Great Job. Just wanted to add a comment about something I do, which you already have all or most the parts for. I have a 25hp Suzuki on a wheeled stand in my garage. I wheel it out to my truck, tailgate closed, take off the cowl cover. I then lower the winch rope from my boat loader down ( both ropes at same time, I hang my boat anchor on the other line just to keep it taught and wound properly), the reason I take my cowl cover off, my engine has a lifting ring. I attach the rope hook to the engine ring and winch the motor right up to the bar, I then just pull it out a little, open my tailgate, then slowly let it down on its side onto an old baby crib mattress, handle down like the sticker on mine says. Like you I just push it in, it's the last thing I load onto the truck. Now at the Lake: I have mounted clamp on wheels on the back of my boat to protect my transducer and the boat. I lower the front of the boat into the water, attach the wheels and pull it back a bit( like to keep my feet dry!) I adjust my truck position, slide the engine mattress out onto the tailgate, attach the rope hook to the engine lifting ring, lifting it all the way up, close the tailgate again. I put the mattress on the ground behind the boat (of course tilt transom clamps are all the way open to full tilt) letting the skeg down onto the mattress, then slowly lower engine onto the transom, tighten up and push the boat on the wheels into the water. Now remove the boat wheels, lower the engine and let her sit vertical for ten minutes while I load all the gas tanks, net, rods etc. before I fire her up. You should give it a try, you have it all. When I get it home, I do the same procedure and put my motor right onto my wheeled engine stand and put it away. (always using the anchor on the other rope to keep it wound properly and taught) As a matter of fact I got rid of my trailer, all together, when I am lowering my boat off the truck I just use the clamp on wheels on the back of the boat and put a 4 wheeled moving dolly under the boat. I back it in until the ropes are just going to touch the garage door, put it on the wheels and park her in the garage, easy peasy and no lifting or straining at all. If you message me, I can show you the wheels I put on my transom. Also, my motor came with the engine lifting ring, but they are cheap and easy to find and ordered for any specific motor. It would be neat if you tryout my idea and post a video about it, have not seen one that I can find, I know a lot of guys dread the idea of wrestling with these heavy 20-30HP 4 strokes these days. Cheers Jeff

What are the maintenance costs?
So far just oil and gas. These bikes are certainly proven. Cheers!

If you use the oem head you will get 15-20 more psi compression
Thanks for the info
I really like this bike. But is so hard to get one in my country. Why like that Yamaha ?
Reliability!
What is the MSRP? I love that blue. I wish it had something like the new Tracer has with the adaptive cruise control/music function. Sorry I love my music. I still love the bike and would definitely consider it!!!!
23k cdn basically. The cruise works great. No tech supporting the blue tooth with this machine. Cheers!
Thanks for the video.. informative before I buy one..
Works awesome. Beats scrubbing the blood out of the boat every fish caught. Cheers

Great looking boat. Fishing machine. I'm currently looking for one just like yours. 👍
Dude! This boat catches allot of fish. I know it has allot to do with experience but I love the space and setup I have. Cheers. Hope ya find one in good shape like I did

Japanese reliability. The number one reason for choosing this bike.
Yup!
Ive got a pw80 which ive installed a new gen carb on it. Runs and idles great but stalls as soon as i put it in gear. Any advice? Also drips a bit of petrol from overflow
Lol. Not sure but exp tells me anything other then stock seems to leak. I have not found or heard an aftermarket that works. Hope you find one. Cheer
I have no idea when it comes to working on bikes but i gotta replace the front shock seals and the rear end just squats when i sit on it and im not a heavy guy
These bikes are built for 100lb kids hehe
@@bigair0176 haha yeah I know, but it has no suspension 😅
Where did you find the purple seat cover?
It’s how I bought it.
Where do you live that you paid $23,000.00 for that bike?!?? You got ripped off big time!!
Canada lol
I had a 2006 and 2007 model from new, abseloutely superb road bikes, fast A roads in particular
Nice. Love mine so far cheer!
this is exactly how a help video should be made ty
Glad ya liked it and was helpful. Cheers
I badly want a gen 4 fjr, next year i plan on going
I must say I am in love with it so far. Great all round bike. Cheers
Does the seat still make you slide into the tank? Rented one for 3 days and hated that. Even the custom seat place in Denver said they fix them all the time.
Gripper top isn’t that bad that I’ve noticed. Decent so far
@@bigair0176 Thanks for the reply. Sounds like they addressed that in recent years, cool. I liked it otherwise. It didn't start making power till about 4k so hold on. Enjoy.
@@mkoehler222 lol right! Will do
Truth be told....these are the finest bikes on the road! Long Live the FJR!
Right on dude. They are great bikes for sure. Cheers
I have a a PW 80 what’s the name of the rebuild kit you used?
Bought off eBay. Can’t remember if link was in description.
is it me or is that motor really loud at idle? Love the bike though and i ride a challenger...
Cold start ya. Otherwise pretty quiet
i tried one of these a different brand and battery was always dying it was not accurate on speed since you were supposed to calibrate it with another gauge eventually it died battery contacts broke wish my boat came with factory gauge package.
Worked fine for me so far. Cheers!
Did you ever switch over to a 65 main jet?
Nope kept stock
Too much talking, get down to business
Ikr. Cheers!
Once you did the boyeson reeds, big bore kit and exhaust. What jetting did you go with and also what fuel mixture are you running. Just got a pw50 for my son and looking to build it. TIA
I kept stalk jetting. The bike already stock was rich running. Been a while since I have had that bike. I believe I mixed at 50:1. Might have been as low as 40:1 but no lower. Have fun building it. My boy loved it. Ran good. Was a fun little bike when I was all done with it. Cheers!
Thankyou Well done Enjoy your beautiful bike Australia
Thank you! 👍. Cheers!
How do you get the winch to push it off the truck. I get how it comes on but how does it come off that's reverse
The way the lines are set up on the rollers. Then it’s just a matter of forward reverse with the winch
Iv had my FJR 2012 model since new it's done 2 laps of Australia and various other trips away it's done just over 165800kms with no problems it's winter here in Australia and i ride all year round iv owned many bike's over my 65 years these Yamaha FJRs have to be right up there im very old school and not interested in all the mod comforts heated grips are my only luxurys i don't believe a 6 gear is needed iv ridden concours 14 not much difference between the two maybe a bit faster and iv owned BMWs back in the 80s believe me they do have there faults and overrated and expensive cheers from Australia im really impressed with the XT1200 tenere i owned the 600 back in 86 great bulletproof bike's both Yamaha's must be good there been making them since the 80s started with the FJ 1100s right through until yours
Right on man! Thanks for sharing. Glad you have such a positive experience! Cheers
Nice ride! Thanks.
Glad you liked it! Cheers!
Helpful video, "Hulk"!! I have an 8HP Mercury I just purchased and it's 85 pounds. What type of motor stand are you using to move the outboard around at your home? Barely say it in the video and I've got to buy one soon. Thank you!
You can find them on Amazon. Mine is called Barelick model 31600
I have a 51 tooth for dirt tires and 50 tooth for the supermoto set of wheels. Happy with the change, don’t stall in the dirt or on the trails like I did with the stock 43 tooth.
Ya so much better then the stock 43. Cheers!
Great review, thanks. What a gem.
Glad you enjoyed it. Cheers
Yes handlebar risers make the biggest difference in the world... Custom seat would help you out greatly comfort seats out of Idaho USA would be good... I did have a sergeant in fact I am more than willing to sell you the top portion I don't like it to me it was too hard... I will give you a killer deal... And since you have the electronic suspension you don't need to upgrade the rear shock or the fronts. .. my bike has fallen over two separate times no damage to it either time .. because of having the bags on and sliders ..
Awesome. Glad to hear about your mods. I just ordered some risers. They are sitting on my desk awaiting installation. I also ordered a cheap 25$ back rest to try out from Amazon for the passenger back rest. Gonna try it as it seems inexpensive enough
@@bigair0176 .. may I suggest you purchase an air hawk .. that or an equivalent on Amazon.. the Air hawk is a little bit better than the other types .. but it is an inflatable seat cushion and I will say in my ride across the country it allowed me an extra hundred miles each day.. and I have hip problems but it helps ... My suspension mods are rear shock absorber is top of the line ohlins .. in the front gp suspension ... For me made an amazing difference... And then last year I put a car tire on the rear they call it going Darkside and now after 12000 me you can barely tell any miles on the tire .. a lot of controversy on doing that but I figured if I didn't like it it was only $110 ... My bikes at 88 me I feel that tire will be good until I'm at about 120000 .. ... Anyway just discovered your channel I will be watching additional
Same reason I just repowered mine.
Ya this motor has been awesome! Cheers
Unfortunately not for sale anymore in Europe for a few year now due to emission standards here. Mine from 2017 has done 113.000 km ( about 70.000 miles) and it's perfect. Once had to replace front wheel bearings and it had the gearbox recall in 2021. With the Michelin Road6GT tires it handles great while the tires also last an acceptable amount. Wish you lots of fun anf safe miles!
Thanks man! Glad to hear it was a positive experience for ya. Cheers!
Shad 45 top case on my 2018. Fits two full face helmets or lots of extras when on trips with wife. snaps off and on easily.
Ya I am prob gonna go that route. Or I will just get the Sargent seat. Lol maybe both eventually hehe
That is one beautiful motorcycle!
Thanks man. Love it so far. Cheers
I am original owner of a 2013 FJR1300 A. It’s a 5 speed and doesn’t have ES. I agree with your update list. Radiator guard is a must. Guard cost much less than replacing OEM guard. I have canyon cages for protection not sure if they are still available I added a top box for storage space. I use 2XL helmets. So it helps. You’re gonna love it Enjoy. I’ve been doing daily commutes and trips Southern PA to Tail of dragon and Tennessee most recent long ride
Hey thanks for watching and feedback. Much appreciated. Keep the shiny side up right! Cheers!
Great video M! Good to see that you got a real bike, should have gotten a Hayabusa.... then crashed it like I did... lol. I keed I keed!
Hey buddy. Hope all is well! Long time since I have seen ya. Cheers!
I have had excellent luck with Valvoline motorcycle oil. Buy at Walmart, lots cheaper.
@@baccaratpro6447 nice. Thx for the info. Cheers
I can save you more money, oil MOTUL 7100 10W-40 Amazon 4 litre jug, Oil filter HIFLOFILTRO HF 204
I use the same oil in my WR250R. Figured I would use the oil suggested by Yamaha for first oil change.
Take the lower fairing bolt out and put a piece of tinfoil over it, then take your filter off, i also changed the diff oil the same day 200 ml
Aweseome tip...thanks for watching Cheers!
Yep, you can also put foil up and under the filter prior to removing same, shape it so if any oil comes out, you can direct it to the container.
Bought a new 23 in March. Would not do a cross country ride with it. The wind and buffeting will wear on you as with the vibration at 70 mph. Its a sport bike with CC, bags, a shield and driveshaft. Good for sprints not touring.
Thanks for info. Cheers!
Don't agree on that, would easily ride 600 miles in a day. Wind shield adjustment will help if you have wind issues at speed. Or buy a higher wind shield.
Its relative. Try a multi state ride on a 5th generation Goldwing and the difference is clear. Plenty of luggage room, no vibs, no wind with a aftermarket shield...but the wings stock seat sucks. No wiggle room. Stuck in the saddle seats position. No handlebar adjustment. Not a comfortable position if over 6 feet tall. FJ triangle is better but legs get cramped...
Totally disagree I have ridden my 2010 FJR 1300 from Seattle to Orlando.. And back doing 500 plus miles each day... On the way back one of the days I did over 900 miles.. but I will say I ride with an airhawk I'm a member of a group were three other guys have the fjr .. and we all ride with air hawk . Even though I have a custom seat ... 88000 on my bike and going strong
The vibs don't bother you? Below 3k is smooth... over that is bothersome. Im on my 3rd windshield trying to find tbe best. So far the Yamaha tour shield is the winner. The CalSci is a joke. Puig is nice but not tall enough. Found out that your helmet choice has alot to do with the buffeting.
Thank you for the video and taking your time to explain everything. It was very helpful.
Glad it was helpful! Cheers!
Did your wr250r have the "engine rattle" sound., mines a 2016... Only has 8200kms.... Not sure if it's the cam tensioner... Or the wr soundtrack
@@7450gwar101 no it didn’t. Mines the same year.
I adjusted the chain slack on my wr250r today for the first time using this video as a guide. Thank you for the clear instruction.
Great to hear! Cheers!
Question please, i transport tohatsu 20hp on proper side, tiller down side, and second time oil been flooding cylinders and locking starter. Why is this happening? I mean road can be windy and different change in slope when riding my car, but its laying on proper side, by the time I come to fishing spot, theres ton of oil leaked out and motor doesn't start, so frustrating, i just bought this motor and already having issues. Any suggestions? I lay it partially on a tiller, i also tried propping up top part when laying on side so the cowl would be slightly elevated, but that also caused flooding...dont know what else to do...
@@ia6980 if the carb is down it’s more then likely on wrong side. Usually it’s indicated which side should be down.
Mine is EFI, so it doesn't have a carb. I place it to proper side
