Wow what an attendance
Fantastic numbers there today.
I'm not sure that one has made it into parkrun's official hand gestures guide yet 😂 Looks like you had a good number today. We were pretty busy too with almost 800.
You spotted it 🤣🤣 yeh we had 998 so a decent turn out. Have a great Xmas day 👊
Was in there somewhere 😅
I was about to say I didn't spot you. But with that many people it's not surprising 🤣🤣 Hope you had a good run and merry xmas. Have a good one 👌
Well done mate. Do I understand that end screen right that you put in more watts per kilo on average than all the guys in front of you? Id take that as a win personally. Good effort mate.
Unfortunately having more watts per kilo isn't great if they beat me. It means they rode a better smarter race and didn't waste energy like me 🙈 Still enjoyed it though.
Clearly I have much to learn if I ever manage to get on zwift 🤣
Zwift should add a collision mode lol 😂
🤣🤣 Could you imagine it. No one would finish the race 🤣🤣
Nice effort - enjoyed that 👍
I didn't enjoy it as much 🤣🤣 Always nice to do something different that's for sure to mix up the training. We can't do everything in zone 2 🤔
Strong performance there Stu, 24 minutes on that trail course with elevation in there too. Prefer tarmac myself😊
Yeh it was bloomin hilly. I'm with you, I prefer tarmac. I'm not much of a trail runner. It's not for me although plenty of people try and persuade me 🙈
That was good bud well done for sticking with the main group
I tried my best that's for sure. Just couldn't stick with them at the top of the climb. But considering how unfit I am I'm happy with that effort 👌
👍 nice attempt, hard work never hurts
Thank you but this hard work did hurt 🤣🤣 but agree with you it's good to give it a go 👌
Nice work. Zwift races are brutal. I did 1 and said never again, haha.
It's weirdly hard. Racing people that you have no clue who they are or what they can do. Can't even see if there working hard or taking it easy. But it's all good fun. At least you would be a few categorys above me 🤣🤣
Tough but fun!
@@TriToBeIron type 2 fun 🤣🤣
Epic. Enjoyed that Stu. Zwift racing certainly makes you ride harder. Just needed a few more shots of your suffering 😂
It's been so long since I have done a race I forgot how much it hurts 😂😂 I even forgot to turn on the fan for some air flow. I was a tad warm 🙈 No one needed to see me struggling 😅😅
Well done, glad you’ve found your mojo, the cold and dark definitely makes it hard to find! My 26 week plan for Bolton 70.3 starts Monday 😬.
Boom, Starting before Xmas 🙈 I plan to put some weight on and lose some fitness over the xmas period 🤣🤣 I'm sure you will smash the training 💪
Looks good to me, but you’re about 30secs/ 100 yards quicker than me 😅
It's not bad but it can be so much better 🤔 I'm sure you will be flying in the pool by the time Bolton comes around 👌
That looked like a tough event Stu, the swim, the weather and the hilly course (and the 1km transition between swim and run), anyone who finished (or even attempted that) was a beast. It must have been extremely hard for the competitors to complete a marathon in progessively worsening conditions. Well done for making the journey to support your club mates. I'm still at a loss to understand how anyone does an Ironman. What's a Half Ironman, maybe I could aspire to do one of them says he optimistically...
Yeh ironman wales is an epic race. You gotta be tough to take it on. Everyone smashed it that day. Motivated me to get out and train from my ironman in 2025 💪
Looking forward to watching the training over the next 6 months! 👍
Thanks, let's see how it goes. Hopefully we get there injury free 🤞
Get that mojo! and Merry Christmas!
I'm not letting the mojo go now. I'm on it 💪 Happy Xmas to you also. Have a great one 👌
Nice mate. Keep up the strength and conditioning. Strong body, stronger race. It's good to hear the mojo is in a good place.
Yep, mojo located and looking forward to getting after it 💪 Agree with you on the s and c but I still hate it 🤣🤣
Best of luck with training
Thank you. Appreciate it 👊
I’m also doing Leeds, will be first IM- looking forward too it.
Oh that's awesome. Congratulations on signing up for your first 💪 Especially as we still don't know the course 🙈🤔 How's your training going?
@ just ticking over and trying to get the consistency back. I had heard the bike course was the same as the TDF bike course in Leeds years ago. Who knows. We’ll see!!
Good luck with the training! I’m doing Leeds as well, I bet it comes around pretty quickly. I’m just started making videos 😊
Oh that's awesome. Il go and check your channel out. How's your training going? Let's hope we both make race day injury free 🤞
@ awesome, thanks! My training is going really well! 🤞🏻🤞🏻
Well done for getting out and just riding, your right we focus too much on all the other stuff
Yep sometimes we get obsessed with data. It's nice just to get out there and train for fun. Had an absolute blast 👌
It's just about ticking off the sessions and getting them done mate. That's a long build to IM Leeds! JUst got myslef a new speedmax and can't wait to take it out when the weather arrives which will be a long way yet!
Yeh just gotta keep it consistent. No need to do any super sessions at this time of year. That's awesome about the speedmax. Absolutely love riding mine. Super comfy to race on 💪
That consistency should really start to give you a good base to build on. Interesting to see how tri training compares to my run training. I feel like my running would go backwards if i tried that, and i cant afford to be going backwards 🤣
I think you would be surprised. A bit of cross training would definitely help your running. As they day why be rubbish at one sport when I can be rubbish at three 🤣🤣
Yeah cross training is a fair point. I am lusting after a zwift bike one day, just don't have the space at the moment. When I was injured I did a lot of spinning and that was my main cardio for 2 months, and when I got back to running I was getting close to my best times within a month and I'm sure the spinning was to thank for that. But doing all 3 sports? I have a lot if respect for that effort mate.
SBR Stu in "gets act together" shocker! 😅 Nice to see you in such a good place at this stage of your training mate. Wouldn't expect anything else from a proper Iron Man like yourself to be fair. Keep smashing it 💪
I know right 🤔 What's going on. No excuses and no moaning 🙈 I just don't feel my moaning self 🤣🤣 I hate this time of year with the cold, dark and rain but it's nice to start getting it together. Want to hit the spring training hard 💪
Great to see the IM build underway! S&C will be your best bang for buck to augment your swim bike run to go the distance. You’ve got a good mix of sessions but the looks of it. My Speedmax is waiting for its recall. Derby is my nearest authorised dealer but the shop is waiting for the modification kits.
Yeh slowly starting to get back in a rhythm with the ironman training. I'm so lucky to have jenna, I hate going to go to do s and c and she drags me there but I love it once I've done it. I'm lucky with my speedmax that the service place is on my way home from work. They called me to say they got the kits in this week so will have to see what happens there 🤔
Good luck with the weight goals dude! It's definitely tough, tougher than the actual training at times haha.
Thanks. Yeh, loosing weight for me is tough. But if I can drop a little it will make it easier to get up those climbs at ironman leeds 🙈
Thanks for this very insightful. I think the enjoyment of creating/vlogging comes first and whatever comes of that is a bonus and that comes across in this video. Nice to know how it works and definitely a helps.. I think we'd all like to get paid for what we love to do and not have to do our 9-5s 😂 but either way that shouldn't stop us from doing it in the first place. Nice one and well done on all your work 👏
Yeh, I'm never going to make it big on UA-cam and that was never a goal of mine. I've never had a desire to earn money on UA-cam so hopefully that comes across on my videos that I'm just doing it all for my own enjoyment. A little bit of spending money is always just a nice little bonus.
Well done. Looks like perfect conditions..listening to that interaction you overheard got me thinking. I used to do parkrun with my daughter when she was 8yo most weeks. I occasionally had tears to contend with and tried to motivate her to get round. I never shouted but I often questioned myself for pushing her too hard at such a young age. She is small aswell but loved the attention and chatting to people on them she got to 28mins before covid stopped them. In hindsight the 5k was probably too much at that age and I think it put her off running for a bit until accompanying me on a few races recently and now at 14 and we are building up with short runs to doing parkrun again together soon. Be no shouting from me tho 🫡
I have no issues with motivating children. But I definitely think there's a line that shouldn't be crossed. Other than that, a nice morning for a parkrun but definitely looking forward to summer already 🤣🤣
How often to you practice bilateral breathing or breathing on your non dominant side? I'm trying to do that more to fix any imbalances.
I bi lat breathe everytime I'm at the pool. When I'm working on easy stuff and technique stuff then I will bi lat breathe and when I increase the intensity I breather to one side. I to tend to prefer breathing to one side but I can switch it up in a race with no issues. 👌 Hope your doing well.
Hi Stu, that looked like a cracking ride, I love riding off road and I think mixing up your training between running, cycling, swimming and gym is the way to go, especially for tri. I wonder if I could keep up on my mtb, nice lunch stop too at Hatton Locks😊
I had to rewatch this video to see what it was about 🤣🤣 You would definitely keep up with me. It's great fun to have a go at off road riding. I'm still loving it, but I don't love having to always clean my bike 🙈
@@SwimBikeRunStu Next year, maybe I could join you, that ride looked so good✅ You know I like to watch videos all the way through for people I follow but it’s tough keeping up😊
Always good to have some events to look forward to Stu, Ironman 2025 in Leeds eh, lots of hills methinks, then again I imagine Bolton was too. If you’ve seen my latest video, you know what’s on my horizon for ‘25😊
Yep Leeds is going to be all about the hills 🙈 I've really gotta get myself out there training. Been pretty lazy lately. 🤔
@@SwimBikeRunStu You’ll do just fine in Leeds💪
from my perspective, not enough mud grass and mountains mate... but seriously mate look nice and relaxed but im no swimming expert.....keep up the good work.
For all those reasons that's why I like swimming 🤣🤣 It's nice and warm inside. I'm not hard enough to be a long distance trail runner 🙈
Just need some carbon plated goggles and you'll be flying mate 👍 😅
To be fair I've just bought some new goggles on a black Friday deal and I already feel faster. I can actual see out of them 🤣🤣
Stu, looking nice and relaxed during the above water recovery phase. Your underwater arm entry and pull can be improved to pull more water. If you look at early vertical forearm videos it'll show you how. The other main thing, which will be forever in swimming is streamline. Practice, practice, practice. Hold your streamline as tight as you can with a long controlled, tight body shape. Your legs flick out off streamline a lot during your kick so I'd use the pullbuoy as part of the session so you can raise your hips but concentrate on keeping your legs close together.
Some great feedback. Thank you. I've already started to look up the vertical forearm videos. Someone mentioned it to me in the pool the other week. Looks like something I really have to work on. 👌
I don’t feel qualified to comment on swimming Stu. I spent years getting endless pool coaching and improved massively. It’s a great tool for sure. I found picking a couple of key techniques to focus on between endless pool filming very productive. Of course, change one thing and 10 other things need to change🤯🤣
🤣🤣 Isn't that the truth. When you think of one thing then everything else goes to pot. 🤣🤣 Swimming is always so hard to try and improve. 🙈
Couldn't agree more Stu. We're not hear to make loads of money (well some of us aren't), and we get better as we go (hopefully). A little bit of money helps fund the journey and helps us make better videos. I'll get there eventually......
Yeh I think most is us just make youtube videos for the fun of it. I'd love to make millions but let's be realistic. I'm a middle aged overweight bloke so I don't think it's going to happen 🤣🤣
Professional athlete now
🤣🤣 I'm not sure I'm a professional anything 🤣🤣 Il be honest I'm not sure I'm even an athlete 🤔
Bass player here, who was also doing Coventry Parkrun that morning!!
Ahh no way. Just what we needed 🤣🤣 I'm still not sure why jenna thought I would need a bass player. 🙈 Did you have a good run?
Can't beat a nice chilled parkrun. Although berry face wasn't happy that you were filming her in the car lol. Tell her not to worry. We all get hot and sweaty and zone put after a run. Coventry got many parkrun?
🤣🤣 She loves it 🤣🤣 we have 2 parkruns in Coventry. But we have loads within 20 minutes of our house. Quite lucky for choice really. As you say, it's nice to have a chill one. 👌
Great vid Stu, not done Coventry parkrun yet, need to get that one on the list! Sounds like one very pushy parent! 😦The person at the end sounded like they had put in a good shift too 😄
Well let me know when you hit up coventry or the surrounding areas and il join you for a run 👊
@@SwimBikeRunStu Yeah I will let you know!👊
thanks for the insight Ive only just started doing tube and not in it for money but its nice to know the ins and outs of it.i use dii action 4 and MacBook Air m3 witch was a big investment tbh also use capcut witch is free or ddi mimo on iPhone also great are editer with copyright free music.making the vids is all about sharing my journeys and have another reason to get shoes on and out the door as I'm aging I find it more and more easier to finish work and doomscrolling's and cake lol keep it up fella I enjoy ya vids fella
Who doesnt love cake. I've been looking at macbooks but I'm pretty tight with my money and I can't bare to spend the money 🙈🤣 Even though I know it would be worth it.
had a few encounters like that parent myself and I'm sorry but I can't keep my opinion to myself and have told the parents it don't sound or look good in public and he diverted his anger at me witch is fine along as it took the heat off the kid for a few minutes then unfortunately I had to report it as it happened a few times at a certain park run poor lad,
Yeh it's not cool. It's just parkrun and it should be enjoyable for everyone. It wasn't nice to hear 🙈
I used to own a bass guitar. Wouldn't say i was much of a player though 😅 Our 'band' only ever played in my mate's mum's garage! Looked nice and warm out there for this one ☀️👍
Now we need a video of your band playing. Never to old to make it 👊 I'd love to be able to play an instrument, I have a guitar but can't play it 🙈
Lovely autumn colours on that parkrun - well done both of you 🎉 And great to have a quick view of Ian and Iona too 👍
Yeh the weather was actually decent and the sun does look good in this video. Always nice to do our local parkrun, Ian lives down the road from me so we are always bumping into each other on runs and events 👌
That dude was hacking up a lung at the end there.
Yeh dude. He was hacking it all up. The only reason I kept the clip in 🤣🤣 He must have worked hard that's for sure. I didn't see anyone past out so I assume he was OK 🤔
Well done to the pair of you doing the park run, some parents 😞
Yeh we don't do many parkruns together so that was nice. Although il admit I was only there for the breakfast 🤣🤣
Not sure if adults realise sometimes that a prepubescent child doesn’t produce anywhere near as much lactic as an adult, as they don’t have a fully developed anaerobic system required for harder sustained efforts until after puberty. I had a conversation about this topic with a parent recently who was unaware. This is why you see young children running in a cycle of wizzing off for ten seconds then walking. This is completely normal for a young prepubescent child and certainly nothing to do with the child’s lack of motivation.
That's really interesting. I didn't know that. It makes it even worse now 🙈 I don't think I have a fully developed anaerobic system either 🤣🤣
I knew you weren't at XC 🤣🤣 I'm expecting you there at the next one, missed out on the homemade brownies 🍰🍰
I am aiming for the next xc to be my next race so I've actually starting training 🔥 Did you use your headcam? Any issues?
@ I didn't want to promote the league because of all the messing around they do so just haven't filmed any of them sadly
