Haha it's definitely a crued method. I've taken a few lenses apart with varying degrees of a speedy reassemble. So I don't feel 100% comfortable in this process. My Vivitar 70-300 is still nog her self and locks up every now and then. Important as you mention to avoid sanding and cutting if you've not removed the mount to avoid any damage or intro of dust.
I bought one of these locally for about $90 CAD. I wasn't sure about it at first because I had an old radioactive Tak. Nah this lens is very nice to use. One of my favorite 50mm f1.4 lenses.
May be a good idea next time to cover the glass with a cleaning fabric and then tape it this way it won't potentially get scratched. :) Also, not sure if I missed it but you didn't say why you cut it? there are adapters for that mount. So .. why cut it ? and which camera mount/speed booster did you adapt it for ? I am confused sorry. :$
Great idea! Thank you, I will do that on the next one! I adapt them across several mounts, but have run into some issues with speed boosters and full frame dslrs with the mirror hitting and getting stopped by the protruding parts.
I have seen ebay having these ...this lens has lots of character 😮 and that bokeh 😮 awesome unboxing 😅 when is the next review of the insta hashtags btw
It's already become a work horse around here. The way IG deals with tags these days makes it difficult to find the shots. I've been asking for pictures on mail but only received a handful. I might do a new drive this spring though.
Hi Thomas old pal! Just found your channel. Very professional and a lot of good stuff I have to watch. By pure chance (eller av en ren händelse som parentes-berättaren skulle sagt) I bought Pentax SMC 50mm f2 the other week. Cheers Joel
That's the hacks way of doing the Canon-Full-Frame-Mirror-Safe mod. You're better off not owning those if there's plans to damage them like that. Far better to dump the camera and get a Mirrorless body with an adapter tube.
Sorry, I'm not dumping my s35 cinema cameras and speed boosters. And I'm not selling this lens. I intend to use the sh×t out of it until the bitter end. Thanks to the mod.
@@thomasfransson Well, that just further proves the point, there is NO Super35 Cine camera that the Iris actuation lever or shield interferes with. It only hits the Mirror on Canon full frame DSLR's. It sure does not hit the mirrors on Canon APSc DSLR's like the 7D or 550D. So you wasted time and damaged the lens for no reason. It also does not interfere with any Focal Reducers either, such as an EF-to-M4/3 with PK-to-EF ring (because there are no PK-to-Anything Focal Reducers).
Haha what? Listen, I don't have the time or energy to spend on any argumentation around this. If you don't want or need to make these modifications to your lenses for the gear you use and how and for what you use it. Good for you. But you can't start an argument saying that everyone not in a similar position as you are wrong. That's all I'm saying. Have a great day
@@thomasfransson Buy a camera that doesn't have a mirror to hit it, you'll be wasting less money and less time. All the lenses that have had this method of mod applied are basically worthless. Some idiots even do it to the 50 f1.2,......
I love all my Pentax SMC lenses. Both with film and adapted to mirrorless.
They are so underrated
Well, not the recommended process. I just took lever out while I de-clicked / re-greased it and used a sander to reduce the plastic notch.

Very cool. I've been curious about the Takumar but decided to finish up my Pentax kit before branching out. But those Takumars sure has a lot of fans.

Yo!
Thanks!
Gillar du f2:an?
wtf thought this had like 200k views content looks so professional ❤
Thank you
Professionals don't hack lenses like this.

Looks like you found yourself a great lens! 😃
I love it!
Please cut away from yourself your scaring me 😂❤
With pliers? 😉
Too bad you had to butcher such a nice lens, but if that's the only way to make it work for you... Have fun with it!
It hurt a little, but yes, I'm super happy to be able to use it more this way.
ow that was painful to watch :(
Haha I can imagine! Thankfully it went well.
Love so much this lens 😍 i did the same think on all my pentax mount lenses, it's mutilation 😂
It really is! I will give the rest of them the same treatment
