  • Shaking things up a little today. Instead of hiking, I went with my friend down Roberson Creek in NC. The wildlife was out in all its glory just before dark. I went with the hopes of finally getting to see an eagle and sure enough, I did get to see one! The eagle sat and kept his eye on us but was never spooked to fly away.
At the beginning of the video, we were trying to get the kayaks down a very steep rocky area due to the water being so low at the time of our trip and we both lost the grip on the kayak and it shot off the rocks into the creek. My reaction was to jump in and swim after it, but realized we had another kayak so we held extra tight on hers and she was able to scurry down to the edge and get in and go after the kayak! Great save THEN we were on our way!
Roberson Creek is 11+ miles and is the 3rd order tributary to the Haw River in Chatham County, NC.
You can find a Roberson Creek canoe access and a Roberson Creek Boat access. We plan to kayak from one to the other here soon.

Beautiful, Crystal! The scenery, the music and the bald eagle! They're back in upstate NY too, along the Hudson River! Thanks for sharing.

Yes! It made my day. The only thing that could have made it better was if I was daring enough to take out my long lens in the kayak!

Great shots of the birds. You can see bald eagles regularly traveling up and down the Haw between Jordan Lake and Saxapahaw. Beautiful birds!

It's the first time I've seen them and was able to get a photo of them. I'm thinking of buying a kayak so I can get better shots!

The eagle was the highlight for me. I want to go back and do some more birding photos and go farther down the creek! Thanks for watching.

I love my kayak but often photography and videography can be a bit difficult. Winds and currents are not your friend. So I just kayak for the joy of kayaking. I have some videos taken while kayaking. When you have to choose between getting a good shot or keeping your paddles, keeping paddles win every time. Plus the wind can turn you completely around in seconds. 😃. Beautiful place. Eagles make it all worth it!

yes.. that was my experience. It isn't easy to document anything in a kayak! As soon as I stuck the paddle under my neck and used my hands to take a photo, I seem to blow the opposite way before I could focus and snap the photo! I was learning to hold the video stick between my knees when I could while paddling.. not to mention my friend was getting annoyed at the time I was wasting not paddling! So, I think you are right... that's one adventure that basically is going to have to stay my own! LOL

Cool to see the eagle. We have a lot out here again. I think they were re-introduced from Canadiin-stock.

We have them along this creek and river that runs near this creek but I never see them because I'm always in the woods. I love the viewpoint from the water. I'm this close to buying my own kayak!

@@ATravelingAddictSolo Way cool! See a lot more from the water. Try out a lot of craft before you buy one, find the best one for you. I prefer canoes, but what ever floats your goat. Do you have a trailer hitch for your van? The GF prefers paddleboards.

@@olivei2484 So you're saying these are Canadian Eagles?

No. I don't want to pull anything with the van. What are your thoughts on the fold up ones. Been watching reviews on those. Fit inside the van

@@ATravelingAddictSolo No Idea. Might find a yt channel and see what they think. Might have to modify the roof structure of van to haul a kayak or what not (because of the solar panels and stuff).Prob easier to not travel with one and rent when you get a place you want to flaot.

I'm thinking of those fold up kayaks that I can put in the van to take with me. Researching them.
