  • These motorized camera sliders from Accsoon is a great option for content creators looking to up their b-roll and product shots. The TopRig S40 is a super compact and portable slider while the slightly longer S60 can be a more versatile option for those with bigger and more complex ideas.

    Awesome review on both of the sliders. My question is which one do you still use the most? I'm torn between the two sizes, it'll be my first slider and primarily would be for product shots in a small area/setting but I'd like the option to go bigger... tough one! 😅

      It is indeed, the S60 can do what the S40 can and more.
      The S40 gets the most use. I do a lot of product shots so I rarely need the extra length. And the smaller size makes it easier for me to just throw it in my sling bag if I'm shooting at work.
      If you’re not tight on space the S60 is more versatile. You could always set up your tripod in your studio and measure out the size to get a better idea is space is a concern. Also, depending on what tripod you use, if you go with the S60, those extra slider supports might be a good idea to keep it steady.

    So, I just got the S60, and when I run the calibration, the motor squeals and the belt vibrates for about 30 seconds…it doesn’t seem normal. Did you experience this at all?

    • @thomasfransson
      @thomasfransson  4 місяці тому

      Hi Tim.
      Did you do a calibration run?
      It seems to me there's no travel lengh data stored, the slider will find the end positions during the calibration run. If I skip the calibration run the slider will try to keep moving even when there's no more track. Hopefully this will take care of the issue.

      @@thomasfransson Yeah…it’s the first thing I did. It runs to the far left, gets to the end, and then starts squealing and the belt start vibrating. It does that for about 30 seconds or so, and then move to the other end and does the same thing.

    • @thomasfransson
      @thomasfransson  4 місяці тому

      Interesting, mine behaves the exact same during calibration, but only for 1-2 seconds at each end point when running calibration. Do you run the calibration with camera on and do you use a video head to get the camera up above the battery and control plate when doing this.
      Depending on the orientation of your camera it may bump in to the controls or battery before the slider can reach the end point.
      Also, does it run properly when you use the a and b points?

    • @TimSladeeLearning

      @@thomasfransson Interesting. I’m running the calibration with nothing on it…literally out of the box. The first couple of times the calibration took about a minute, and the A / B points worked fine. Just tried again and the calibration, along with the squealing and vibrating, continues indefinitely. So, I’m going to assume it’s a defective unit and return it for a new one. I hope it was just a fluke.
      On a separate note, I wish it would keep the A/B points in the memory after turning it off…but that’s a separate issue.
      I appreciate your help!

    • @thomasfransson
      @thomasfransson  4 місяці тому +2

      Yes, might be a faulty unit then, reach out to accsoon before you send it in, can't remember if there's a firmware update available for the S60, but if, that might fix the problem too.
      If they have a newer firmware they'll probably send it to you even if it's not yet up on their site.
      I guess it would be convenient to be able to store the A-B points if you're always using the slider the same exact setup as a fixed installation.
      Perhaps that's something that could be added to the App if there's enough people who ask for this feature. Always a great idea to reach out to the manufacturers with suggestions and ideas on how they can make the product even more attractive.
      Good luck Tim, I'm sorry about the issue, I hope you get it sorted as soon as possible.

    Amazing explanation!! Thanks. Don you think for motorcycle shots s40 is enough? Thanks much!!

    • @thomasfransson
      @thomasfransson  4 місяці тому +2

      I can definitely see the S40 being able to give you some interesting shots, from detail shots to more creative ones if you place the slider under the motorcycle and point the camera up or in whatever direction you want.

    Hi there,
    When using the slider did you notice abrupt stopping/tarting as the slider changes directions.This is the only thing that people complain about and is stopping me from purchase.
    Thank you in advance for taking the time to answer.

      I'm sure I talked about this in the video and the importance of calibration along with showing a few examples.
      The payload and speed along with ibis can make it more uneven.

    Great review and set up bud, could you let me know which PP you shoot in pls? Also regarding the product, something about the extra belt they provide doesn't sit right with me. Other sliders do not come with this, just makes me feel it won't last too long. Any thoughts on this have it in hand? its actually making me not pull the trigger, cheers

    • @thomasfransson
      @thomasfransson  24 дні тому +1

      Thank you, I'm shooting in Slog3 and F-Log.
      Regarding the belt, some come with an extra belt and some don't. Belts wear out and age. They need to be kept tight and will lose their fit over time. Depending on how the slider moves and how the belt runs on a specific model you can either cut off a piece and re-stretch (with some luck as some sliders instead of coming with a spare belt give you a few feet of excess belt instead of a new one. While on other models it's easier and better to replace the whole thing. Well, in all honesty, it's always best to replace the whole thing when needed rather than just a portion of it.
      Most sliders use a regular 2gt-6 belt.

      @@thomasfransson great thank do the info, could you please confirm if this slider is using 2gt-6 belt? I can see they are readily available on Amazon.

    Great video! Question about both sliders- at the fastest speed, how long does it take to get from end to end? Also do they have the same amount of rotation?

    • @thomasfransson
      @thomasfransson  3 місяці тому +1

      From 0.5cm/second to 5cm(1.969")/second.
      Yes, id say they rotate about the same. The length of the arch differs.

      @@thomasfransson thanks for sharing. The S40 looks awesome for it's size but slightly too small for human subjects. I'm looking for a motorized slider that I can use to film myself for talking head and b roll videos and it's difficult making up my mind between these 2. A lot of videographers mention that larger sliders are a hassle so I'm wondering what the absolute smallest usable slider would be.
      At what point do you start feeling the limitations of the S40 based on its size?

    • @thomasfransson
      @thomasfransson  3 місяці тому +2

      That's a good question. If you can get something partially in frame between the camera and your subject, the movement (parallax effect) will be more noticeable. That and the distance/vs focal length will play a role in how drastic the movement will look.
      If you’re looking for a partial orbit around a talking head setup you'll need a pretty long track ;)
      If it's just about adding a subtle motion/movement on a second angle the s40 might work just fine. Any slider however will make it more difficult to make smooth jump cuts if it's your main angle.
      My final advice is to set up a mockup of the s60 for your angle. You could use your camera and tripod and just do a cardboard cutout to get a feel for how much space it will take up. And if it's worth it.
