A Traveling Addict
United States
Приєднався 8 жов 2017
Hey! My name is Crystal and I am planning to travel through America to hike and see what our land has to offer! I'm waiting until my youngest heads to college and continuing to downsize for the day I head off. In the meantime, I am exploring my state of NC as well as surrounding states and hiking all the trails throughout the state as I possibly can. These videos will allow you to see the highlights of every trail I've hiked before you head out.
Having you follow my journey will help me not feel alone while on the road and keep me motivated to share our great land with you! I'll be searching for local secrets that aren't well known and things off the beaten path.
Along the way, I interview people I meet and get a quick story from them. Please subscribe if you enjoy views from trails, want to see a trail before attempting it, and like to hear others tell about life experiences. You'll follow me as I build out my travel van and hit the road!

Building Single Bed Behind Drivers Chair and not Across the Back in Van
Переглядів 7342 роки тому
I want to be able to walk through my 2500 NV Nissan to feel more open and larger. I build a narrow bed that fits perfectly behind the drivers chair. It is 21"x77"x19". It works for me, allowing me storage underneath it and next to the window as I like air in my face. When the maxi fan is blowing, the air will come through the window, giving a breeze across the bed. Sunday Hiking on Game Land for Geocaches at Wilderness Island Trail
Переглядів 1823 роки тому
Many game land areas don't allow hunting on Sundays (check the area before going). Game Land can be a great place to explore without crowds of people. The Wilderness Island Trail is a peninsula surrounded by Jordan Lake. I discover all kinds of things along this trail from old homesteads, chimneys, a tree that looks like a horse and geocaches along the way. If you go to the end of the trail, ex...

Geocaching on a Sunday on Game Land at Jordan Lake

Top cast iron and insulated - high quality it looks.
I wonder what towns in Northeast Arkansas you traveled through.. I didn't happen to notice a single town name in the whole video.
Hi there! I work for a social media channel and we’d love to repost and use some of your video! Would you be open to letting us repost? This is not a scam. I’d be happy to chat offline!

This was my Grandfather's property until he died. The land was taken by the feds. Enjoy !
That's awesome that it once belonged to your grandfather... not awesome that it was taken away by the feds. ..
Beautiful Thank you
I just got a 2017 NV3500 passenger van. Came across others' videos talking about using unistrut to install solar panels. I'm installing 3x 290 watts. Really helpful that your video is specific to a Nissan NV-series van. BTW, is the "Pittsboro" from you channel name any reference to Pittsboro, NC? If it is, I'm down the road from you in Sanford (Broadway, actually).
Hello, thank you so much for sharing this beautiful Raleigh nc falls lake, I lived there 13 years then moved other states I have also beautiful memories falls lake 👍💕🦅💕👍
Boring video
Where did you start on this video?
It's been a long time ago. I do remember when I went back to where I turned off to come up Pond Mountain, the opposite way took me to the Va. Creeper Trail where they drop people off with their bikes. It was a very short distance away. That's about all the details other than watching the video and picking up the clues from it.
Once in a lifetime hike, the falls are worth it. (once in a lifetime, cause I doubt I'll every try that trail again!)
Has anyone been exploring in there recently I’m thinking of seeing g what’s in there
It's caged off where you can 't go in
@@ATravelingAddictSoloyes it is but people have cut them open. There are currently 3 open shafts that you can go in that have been cut open but the most extensive one I believe is hated off unfortunately. The ones that are open seem relatively safe and are fun to go in
The Haw River is just beautiful. You can’t go wrong with any section of it.
The National Seashore
Beautiful scenery on your hikes. I want to visit all these places! Thank you for sharing your adventures.♥️
I just left there
Born and raised. When i grew up there in the 90s we would ride around on lawn mowers or dirtbikes. That was back when those that lived there was from there
Why is he using crummy OSB wood to build such a beautiful masterpiece?
I grew up here
So where are the water falls?
yea that was the big joke. I kept thinking if I just keep walking, I would get there, but it didn't see right that I continued to gain elevation. Come to find out, the 'falls' are just over the sign there, far off in the distance that you can't even see.
Thanks for sharing your adventure ❤ 😂 and your misadventure. LOL
Looks like a beautiful winter hike. I hope to get out there soon. I came across your post on AT site this morning. Miss your videos on YT but glad to see you are back out there hiking.
Wow! These are amazing! Great video, very smooth pans and edits... SUPER!! ❤
Thanks John!
Awesome ❤❤
Thanks for watching it.
❤❤❤❤ Thanks for sharing sis
This place is magnificent! , how would one get in touch with Robert ?
Research on Google and you'll find his email. That's how I found him
It's been a year since your video. How is the Anbull stove holding up? Are you still happy with it? All the best.
Oh yes. I always use it to cook. I have a solar stove but I ended up using this every time
@@ATravelingAddictSolo Solar stove? Sounds like another video :) Thank you for the reply.
Wow🎉❤
How much did you pay for the glass?
Stupid question... do they have handicap parking there?
It's just a pull in off the side of the road. Only a handful of parking spots and if they are full, you can't stop there. The answer... not officially (I don't remember seeing one), but it's all just dirt off the side of the road. type parking lot.
Great video! More please! 😊
Crystal can you give me an address for Gaddys Bridge...it's Been many yrs since I've been.
How do you get there?
Beautiful city tour. Enjoyed the city’s mural. Nice to learn about the bell collection in Angier. Thanks for the share! Have a good weekend.
Beautiful video and the music was lovely. Thank you
I enjoyed this very much 😊❤ my family brought property in the area and ive been exploring not this mine but other mined areas behind the property we bought. Thank you again, new sub 😊
Are u still going to put video out. Just subscribed
Yes. When I go full time traveling. It will be about 8 months from now.
@@ATravelingAddictSolo cool I'll stay subbed.
Terrible advice. Please don't think this will be of any use.
Just finished reading Nicholas Sparks book every breath, can't believe that KINDRED SPIRIT actually exists. I'm putting a visit to it on my bucket list.
awesome!
Hi, are all the trails in the bicycle friendly ?
no.. there are steps on some trails and I don't know if bikes are allowed on them. I don't remember seeing any.
Thanks
Excellent. Thanks.
Thank you for the wonderful content! You absolutely living my dream.
I hiked a portion of this trail the other day starting at the little gravel access on 64 next to the bridge and hiked south towards the Robeson Creek launch area (on the other side of the river). I ended up coming to another trial with white blazes painted on the trees which I think may have been a Jordan Lake trail. Is this the same trail? Or did you hike at the trailhead off 501?
Did you come to a huge ditch you had to cross? I've done all of them except the one that goes from 64 on the Pittsboro side heading south. That's where I fell down the steep rock about 2 miles down that trail and had to walk out of there injured then later on crutches. Be careful on that rock in winter. The leaves give a false sense that you've reached the bottom but you haven't. I intend to conquer that trail early spring
@@ATravelingAddictSolo Yes, I think I know exactly where you mean! I am glad you plan to conquer it again! I bet it is beautiful along the river in the spring. I have also learned the hard way that hiking over fall leaves can be very dangerous. They are slippery and also hide obstacles like roots and rocks, and of course copperheads, on the ground, and as you said, give a false impression of where the ground is. I hope you post a video, "Revenge of A Traveling Addict- Conquering the Lower Haw River Trail."
Nice video! Thanks for showing off Jordan Game Lands.
Love the video
Thank you
What trail is the Russell mine on?
It's not a trail. Just off trail hiking to it.
3:55 😂 blooper!
I can’t believe it’s been a year since your last traveling/hiking video. I hope you are doing better by now and are still getting out there, whether you post or not. I still look to your channel for hiking ideas.
I am doing better. I just decided to wait until I leave full time to video then I'll be hiking all over America
@@ATravelingAddictSolo That will be very exciting!
I'm here from your AllTrails review. I found the Dismal Swamp on Google maps and was so incredibly curious what this giant green rectangle is! Thanks for solving that mystery for me! I was hoping to see and hear more about your experience on the trail, like how far it is to get to these places, and especially what the feeling is like - it looks like a really eerie, foreboding place! The bubbling was super strange, looked like coffee belching out of the swamp! Thanks so much for this video! You've acquired a fellow NC explorer :)
I went back this summer.. never do that in the summer! My dog and I walked 4 miles and turned around and were attacked by yellow flies in the swarms all the way back. It's now Dec and I still have the scars from each bite on my arms and legs. The deet must taste like honey to them. It was brutal!
This was one of my earlier flashback videos so I didn't have much equipment back then. I stopped making videos when I got injured but I'm back to hiking again and about ready to start full time hiking around America so I'll start the channel back. Hope you hang around till I get back into it.
