The History of the "Embracing Peace" Statue

The story behind the 26 foot tall "Embracing Peace" Statue that is in Graham, NC. Even though Greta did not have the chance to give/reject permission for the kiss, she stated that it was more about the excitement of the war being over and tipsy George was ecstatic that he didn't have to go back to war. Greta and George met in their late years, with Rita beside George's side. Rita is actually in the original photo just over George's shoulder laughing and smiling as they are celebrating the end of WWII. In today's time, this would be seen as assault.
