Expressive individualism? I see this very much in Paul's letters to the Corinthians, taking note of 1 Cor. chapters 11,12, & 14. I see no one but the Holy Spirit in charge. In 1 Cor. 5, Paul talks about discipline in the congregation of the saints. Yes, elders are present, but they cannot run the show. They express concerns, maybe even chasten, but they are NOT leders, unless in example. Never do i see anyone address himself as Pastor Bottlestopper. In fact, poimen, shepherd, is used only in Eph. 4. And the elder or bishop is to be recognized by the whole assembly, not appointed by some silly board of the "pastor's" buddies. Tannerbro, you missed the entire point of Viola & Barna's writings & the safety measures these bring into the gathering. I do not agree that anyone who professes Christ as Savior should be taken in as brethren. "In essentials, unity. In non-essentials, liberty. And in all things, charity." As for evolving w/ the times, the times are & always have been dark bc of the natural man's foolishness & blindness toward the things of God, 1 Cor. 2. The basics of the early "church" work as well today as they did back then. Now, you handle eschatology as though it were not of great value. It influences everything in our doctrines & behaviors. Dispensensationalist Zionists are heretics. They stand w/ innocent blood on their hands & hearts. Nowhere is false israel described in Holy Scripture. God destroyed that Israel, nailed it & its laws on the Cross, & initiated the new age of God's Kingdom w/i us who believe in the Son. Yes, i'm saying full preterism. We haven't hurt a single soul, unlike the Dispies who care nothing for innocent people & their little ones, even if they're Christians. Anathema, anaxios to those false teachers & wolves with sheepskins. Now, if you think i'm a Viola sycophant, don't embarrass yourself. I love what he says & how he strives to keep the bride pure, but i don't think we'd click on a personal level. Then there's the issue of selling books. I don't care how hard one works to produce a worthwhile teaching or polemic, if there's any value to it, that all belongs to God. When Christ sent out the 72 disciples, He even empowered them to cast out demons. How much did He allow them to charge for their services? Zip. Freely received, freely given. As for donations/alms, what were they used for? Alms for the pastors? Alms for the new church (building, kirk)? Today's pathetic excuse for a gathering of the saints produces little to nothing good. How can it? It's like trying to lift yourself off the ground w/o an outside tool or helper. Our helper always has been & must be God through His indwelling Spirit. Or, as my dear Sister, Dotty, says, "They're afraid of the Holy Spirit!" Well? Do you trust God, Tannerbro?

I personally am a Calvinist who takes the Supra position on the Positive-Negative meaning I believe that God predestined the elect before the fall and passes over the reprobate, then decrees both to come into the world fallen leaving the reprobate to their own selfish desires thus positive - negative

I just got to the point in the video where you talk about the AI credits. Honestly, 1,000 credits isn't a whole lot if you're prepping sermons and doing seminary. If the Smart Synopsis takes 10 credits, and I do 10 searches a day, then that's only 10 days of use. That's pretty slim pickings....

I’ve been a logos customer since 1991. 33 years. I’m not going anywhere else. I just don’t understand the reason for moving to subscription. I have $1000’s of dollars worth of books and I am already confused as to exactly what package I currently have in l10 with all these legacy library packages. I don’t know why people have to make everything so complicated. I was considering buying more of Hermeneia but I am still confused on this whole subscription thing. If I don’t subscribe am I going to continue to get updates and bug fixes?

So what happens with the resources I already have if I subscribe?

Great info. I initially purchased Logos 10 Collectors and I have added all the feature sets, feature expansions, library expansions, Bible Exploration Kits, and a few Legacy Libraries. I think I will probably have alot of what is being packaged in these new libraries so my dynamic price will be relatively low.

Epistemologically, it's hard today to preach something that someone else may have been taught differently. For instance, when I preach something as a cessationist, anybody who may lean to a charismatic interpretation of a passage will take it as a personal attack. Then, in some congregations I've preached in, if I acknowledge various opinions that fit under orthodoxy, everyone gets offended even if I say where I land and why I think it because then they think the Bible isn't clear. Any wisdom on how to overcome that issue? Also, random thing I heard recently was to structure sermons in the 2 Timothy 3:16 order of teaching (doctrine/exegesis), reproof, rebuke, and training in righteousness (application). I have preached two sermons that way now, and I've found I manage to not repeat applications or have my reproofing get lost in the exegesis. I thought it was interesting 🙂

Thanks, I found this interesting and helpful. Do those who say God has 'finished' with Israel also believe that God is faithful? To me, if someone says God has 'dumped', 'disowned' or 'moved on from' Israel (the Jews), that is tantamount to saying God is a liar who breaks His covenants and promises given to them, and hence might break any covenant or promise. Of course, no Christian would say that explicitly (I hope), yet their views or theology might imply that. The faithfulness of God seems to be the key issue. So, the very character of God is at stake here. One Scripture on this issue (of many) would be God's statements in Jeremiah 31:35-37. Interestingly, this immediately follows announcement of the new covenant with Israel and Judah (vv31-34) and immediately precedes a detailed description about the unusual way in which the city of Jerusalem will be built - some of which only took place in the 20th century. I find it difficult to understand how Christians today can think everything going on in (and around) the land of Israel today is coincidence or irrelevant, when remarkable things are occurring regularly in fulfilment of God's Word - to me, proving that God's Word is inspired, true and reliable, and that He is watching over His Word to fulfil it.

I'm a bit curious as to why you feel the need to yell at your viewers as you make your points. I found the video difficult to watch because of this. After six decades, I have left the institutional church. I grew up and participated in Reformed churches for most of this time, though I have tried Baptist and AOG and Calvary Chapel and Covenant as well. I was an elder many years ago in the Christian Reformed Church. While I still believe firmly that the Reformed faith most accurately describes how God works out His plan of salvation for His people, I could no longer bear the rules which the institutional church puts in place of Christ. We are called to be unified yet we seem to work in exactly the opposite direction. My heart is saddened by all of the infighting that I see daily among those who believe in Christ as the son of God, come in the flesh to save us from our sins. If there are those who wish to meet in their homes, I think that we should rejoice that they desire to do so and support them. We should distinguish between our faith (Matt 16:16, 1 John 4:2) and our theology and practice. However we gather together, may God grant to us the eyes to see and ears to hear so that we can hear the voice of our Savior as found in Matt 10:27, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me." Pastor Tanner, I thought you might like to know of an additional bonus of the AI Summarize function. I was reading from John Lightfoot's Matthew-Mark commentary and struggled with his introduction to the students of Catharine-Hall. Using terms like "vulgar" and "severer" didn't play well with 21st century English, so I used the summarization tool for the into and got a very understandable synopsis. Hope this helps on earlier works in our libraries.

It’s not a pride contest, I’m just curious. We keep hearing that the larger our library, the more resources we have to draw from. But what is considered “large”. I have 2,501 books in my library. Is that enough, or way more than enough? I don’t know what standard to make this assessment against. Any opinions or direction would be greatly appreciated.

That's less of a tier and more of a category; the levels are tiers.

I have Logos 10 and just tried to do this. When I open the "search" bar, I only have the options of "narrow", "default," and "broad". In fact, I don't even see that icon. The only icon I have is a circle with a little over a 1/4 if it cut out and blackened. I would really like to use this "smart search" option for my Sunday School and Ladies Bible Study preparation.

Not to be a Douglas Downer, but I think for what we've spent on our resources, we should have a life-time MAX subscription gifted to us. LOL
