I’ve build this large library over years and was barely scratching the surface of the books I owned. With smart search those books are paying off. Thanks brother I enjoy your videos. Blessings
Today I decided to go with the subscription to get the best out of my library because of your videos on sharing the uniqueness of how they have integrated better things with their subscription that's coming after this month. When I first heard of what Logos was doing I felt they were going the wrong way and it would not be the same as the other videos were portraying. But I got on board after listening to you because it makes so much sense and this video confirms that we are headed in the right direction.
Yes. I also was not excited about the subscription, but to me these tools are SO valuable, they are absolutely going to be worth it. Not only that, Logos has treated me well as a company, and I only expect that to continue going forward. Thank you for the kind words and feedback! God bless!
Thanks for the video! Was excited for your take on this. This is game changing. Been using it for a week now and I haven't been this excited about the next gen Logos as I am now.
Just tried it. wow! it does feel like cheating, but it's so great this is available for answering simple questions about topics where you can actually form a study with points and citations. thanks Pastor Tanner!
Hi, Pastor Tanner. Thanks for your videos. How do I access 'smart search'? Is this part of a subscription? I've got a Logos 10 library (all feature set); software 36.1.6.
Interestingly I did the same search for ‘Contentment’ in Olive Tree and got the same results including the Greek and Hebrew words. The way Logos pulls the info together and presents it to the user is much better as Olive Tree uses pop up windows for more detailed info, the desktop version working like the mobile one. Logos relies on internet connection to use nearly all of its tools and features, OT doesn’t. So although Logos has more powerful features and resources I often use OT as I’m frequently not in a place to use the internet.
Pastor Tanner, I had a random thought/ question..... Does the search feature include books that you scanned?... I know Logos has the scan feature for physical books you may already have but not have digitally. Does the search feature include information that those books may have so that you can grab it off the shelf and get the information that way? I hope my question makes sense and thank you for the wonderful videos.
Yes, your question DOES make sense, and I believe they ARE included. I was able to get hits in BOTH the search AND the synopsis that were only in my print library.
I have Logos 10 and just tried to do this. When I open the "search" bar, I only have the options of "narrow", "default," and "broad". In fact, I don't even see that icon. The only icon I have is a circle with a little over a 1/4 if it cut out and blackened. I would really like to use this "smart search" option for my Sunday School and Ladies Bible Study preparation.
I actually found it, but not the way I thought. Apparently, I can only access "Smart Search" if I am online; it doesn't work if you are using Logos offline, like I usually do.
I am very new to the logos app. I downloaded the free version from the Apple Store to familiarize myself with it before making any upgrades. I see search, where do I find the smart search. Does the free version come with a smart search? Thank you.
I have over a hundred books and commentaries that I enjoy reading. Is there a way I can put these in Logos if I subscribe? (I don't have any kindle books).
I have the following: Logos 10 Silver, Bible Engagement Project Library Logos 10 Disciple Premium Logos 10 Counseling Feature Upgrade Logos 10 Full Feature Upgrade For some reason, I don't have the smart synopsis. I feel like I'm missing something. Wish I could discover the features you shared. Thanks for posting.
This video gave me an idea. I've been helping a pastor friend with research on Habakkuk chapter 3, so I did a smart search as follows: What is the clausal structure of Habakkuk 3:17-19? The synopsis that followed was absolutely mind-blowing. Talk about a game-changer. If you decide to run this query, let me know what you think of the results. Blessings.
Pulled from 5 books: The clausal structure of Habakkuk 3:17-19 consists of a temporal protasis in verse 17 followed by a declarative apodosis in verses 18-19 . Verse 17 contains six conditional clauses introduced by "though," describing a series of agricultural and economic disasters in ascending order of severity . These clauses are structured in two main groups: God's curse on crops (17a-d) and on domesticated animals (17e-f) . Verses 18-19 form the main clause, expressing Habakkuk's response to the potential calamities . Verse 18 begins with an Idea-Explanation structure, where Habakkuk declares his intention to exult in God and then clarifies it . Verse 19 serves as a Ground for verse 18, explaining why the prophet will rejoice . The passage concludes with a Progression, describing how God empowers Habakkuk to overcome challenges . This structure highlights the contrast between potential devastation and the prophet's unwavering faith, serving as a powerful climax to both Habakkuk's psalm and the entire book Did you get something identical or similar? I love Logos!
@@PastorTanner That is very similar to what I got, but it also gave me a chiastic structure that was great. There’s no end to this amazing time-saving tool.
Could you give us a practical example of the difference between Logos Pro and Logos Max just to understand whether the Max subscription is really worth it, expecially for what concerns research?
Once we get final pricing for the respective subscriptions, I will do a comparison video and give some buying recommendations. However, anecdotally they are stating that Max has more focus on original languages and academic research. Stay tuned. 👍
when I search I don't get a synopsis, it simply lists all library sources that contain those words with a brief snippet. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

My personal recommendation if you want to use Logos in this way is to get ‘the largest package you can afford.’ Now, if you don’t want to use Logos in this way, then you can get by very cheaply. @@PastorTanner thanks guys. Do you know if the AI takes both Spanish and English resources into consideration when answering a question? Also resources in Greek like the church fathers? Do you think 3k titles might be enough to leverage this feature?
I am not sure if alternate language titles are included. 3k is certainly enough to get good value, as long as these resources are the kinds that are able to answer the questions you are asking. It really boils down to what information is available for the AI to leverage. Google is so powerful because it has access to SO MUCH information. However, many books and things like that are unavailable to Google because of copyright. Logos Smart Search and Synopsis are so powerful because they are leveraging a ‘Google quality’ search against many ‘copyrighted’ works - ie, your books. Only those with early access can get them. If you don’t have that, no worries - they should release the subscription within the next month or two I would guess. 👍
@@PastorTanner You never bothered to mention this fact at all in the video. Why? Don't you agree that this is an important fact to make clear from the get-go? That unless someone switches over to the subscription model, they can't access this feature at all? Lastly, it is AI-driven, correct? Could one not be able to grab the same, but non-condensed, info they need for their in-depth studies via Logos' existing search functionality? They just have to expand some manual effort to dig through all the detailed info Logos search returns, nope? So this is just a nice-to-have feature, but not a make-or-break feature, right? So how much time can someone who is moderately proficient with Logos really save using "SMART" search vs. "existing" searches? Can you give a ballpark figure? Thanks!!

I mostly use mobile, and the Accordance app is no longer available on Android (coming back after they work out their online backup and web access stuff, but they've been working on that for a looooooooong time now), while the last mobile version was very bare bones. The Mac app was really fast and stuff like the "infer" tool was great, plus I prefer their image handling. But Logos makes it much easier to do much, much, much more than Accordance can do (thanks to the copious tagging), plus I can do the vast majority of it on mobile or on their web app, and the text is better formatted for long form reading. I'm still waiting for features I paid for in Accordance a couple of years ago, and I've lost some of the features I did have previously, while Logos keeps ploughing on ahead. And Logos actually communicates and responds to user queries - I've checked in on Accordance forums several times each month for the last year to see when the app will come back to Google Play, and not only do they not say, they also lock down threads where people would want to ask about it. It's just a bit of a nightmare.

@@TheJamesmc1982 Thanks for this info, James. While I've never used Accordance, I am certainly a satisfied Logos customer. The fact that you shared this information will help in people making the decision that is right for them.
I have Logos 10 now. I will never upgrade and subscribe. They are going the way of Adobe.
L10 is great
You refer to yourself as “pastor”.
You are a fast talker!
I perceive you are a intellectual Christian and you head a government church.
You are nothing like the men I read about in the kjv.
Thanks!
Thank you! I appreciate your love and support. ❤️
