  • First thing, Happy Holidays to everyone. I know this has been a rough year, and I hope everyone is doing well. In this video I replace a damaged Throttle Cable. I used the Yamaha OEM parts and was very happy with the results. I also show How I adjusted the carburetor at end of the video. Be sure to check out my channel for all my current and future videos on my sons PW50. Drop a like, and SUBSCRIBE. Its much appreciated.

    Awesome videos! just picked up a 1993 PW50 for my daughter and I have a oil pump block off, single throttle cable, pod style air filter and throttle housing arriving shortly. Im glad you are doing the big bore kit as I too am contemplating that for my daughters bike due to the engine being a bit old and the previous air box being broken.

      Ya I’m super excited. Just finished the boysen reed install that vid will be out soon. I’m waiting on exhaust parts. Going full fmf but they are not here. So didn’t want the top end just sitting there till I get those parts. Cheers glad you like the vids!

      Have a very niche question: having an issue with my 96 pw50 where the oil intake line (from the oil pump) connects to the side of the carburetor. I fully replaced the old carb and installed a new oil intake like hoping this would fix the issue but it hasn’t. The issue is that the little tube that feeds oil into the carb just keeps popping out and leaking whenever I ran it. I was able to make it so the tube was no longer able to pop out using some other smaller tubing (an unorthodox way that somehow worked and kept it from popping out) but then two stroke oil starting seeping through little areas in the carb itself, almost as if the bike is not accepting it and it’s back flowing out of every little crevice possible for some reason. The oil pump seems to be working fine so I’m stumped. Any ideas as to why this may be occurring and how I could fix? Thanks!

    I just picked up a 2019. It revs high when it run mode. I thought maybe I had a choke that was stuck, but then I realized the slide was not dropping all way down bc the cable is too short. Glad I watched this video bc now I’m gonna try to take that coupler apart. That’s the only place I have left to get any more cable. I did remove the lock nut on the carb adjuster, so that gave me about an 1/8 inch more. I think I need another 1/8 inch for it to be right. Hoping it’s not seated in that coupler completely.

    • @bigair0176
      @bigair0176  2 роки тому

      I would also make sure the slide is installed properly in the carb. It could be just sticking as well. Double check that!

    • @bigair0176
      @bigair0176  2 роки тому

      The previous owner could also have installed the oil injection cable which would be shorter. I think the cables were like 30$ in total from a dealership or order oem parts from partzilla.

      Could you clarify which side of the throttle cable that goes into the carburetor - which way it’s supposed to be positioned. There is a groove in the left slot(top of carb) and which way should it match up with the throttle cable insert. bottom or long groove facing towards the left side of the bike

    I highly recommend drilling a hole with the hole saw or a step drill bit on top of your stock air box if you do not have a pod filter it will really wake it up. About 1inch is fine

    after 3days of messing with the POS i finnaly realised that motion pro cable is the wrong size and the cable to the carb is to short. so people who have problems with to high idle remove the air filter and check if the throttle falls down all the way. if not then you ither have a to short cable or have routed it wrong

    How to tell if my pump is working? Can I used a gas mixture if not sure and leave the canister empty

    • @bigair0176
      @bigair0176  2 роки тому

      Start the bike and pull the line that goes from the pump to carb. When it’s running it should weep out of the line. If you leave canister empty you definitely have to mix your gas in the gas tank. I ran 40:1 mixture.

    Quick question: the tiny tube that runs from my PW50s oil pump and connects to the carb on the side was leaking and then falling out. I found a way to make it so the tube no longer falls out and stays in place, but then oil starts leaking from little crevices in the carb itself, almost like the bike isn’t accepting the two stroke oil or something. Any ideas why this may be happening?

    • @bigair0176
      @bigair0176  Рік тому +1

      Is it an aftermarket carb. If it is it could be that. Otherwise I would say give it a clean and maybe that will unblock a potential blocked passage. Oem would be much better then the aftermarket. You may have to replace it with a carb kit to help with the seals and all of that

    • @tkokes3927
      @tkokes3927 Рік тому

      @@bigair0176 the thing is I had an oem carb on it originally when the bike was sitting for a while and not running. It was all clogged so I took it apart, cleaned it thoroughly and put it back on. That’s when the issue started, but to be fair before I did that the bike wouldn’t even start. I then got a cheaper non oem carb thinking replacing the old carb would just be better and could fix the issue but it still remained. I even got a new oem tube as well and replaced the old one, still nothing.

    Why is mine running full throttle when i start it up? I didnt ajust the screw on the carb yet could that be the issue?

    • @bigair0176
      @bigair0176  3 роки тому +1

      Try backing out the idle screw first. If that doesn’t work, screw the top adjuster toward the throttle. You need to set the free play in the throttle. If the free play is good then it could be binding when you move the bars back and forth
