    I'm really sad Canon doesn't allow third-party full-frame AF lenses on their mirrorless models unless you adapt them from EF, for which many new lenses aren't built anymore and using pancakes with an adapter would completely eliminate the benefit of pancake lenses. :( Nice lens though!

      You can set the white balance and tint however you wish. All of these profiles are developed at Canons default daylight WB and that's what I use when shooting with these myself. Just as a roll of film would be daylight and look warm/cold if used in other lighting conditions. These are mean to be more similar to film and no to the typical warmed up Canon colors.

    Nice product but it doesn't make a lot of sense to lots of us. Some of us already have the powerbank holder and the NPF battery plate. So if I am to buy, I will only get the foldable mounting plate, which Smallrig isn't offering separately.

    • @thomasfransson
      @thomasfransson 3 дні тому

      If you have other options you find as nimble or if you can't see yourself using it personally - Sure. But I think of everyone buying a new camera or getting into video to extend battery life with a power bank they probably already own. And I could see this as a great backup to have in your bag if your NPF, V-Mount or regular batteries are getting low. Slap it on with your own power bank or borrow one on set. Personally I also like the sheer size of it along with a smaller power bank for those times when you really want to slim down your camera to as little as possible. It's great to have options for those and other occasions ;)

    • @thomasfransson
      @thomasfransson 5 днів тому

      Yeah pretty much, that's why they're made out of metal to help with heat dissipation. It's basically a big heat sink. There's lots of information about this on google if you want to learn more about how CFExpress cards work and that sort of stuff. It's also why some newer cameras don't always have CFExpress card slots - to prevent them from internal heat issues.

    • @gianlucagianferrari
      @gianlucagianferrari 5 днів тому

      @@thomasfransson thanks. I did hours and hours of research on Google to try to understand if the strong heat was normal or not. I didn't find much. The most interesting thing are some articles on PetaPixel where they warn about CFs that are NOT VPG certified. There is also a list of brands that have the certification and Pergear is not there, this made me very suspicious... I will do other tests with a friend's Lexar

    • @thomasfransson
      @thomasfransson 5 днів тому

      Really? I just googled "CFExpress Type A gets hot" and got about 307 000 results, most of them explaining the works of these cards and confirming the fact that they do get hot. Even when Idle or just sitting in a card reader. Even my Sony gets hot. There's a a bunch of these new cards coming out on the market and just like one could expect not all, especially manufacturers of more budget friendly options might go through all the licensing and certification, this would not mean it's a bad card. Just that they made a card and didn't care about the proper certification. Just like with third party batteries that will work just fine even if they won't have the same certification and your camera might say that It can not guarantee the functionality of a battery as it's not an OEM... the camera isn't able to verify that it's not OEM and therefore... And if you are a big content creator and you have a choice to recommend products that won't have any issues (most likely) or recommend a card, battery, lens, accessory that may work perfectly on 97% of all cameras. But you don't want the risk of getting complaints from those 3% Well then you stick with the safe bets... It's just like in camera groups where there's people that's afraid of even using third party lenses and make it very clear as often as they could how superior OEM is and how they'd never buy third party options. Sorry about the rant. All I can say is that I've used this card for 90% of everything I've shot on my Sony since I got in in early 2024 and not run into any issues or have seen anyone reporting any issues on any Sony group or UA-cam. I was worried when I got it as it got hot - did some quick reserach and discovered that these cards do get hot and I didn't think more of it.

    Hi Thomas, thank you for this video. Because of you I’d like to get one. May I please ask what the gear is that mounts between the slider and the camera (the piece of equipment with the handle) and if you used any extra hardware to mount your slider to a tripod? Thank you 🙂

    Well, here is a much smarter decision… Dump Premier pro and start using da Vinci resolve which is much much much much better than premiere. In every possible way. I just don’t understand why anybody would keep paying for Premier pro when da Vinci resolve is so much better. And then you don’t need Dehancer because the tools in resolve can do 99% of everything you need.

    • @thomasfransson
      @thomasfransson 9 днів тому

      I can't answer on everyone's behalf but I've owned DRS for a couple of years and I open it every once in a while. But I'm still nowhere near as efficient in Resolve as I am in Premiere and despite all these years, I haven't had the time to put in the time and effort it would take to become as efficient in Resolve or at least get to a point where I'm able to make a decision on which NLE that fits me and my workflow the best. The coloring in DRS is great and the only reason why I've kept it installed. Although I've only graded a few test clips and based on my current knowledge of Resolve obviously took me way longer than it would have done in Premiere and as the results weren't better (again because I don't feel at home in Resolve) I can't defend myself going over to Resolve. And I can only assume this is the reason why alot of people stick with Premiere, they either don't have the time to migrate or maybe they're happy with their current workflow and don't see a reason to switch. On another note, there's a lot of Davinci Resolve users using Dehancer.

    • @thomasfransson

      Both work fine as can be seen in the gimbal test at 10:22 so unless it's specifically for gimbal use I would look at what lens ticks the most boxes apart from that. But you could also revisit "The Picking" at 14:03 to hear my thoughts on what lens works best for what situation.

    For the FX30 I’d go with the Sony 18-105 f/4 OSS. Internal zoom on a gimbal is awesome. IBIS works well if the camera is stationary but any movement causes IBIS to overcompensate and then become un-smooth.

    • @thomasfransson
      @thomasfransson 11 днів тому

      Ah see, yeah that's the one annoying thing with Sony cameras. I rarely have the info display turned on. But if I do, I normally just pinch zoom past the "junk" to fill the screen ;) And pinch zoom out or just swipe up or down to glance setting and info. The frame guide options available is 80, 85, 90, 93 and 96% so no free form for that tiny little image patch.

    • @thomasfransson

      I've only shot with a 45mm 1.5X But given the fact that a 1.5X anamorphic lenses will have a field of view similar to a 23mm lens (if you’re shooting on a full frame camera) and that smallrig claims this matte box to clear up to 15mm wide angle lenses without any vignetting. We should be able to assume that 35mm would work without any vignetting.

So far I recorded continuously 1:42 minutes and the warm signal icon was activated but it wasn´t in red... soooo I am sure I would have got another 15 minutes at least... I will do a new test and I will use a V-Mount Battery 99Watts for the camera and I will make sure I have enough power juice to complete the test. So far I love this cooling system and I am glad I got it. Here is the short ua-cam.com/users/shortsbDtzPPsLHew

      Should be similar to the FX30 and the examples you see in the video. The a6700 uses the same sensor and therefore probably the same ibis system as the FX30 That said, no stabilization will replace a gimbal, but it will take out those micro shakes and that sort of stuff.
