And I've heard great things about both Rock Hard 1977 and Slay the Spire but haven't played either! Wise Wizard Games! Hi! 👋🏻 Harmonies is definitely one you should consider buying! The art is lovely, the components are great (besides maybe the bag), and the rules are simple and intuitive enough to teach to casual gamers but it's still interesting enough for hobby gamers at the same time! It's one of my favorite new family-weight games for sure! ☺️

Right? I've been playing the new Great Western Trail game, El Paso, on Board Game Arena lately and it just makes me want to play GWT again! It's such a satisfying solo experience! 🏜️

Haha, I can totally understand that feeling, especially once you start getting into those higher player counts! I find that (at least at 2P) you can sort of plan ahead and work toward some of those higher-scoring cards! ☺️ I'm glad you've been able to give it a try, though!

Architects is fun but I definitely prefer the original and Duel more! And LOTR Duel is such a winner-you've got to give it a go! 🧙🏻‍♂️ I have yet to play Pirates of Maracaibo but I'd really like to! From what I can tell, though, once you're comfortable with Pirates of Maracaibo you're probably at least 80% ready to play Maracaibo! (One of my all-time favorites!) ⚓️ Maybe we can play together sometime-I'd be happy to teach you!

I'm sorry it's been a frustrating experience for you! This video was probably a bit too compressed of a teach... my suggestion would be to just dive into the rulebook and go step-by-step through each phase of a turn. 📖 To answer some of your questions, though: What you're trying to do is win by (ultimately) purchasing victory cards in order to have more points than your opponents by the end of the game. Actions can help you draw more cards, gain more purchasing power, buy more than one card on a turn, etc. You can buy kingdom cards, treasure cards, and victory cards. Actions (typically) only take effect once when they're played. Discarding a card means it goes into your discard pile which will be shuffled back into your deck when your deck runs out. (Trashing a card is when the card is removed from the game completely.) I hope that helps a little bit although, like I said, reading through the rulebook will definitely be the best place to start! Good luck and I hope you end up really enjoying Dominion! I think it'll be worth learning the game in the end! ☺️

Right?! It just plays SO smoothly on the app and I'm continually baffled at how well the AI opponent is designed-with the virtually infinite combinations of kingdom cards, projects, events, landmarks, etc. I have no idea how they somehow manage to analyze and determine a "best" move... and the hard AI is HARD! 😵‍💫 But that's partly what makes it so addictive, right? (I was on the app for WAY too long yesterday trying to beat the daily challenge and finally got it!) Space Base is also so much fun and you're right, the thematic background is nice on that game! 🚀 Always happy to play a game of that over on BGA if you're interested-I'm "BoardGameDave" over there as well!

I like Dune: Imperium! In fact, I've played it four times over the years (and won three of those four games)! ☺️ It's not on Board Game Arena though, otherwise I'd probably try it on there! Is it one of your favorites?

Oh man, I am so overdue for an updated Top 100 list! (It's been over a year and a half since I last did my rankings!) 😳 Thanks for sharing some of the best new games over there on BGA-believe it or not, I just read through the El Paso rulebook this morning (we had a two-hour delay) and I'm keen to get a game of that going! Wanna do a turn-based game together? 🏜️ I've been looking into River of Gold some more too and that seems like a lot of fun! And you know I've been eager to play Pirates of Maracaibo, too! I think I agree with you there, primarily because of what all the different Everdell expansions have to offer. I watched the Kickstarter trailer for Silverfrost but it still struck me as a little too similar to Everdell to really pique my interest! 🤔 I have played Wyrmspan and I would also say that it's different enough from Wingspan to be justifiably added alongside the original in a small-ish collection but I'm not sure that's the case for Farshore and Everdell! (We'll have to wait and see what Finspan has to offer next!) 🐠

Oh, they definitely can be for sure! I just appreciate that my favorite euro games tend to be more unambiguous when it comes to the rules than JOTL was for me... between the vagueness of some of the rules and all the tiny details you have to remember it just became less and less of an enjoyable experience! 😣

Well, it truly depends on what you're looking for! 😅 I honestly don't think you can go wrong with either game (especially since it looks like they're both going for around $75 right now) but I would recommend thinking about whether or not you might want to add expansions down the road! If you just want a one-off, self-contained game, then Farshore is probably right for you! If you feel like you might want to add some new mechanisms and game elements down the road, Everdell is much more expandable/customizable depending on your preferences! ☺️ I hope that's somewhat helpful!

You should be able to find it at your friendly local game store or even big-name stores like Target and Walmart (at least online)! ☺️ If you mean the promo cards specifically, I don't know if I can help you there! There are people selling theirs on BGG but that might not be very practical!

Haha, right? It’s an incredibly difficult solo mode so if it seems impossible, you’re probably playing it right! 🤣 Believe it or not, I have won twice (out of eleven plays), I think both times on Easiest… so it is doable! Keep trying! ⛪️

Thank you for sending me a copy to review-I had so much fun with Mythwind and it was a permanent fixture on my table for over a month! (I played it 17 times in a little over three weeks if that gives you an idea of how obsessed I became with the game!) 😅 But you're right about the stiff competition in 2024-there were SO many amazing games released last year but I was happy to mention such a unique and cozy game as an honorable mention at least! But some really small games like Hive Pocket or Sea Salt & Paper would probably work! There are also some good board game apps you can play with two players although I know it's not the same!

Galactic Cruise is seriously amazing, Oney! Definitely one you'll have to check out! 🚀 And Carcassonne, wow! Love that you're playing such a classic-expansions can definitely refresh even the oldest games! (See Dominion, for example!) @ I think you should seek out Cascadero. It’s been my favorite new game of the year. It seems a little hit or miss, but it’s got a lot of good stuff going on, especially when all players know what they’re doing. Also an incredibly low set up time.

My very first tip would be to download the Board Game Stats app (I made a whole video about it here: ua-cam.com/video/jdL1TmS8trg/v-deo.html) and get to logging those plays right away! ☺️ And that's so funny-Stone Age is still my wife's favorite game after years of playing a ton of different board games together! 🛖 (Then Wingspan, then Everdell, I think?) Patchwork is also a favorite of ours and I think Hannah likes Viticulture although we haven't played it in a while! 🍷 Congratulations on the upcoming wedding!
