Hello, my name is Joe Wassmer. I live in North West Wyoming, USA. Decided to head back up to the lake for one more try to see if the fishing would improve. Fishing was still pretty slow, but I did end up catching a few. The one at the end will be a mystery for sure. I would estimate it at 5 or so pounds, but who knows. At least Mike got into a real good one and he was able to close the deal.

Went out with Ed again and we had a great day despite the big bass staying home. It was a pretty sunny day and I think the fish were pretty shut down due to high atmospheric pressure. Reminds me of salmon fishing in Alaska. Cool cabin. We used to pick asparagus off the canal banks, so tasty. Bucketlist fish, they are cool looking. That was spooky-watching them free float.
Thanks buddy! I agree with you. I’m not sure I’m brave enough to have a boat on a river like that. Knowing my luck, the motor wouldn’t start and I would be swimming with the fish.

Definitely a great trip. I am always in awe of certain animals in the kingdom that just look like they are from old stock. Almost dinosaur like.
That’s more like a workout for bodybuilders. That cottonwood cabin was crazy.
It’s definitely a different way to try to get a fish out of the water. I must admit that my faith was wavering. I’ll have to try it again sometime and see if we can move a mountain or walk on the water. As soon as the guy told me, they built a cabin out of Cottonwood trees, I had to see it and jumped in his truck five minutes after meeting him. Good times!

Learned something, paddlefish are interesting critters! The cabin was cool and the storytelling was awesome with all the stuff around, like the asparagus (random 😂) saw mill. (Pretty innovative with the truck frames)
The asparagus was so delicious! I wish I had another day to hang out with him. He was such a hoot to be around. I got into some petrified wood as well. What a beautiful place to discover!

I just keep some construction signs in the back of my truck. The road closed ones work really good as you get to the lake, just put them at all the entrances and the crowds thin out pretty quick.
Joe, what's the current status of Upper Sunshine? When I was fishing both last spring I had a hard time catching anything on lower but was nailing Cutthroat at the dam on Upper. Never got a chance to get back in the fall to either. Thanks again for taking us along!!!
From what grandpa Mike tells me, it is about the same as lower except for the edges are a little bit goofy right now. I’m sure if you bought a plank you could get on. Things tightened up pretty good by the end of this trip. Thanks for joining me! I might head out again in a day or two. Might have to bring the snowmobile this time and search for the fish. I have had my fill of humble pie! 😂

Been a hell of a tough year for sunshine, last couple week I pushed into 65-70 foot of water and found more active fish
Serves me right for sleeping in. I think we would’ve done better a little earlier. Lower is definitely one to continually figure out for sure.
