I have visited many mosques. Our stake has very good relations with a mosque that lies within it’s boundaries. We were invited to a function there and was served some very wonderful food and had an interesting conversation about Red Sea resorts and scuba diving in the Red Sea. All good. We can have friendly relations with other faiths but we need to keep our sacred spaces sacred. An LDS meetinghouse is a dedicated sacred space. The Lord’s house is a house of order. Allowing non-LDS religious practices to go on in our buildings is not a house of order. I wouldn’t expect the Muslims to allow an LDS service in their mosque. Our meeting houses are the Lord’s and should be respected as such.
I agree it should be kept sacred, i went to my church building this week to grab somethings for our primary, and the boards had bad things written on them. We cleaned it up, but i dont believe these ppl vandalized the building. Im not sure if it was from someone of the Myhome town program groups. I understand the building was dedicated.. thinking of that, the thought of when i was younger and going to church dances with DJs they would play questionable music in the gym and next door was the chapel where we worship on sunday and do our ordnance. I would hear it was more the chapel that is a “No No” but its the entire building , do they re dedicate it every few months? We also have issues with homeless breaking in and messing up the building unfortunately.
@ The chapel is the most holy part of an LDS Building. It’s where the sacrament is administered. What may be appropriate in the culture hall or a classroom might not be appropriate in the chapel.
@@douglasnielson8250 so is inappropriate music ok for weddings, parties, church parties in the gym and many excuse it because oh its just our/ their culture and the times we live in so the music is fine, but someone asking to worship God in their way not being destructive, maybe their building is being built and they need a safe place to worship for the moment more ok? or in your opinion both should be a flat out No? ☺️

I wouldn’t allow anyone to come into my house and cover my pictures of Christ , and it breaks my heart that someone covered the picture of our Savior in my church 😢 In the house of the Lord.
Here is a suggested revised mission program. : 6 am scripture study | 6:30am weight training | 7am cleanup and breakfast lots of protein | 8am apprenticeship training [electrical, farm, plumbing, welding, medical, etc.], where you learn a skill and then use that skill to help poor areas in the world | 4 pm cleanup, eat and get ready to proselyte | 5 pm proselyte | 9 pm wrap up the day ... the primary benefit is the men come back with a skill where they can immediately make money to provide for a wife. This is the Lord's Army, men only for the MMGA movement [Make Mormonism Great Again!]
Fabulous discussion! Covering up a picture of Christ to appease people who don’t like him is NEVER okay for any reason at any time. Especially egregious when we seek to send out love and friendship and our facilities only to be met with demands that should never be accommodated.
Great discussion, Scott. I agree, especially with your thoughts on the urging to "Follow WHATEVER the Prophet says, without even blinking an eye....and don't you dare pray for a confirmation of the Spirit." That is LOONEY TUNES. Cult-like. Scary...actually.
I had acquaintance with a fine, religious woman named Georgia Mae Catney. She started attending a new church in San Fancisco. The pastor was very charismatic. He demanded obedience to his every word. She followed him in everything. Her paychecks went to The People's Temple. She followed him to Guyana. The pastor, Jim Jones, made her and 911 others drink the Kool Aid mixed with sedatives and a generous dose of cyanide. Blind faith at its worst. Our leaders have encouraged us to seek the verification of the spirit. Our culture has evolved to FOLLOW THE PROPHET. PERIOD! It is a bad pattern to follow. We are to exercise our agency. Even the spirit honors our agency and lets us choose. That's how we learn and grow.
There was a Muslim friend i worked with. We were talking one day and he told me Jesus Christ was nothing! My Savior is something, everything and i was highly offended. He is a kind enough person, yet he and ive seen it demonstrated that Muslims would erase all Christians if they could. Im all for sharing not erasing the Savior from our dedicated place of Chrstian worship.
We are in the category of keeping our mouths shut and not accepted. I just keep saying to myself- keep your eyes on Christ! The gospel is true. But it makes it hard to keep going to church.
my wife and I agree with you completely. Our ward buildings should not be used by other religions to perform their services in. Enough is Enough! Thank you
I asked on CWIC , what if Wicca asked to meet in our building? What are the parameters? They met in the RS room. Was this men and women or just men? See where I'm going with this?! We are on the same page Scott.
A few years ago the church asked members to try to limit how they bare their testimony on testimony sacrament meetings, I know they were concerned with people hogging all the time with long stories and I agree but there is the spontaneous testimony of the Holy Ghost and there can be great moving stories from very strong members and we are not robots!
This is very interesting because a few years ago my husband who is a bishop was asked if he could marry a couple that was very close friends with a couple in our ward and use the building for a small reception. He asked the stake president and was told no, they have to be members to use our building…
There’s a small group of homeschool moms in Utah searching for very minimal use of the building on weekdays and they are repeatedly denied. They ended up paying another Christian denomination to use theirs.
When my uncle from Afghanistan died, we held an lds. structured funeral with talks, songs, and prayers in a mortuary chapel. He died a Muslim and his Muslim family and extended family were part of the services. At the end the Muslim men were able to each shovel dirt on the casket. It was a very respectful feeling between the lds. side and muslim side of this family. I do see your point on where does it stop, but I would be happy to help most religious groups who are missing a building. Satanists and other nefarious groups excluded. I'm not woke and would be fine with Jews needing a place to worship while their synagogue was rebuilt. And yes, I doubt we would be reciprocated in a mosque. But maybe we would in a synagogue. Interesting conversation. Thankyou!
I agree with you, im not into the woke things. But i could see some of these ppl being here after the destructions and the second coming saying they were loving as He is and opened the doors to His church when we needed a place to worship God. Interesting points with where are lines drawn. Maybe they could have gone to a room with no pictures, we have some rooms that dont have pictures. I think standing for truth and what the scriptures teach. Is this a “ i was hungry and you gave me food” situation?
Isn’t the whole building dedicated? What is the phrasing of the dedication? Does allowing a different group to worship in the building go against the dedication? What if the group were a bunch of satanists? Would that or any dedicated building be open to them? After all, isn’t that also “ecumenical “?
Are you telling me 20 or so people can't find a place to pray? Why can't they use their own homes or anywhere else to pray? Why? This smacks of something that should not be happening for many reasons, but most of all the irony of them worshiping in a place where they deny the Holy One, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Savior, the only one who can save us, Let them come to worship Him in one of His houses.
I love Bro. Greg but struggle seeing the Saviors picture covered in a RS room . I feel like the church is extremely interested in being “popular “ nowadays . I had a practicing Muslim “ son “ for a year that I still love dearly But he had a tremendous hatred for Jews . He is very much a “moderate Muslim “ and feels that way .
I tried posting yesterday on your original video, but I guess you had already taken it down. Elder Bednar spoke at a youth fireside in our stake a couple of years ago, and said the same thing. He held a tablet at the pulpit, and gave the youth a phone number they could text and ask questions. He would answer them right there over the pulpit. He said several questions were coming through about whether to pray about asking if a mission was the right thing to do? He said it's a commandment from Heavenly Father. All healthy young men should serve. It's not a question whether or not they should go. Take it or leave it...I heard it myself from an apostle.
Where is the commandment? There are people who cannot serve for various reasons. They already feel bad and don't need to feel even worse. We need to pray for confirmation. No where in the scriptures are we taught to just follow. Isaiah: Come let us reason together saith the Lord.
@@reppi8742President Kimball said the same in conference in the 70’s about every worthy young man going on a mission. This is not new. Today they make every accommodation possible for the youth to serve however they are able. I find it very heartwarming and encouraging.
I work for muslims and My boss brings up my religion quite often positively, but when the war took place in Israel they all showed their true colors and do not Believe that the jews should have a claim to Jerusalem. His historical facts are in error. He believes in socialist capitalism as he laughs when he says that. I am a little skeptical of his sincerity. I think we would be surprised if we could interpret what is said in the mosque.
Why does it mater that it’s in the RS room and not the CHAPLE ? When a church building is dedicated it’s dedicated to the worship of Christ! I’ve never heard only this room but not that room. We can’t vote in our churches anymore or do anything secular actively in our buildings only church things or ward events! The gathering of Israel is always talked about but we can’t show our support for Israel at church but pander to the people whose religion is based on anti semitism is welcome?? God will bless those who bless Israel God said and he will curse those who curse Israel. Our church in the name of woke-ness is out of line in this. In my opinion.
I’ll put the same comment I had on the other video here. I would like to know what the circumstances are for the Muslim congregation to need to use the church building. I think it’s fine to help them for a temporary period. Why can’t they use the gym? Then the picture won’t be an issue? My stake center in Orange CA, allowed the neighboring Jewish congregation to use our facilities when their synagogue burned and was under extensive reconstruction. It was for several years. It was written about in the church newsroom. It was a beautiful building of friendship and community. Yes it was a few years ago, but still it was celebrated and recognized by the worldwide church. I agree about the reaction to the video about not needing to ask for confirmation. That was weird. Everyone should take every opportunity to pray and learn how to communicate with the Lord. Glad they took that video down. I get what he was saying, but sounds like he messed up the delivery.
I read a church article not long ago where an apostle spoke to a Muslim group. His message was that Latter-day Saints have much more in common with Islam than differences.
@44:10-ish... well after this part you read there's a curse that goes after those that go against Judah. There's similar wording at Joel 3:19. At Joel 3:19 it says (spiritual) Egypt and Edom will suffer desolution for violence against the children of Judah, etc. This supports what you read. (And the US is an Egypt of the last days.)
The fact they covered up the pic of Christ, show they don't worship the same god and they know it. I would feel weird going to church after knowing what we allowed them to do.
I grew up in a ward in Southern California that met in a Jewish synagogue and then we moved north a little and met in a Seventh Day Advent school’s chapel. That was in the 50s and 60s.
If freedom of religion and encouraging the practice of faithful worship of a transcendent God is considered woke, we’re at risk of swinging the pendulum too far the other way. “I never thought it was right to call up a man and try him because he erred in doctrine. It looks too much like Methodism and not like Latter-day-Saintism. Methodists have creeds which a man must believe or be kicked out of their church. I want the liberty of believing as I please. It feels so good not to be trammeled. It doesn’t prove that a man is not a good man because he errs in doctrine.” -Joseph Smith 1843
How bout they allow them to worship in the gymnasium if they are going to do that. That way they won’t need to cover the picture of the Savior who we worship.
No worries, Scott. I thot and think many of us also thot the video was pulled for the Muslim worship comments ( imo-- a trojan horse move). Thanks for coming back so quickly! ❤ Ya!!
I agree with you re Muslims worshipping in our meeting houses. I could understand if they needed housing after an emergency during a natural disaster etc. I feel the picture of Christ should not have been covered but taken off the wall and put away.
What happens when a conflict arises for use of the building such as a ward activity or a funeral? Who gets priority? Those that pay for the building or those that don't have our same beliefs? I too am very concerned about the covering of the picture of Christ. The building has been dedicated to Christ not Allah!!
I haven't seen the Pearson talk, but I could see maybe where he might be coming from with a lot of kids nowadays looking for any excuse to not serve a mission. He's probably thinking just suck it up and go
But sadly it's not the Mission President's responsiblity to babysit kids who don't want to be there. That's why so many more go home early nowadays. When I was young I rarely saw that. Now it happens all the time.
It’s hard topic for me as I saw Cwik media episode and did understand his point of view. But worship is a big deal. We wouldn’t let them worship idols. His point is that they worship the same God as us and it’s similar to when Ammon taught the lamanites. For me and just can’t shake that it feels wrong. One thought I have is “we wouldn’t let our own youth activities hold a meeting in that room and cover that photo and worship that way because it’s apostate to our beliefs” but we let others do it… just feels wrong. I am not against inviting them in for activities, shelter, bonding etc.
If you study “their” religion deeply, we have very opposing beliefs and I don’t think we should be mixing with them in our buildings. There are other places they can meet. We don’t cover up Jesus’s picture in HIS house. It’s disrespectful.
How about a compromise. Let them worship in the gym. There is lots of room for their prayer rugs and there are no pictures to cover up. I don't like the idea of covering or even removing a picture of the savior. But I can also see a benefit by building bridges and friendships.
I dont know if its a woke thing to allow them to worship. For me .. i think about the second coming, there will be many ppl who are not of our faith, who when that day comes and Jesus comes, they will say they loved like he did they opened the doors of His church when i needed a place. They didn’t destroy things and maybe we could have taken them to a different room that didnt have pictures in them so they didn’t cover the picture. We have some rooms like that in my building. But i see your point, where are lines drawn. I think we can show love but also stand for truth and what the scriptures teach. I wouldnt be one ok with the “woke” things happening. I maybe way off the mark and sometimes maybe too optimistic or think the best of some situations 😅. Also the thing about church ppl being a way with colored ppl, The little girl in bountiful who was being bullied and ended her life, i have family who was in that same school in the minority group also being bullied. I hope it wasn’t about color where both kids were colored 🤷🏽♀️ The christmas devotional surprised me when i heard President Oaks talk about how our children should not be the cause of someone feeling excluded (or bullies) im not wording it as great as he did 😅. Oh also im latina, married to a white man, his family is white and it’s weird that with some i have to almost defend white men, i have to remind them my kids are mixed and i dont want them to be ashamed of either parents/ ethnicity. I appreciate the video it had me thinking different directions.
I thinking about the Muslims in our buildings worshiping false God's or idols you might say I think it is offensive to our Savior and someone like Elijah in the old testament would think too highly of it either
Ordinarily, I would be all for allowing Muslims to use our facilities, in light of the many other denominations in the mission field who have opened their doors to their facilities. But it doesn't seem seem like a very good idea to open that can of worms. A few years back, when we had a choice as to who we would allow in, we could have done so-- it but now, oh brother! Can't you see the headlines if the some openly radical group was turned down? Mormon discrimination! Probably we would be inviting a lawsuit.
I'm frustrated by all the political correctness. We hear only one side, and ignore the terrible crimes against young women all over England and Europe. I fear that our outreach and accommodation may grow into something more insidious.
BOUNDARIES…. So necessary in our world… yet so many boundaries have been infiltrated recently… and good things aren’t happening…. Our church MUST hold to its boundaries if we are to be the Light the world needs….social justice be damned….just sayin…..
I do NOT agree!!,,Allowing other faiths to bring their idea of truth into an area ordained as a sacred place. I challenge peopl to read the (Kiran) (sorryspelling error)(their Bible) it does NOT aline with the true concepts and teaching frôm our Savior...In fact many non-believers claim Allah is another title.. belonging to the great deceiver him self.. I am appalled at the ideas of individuals who claim to be Christian..that in some wards.. no longer allow the primary to participate in the program on the Sunday before Christmas,,,.OH NO..the time alloted is only for first rate entertaiment..it takes the primary TO LONG to gather at the front of the chapel and sing a song cellebrating our Saviors birth..absolutely discusted with what is going on in the True Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day (misguided souls) Saints.. 😊

Do you know what happened to the red heifers? And how the Euphrate's River is doing? I can't find info on either
I wonder how many people decided to not go on a mission after he made them feel like s***.
What else? Every day it’s something 😢😂😅 !!!!!
We agree with you on everything on this. Thank you!
Great video but there was some very funky blue lights and squiggles on your glasses every time you looked at your screen.
I heard the the mosque was burned down.
I am thinking of the Hagia Sophia. Also, of who controls access to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.
I might go for it if they take up ALL the cleaning assignments.
That’s a good one!
How bout they allow them to worship in the gymnasium if they are going to do that. That way they won’t need to cover the picture of the Savior who we worship.
I Love that. Were so Beautiful !! N
I thought that the anti Christ was supposed to sit in the third temple.
Exodus 23:2 - rioting or inciting to riot
If you study “their” religion deeply, we have very opposing beliefs and I don’t think we should be mixing with them in our buildings. There are other places they can meet. We don’t cover up Jesus’s picture in HIS house. It’s disrespectful.
Yep. PR all the way.
How about a compromise. Let them worship in the gym. There is lots of room for their prayer rugs and there are no pictures to cover up. I don't like the idea of covering or even removing a picture of the savior. But I can also see a benefit by building bridges and friendships.
😊
I hope it wasn’t about color where both kids were colored 🤷🏽♀️
The christmas devotional surprised me when i heard President Oaks talk about how our children should not be the cause of someone feeling excluded (or bullies) im not wording it as great as he did 😅.
Muslims should not be using an LDS Church for worshipping a false god.
Why would you tell anyone NOT to PEAY about ANYTHING?
Compare our Articles of Faith to the five pillars of Islam.
The mormons and Muslims are very similar.
How, exactly?
@arey1555 they both deny christs diety
@@arey1555 they both get multiple women to be intimate with in the after life
@@arey1555 they both claim to have another inspired scripture
@@jwinfrey6298 we believe in God the Father. We also believe in Christ as the literal son of the Father and the only way TO the Father. So how do we deny him?
Also, “intimate”? Okay, yawn!!!!!!!!!
