, IMO. It's simply to keep people comfortable. The church really shouldn't be segregating members based on anything but, instead, bringing them together. Especially in these times. It seems the majority of members are asleep and content with almost everything. No different than the rest of our citizens who are going to be in a world of hurt when s--t hits the fan A.... they believe the church will take care of them and B... they're asleep as to the time in which we are living. My husband's family are wonderful, faithful members of the church but, most don't have food supply and/or survival equipment. As much as I adore and respect them all they love their stuff and their expensive trips (which is perfectly fine) but they can't eat stuff or trips! This scenario is prevalent amongst the members in this land of plenty. I love your to- the-point rants! Keep on keepin' on you two❤

My 1st husband was 18 years older., married in temple. He doed I married ome 5 years older, he died! I remarried again im 2010 to Italian Catholic, 5 years ypunger than me, he now has Parkinson's, I am his caretaker, O am now 82!!! God decided!!! Obviously HE is traino g me well as a caretaker!!

When I was 30 and I got kicked out of the single Ward because I wasn't married the reason I didn't go back to the family Ward was not because I didn't want to calling I already had a calling in the single Ward but I just couldn't face the pain that I was feeling being childless and husbandless and I actually went inactive for several years before I came back now I know that that was 30 years ago so times may have changed but the pain was what made it so hard to think about going back not my lack of willingness to serve
