I think the mindset is indeed important, not to see the backlog as something that must be done, but as big pile of presents ready to be opened and enjoy does help :D
@@galiane7365 For sure. I think if we consider it a to-do list it most likely kills the hobby that we love so dearly
Thank you Vash for sharing your point of view on that 😊
@@ToTenPawel No problem. Feel free to share what things you learned along the way. 😊
Important problem, so many games to play. 2 hours test time wouldnt work for me to be honest, such time might be good to do the settings, not check the game ;-)
@@Alamar3 Why does it take you 2 hours to set the settings for a game? Besides subtitles and making sure I have Ultrawide support I don't even bother to check anything else.
@@tale_play I mean things like setting controls to optimal and graphics settings or in strategic games planning new game and settings, it varies from what you play from game to game how much it takes and what is your style of playing, i for example in rpg/stealth often trying to find everything on map ;) Anyway 2 hours it not much in my opinion but with simpler games it may works.
@@Alamar3 Well, it does depened by genre for sure. A character creation can take me from 20 min up to 1 hour if it's well done. But excluding that aspect, most games might give you a fairly good feel in the first 2-3 hours. I personally don't spend time with optimal graphics or changing settings because I can just play the game right from the get go as it is. I sometimes try to see if I can run higher much later in the game as I get more comfortable with the game. I am also a completionist, so I tend to spend a lot of time in an area, but a good introduction and getting a feel how the game is like is enough for me to determine that is enough in 2 hours. This is to prevent spending on a game you'll not like soon. Now if you're certain a game will stick with you, there's no point taking into the account that tip. Just playing the game is enough to decide.
Thank you because I didn't know everything you talked about.
@@Rezonono Happy to cover this 😁
I remember the days when demos were available on magazine CDs. :)
A little late but thanks for the presentation.
Have you heard of survivor mercs? it's a good one too
@@tomatopotato...coffee I haven't. I'll check it out.
Playing at least 2 hours sounds promising! I'm not sure if I'll personally like it in practice (not enough storage to juggle so many installations, I'm a sucker for achievement stats like MetalHead8489, etc), but it's certainly worth trying!
@@tacolandlord2990 I think it's a case by case situation and what matters for you most. Not every method works for everybody, but in the general sense most people don't care or hunt achievements or worry about metrics and rather want to trim down their backlog and know for sure they like or not the games.
If you are playing games and having fun, I don't think there's any way it can be considered wrong
@@capnPalhares 100%
I dont usually follow the 2 hour trial tip because i dont want to lower my Avg Game Completion Rate by unlocking some achievements and abandoning the game later. For picking games taking part in PoP helps keeping you busy if of course you dont have random games in your lists but only games you really want to play.
I guess in some cases, yes. It's okay not to play like that. But I think completionists are a low percentage. Most people just play or not the games. PS: I focus on the same thing.
I'm not to fussed on how much backlog I've got as the past few years I've kept it at a steady 50/50 done, however I do worry about the gift side of the backlog. You get gifted 1 game then a few more, then you just end up paralyzed in what to play. Especially with how long the games are too making it harder to stick to one game. I never could've imagined playing a game with sequels and only doing 1 part, but now I've realised its best for my backlog if I don't force a whole series in otherwise I will hit that breaking point and I won't touch anything for weeks and definitely not the series for the next few years Kinda like your mystery jar idea I was putting games into a list then using a random number generator to pick. Gets rid of the choice so I'm not automatically avoiding certain games or picking the shortest games possible
If you want I can speak about the choice paralysis and how to get over it.
I do not regret my money spent on the backlog. Those games are just waiting for their time. I must have to be in the mood for them. I feel FOMO very often when the sale price was very low and I regretted those $1-2. And when it came time for me to play it, this game cost more expensive because the regional prices went up.
I don't struggle with FOMO. If you want I could talk about it in a future video how I deal with it.
@@tale_play Maybe it will be useful to someone. But I don't suffer from it. Just "carpe diem" :). This is not the most important thing in my life to somehow worry about backlog or how to playing games from scientific or specific points of view)
the best way that works for me is playorpay challenge
Great video! I like backlog videos, because they're pretty relatable. I have a bunch of games in my backlog that are Steamgifts wins. I'm not necessarily extremely enthusiastic about them, but I want to play them to "appreciate" the gift. But I'm not a big fan of the clickbait-y title.
@@excelelmira Glad the video helped. Initially I was thinking that if I have the thumbnail and the title the same it would be too similar. So I changed. You think it's clickbaity?
@tale_play yeah, I'd say that " ... until I discovered this hack!" is a clickbaity thing to put in UA-cam video titles. But it might be just me ...
Well, believe it or not, the games I put in backlog have the same priority, I wanna play them all (it's ot necessary to have something "new", what if it just touch the right spot :P?). We'll see (or not) how many of them I'll succed to play; thanks to the "quality" of recent games, it's a big chance to smaller the backlog in future.
@@Addriano I feel you about the quality. Most newer ones barely get to be wishlisted. I'll probably stumble upon them in bundles and get them there.
I think you nailed it in the "Secret Tip to Success: The Buy-Play Rule" section, as my friends who have a backlog problem are having issues with "MOFO" and "I need to take advantage of the sale!". Trying to change that mentality is key to reduce the exponential increase of the backlog.
Nice tips
Glad you liked it 😃
What I like about it is that I can ignore this is from the Star Wars universe and it still works. RIP Star Wars
It does. It's an ideal stand-alone if you just wanna play some form of hybrid metrovenian with souls-like elements and ligh sabers. I liked the game a lot more than I though. It got me curious about the franchise more and I'd love to explore more SW games in the future.
Thanks to you, I was able to enjoy old memories. Time is truly like an arrow. 😊
@@Feelside I often times think about these games. I miss them. I'm glad this video helped you bring back some great memories.

Oh yeah. I wasn't aware of that eirther. Some game devs out there are incredibly talented and hard working.
Great and inspiring video. Thanx dude.
@@wessaurttv Thanks for watching 😁
I completed it to 100% last year. It was a lot of fun with a great story, enjoyable gameplay, and it wrapped up before it overstayed its welcome.
Totally. I hope to see the issues I had with the game fixed or tweaked in the sequel.
I've never watched any of SW movies, series ..etc Just played Battlefront 2 (2017), this game and its sequel, Squadrons and currently SW Galaxy of Heroes and only for its 9 achievements for EA App.
I am fairly unknowledgeable when it comes to SW lore. You really don't need to know more than the basic most non-fans might know. I got absorbed in the story easily even if that's the case.
Launch experience was horrible when it comes to performance.
It's in a different place right now. It's good. Play it. 😊
We played "Airborne Kingdom". It was is a 2022 game most of the graphics seems to be based on that game. Are you pretending to be goldfish now that you can't even remember games that is a few hours old anymore?
I'm sorry, but I don't think I understand what you mean. Can you reframe it?
I would like to play Neva. The rest of the games, maybe I'll choose something else someday, but I'm not sure.
@@notingem5511 That's alright. This is why I like to move into areas that are different as genres and explore the indie scenes and the AA.

Roboquest is not a bullet heaven
I found it categorised as one as dodging missiles and bullet sets is as that category. Also, I don't cover just bullet heaven, but bullet hell in this video.
Nice video. I always liked classic adventure games, one of my favorites was Beneath The Steel Sky. But it also nice to hear about newer ones.
@@Alamar3 That's all about this channel. Presenting you with all types of games to maybe find your next favourite game to pick up and play.
Hey. Just watched your vid and I want to thank you. I was addicted to league of legends and counter strike. I recently I got hooked from pubg too. My problem are multiplayer. I love singleplayer. I played them recently for the first time and I always had the best experience ever, but I still came back to lol or cs next day. Today, in uninstalled league of legends, and pubg. Counter strike already uninstalled. I bought Hades. And guess what? It’s like LoL but more fun. And it’s less addictive. I like the fact I can stop whenever I want and I can jump back in whenever I want too. I don’t need to grind my soul off. Thanks for opening my eyes and have a beautiful day
@@maudymoss Your message made my evening. Thank you for taking the time watching it. I am glad to hear you're taking a different approach to gaming. I hope you enjoy your time with single players as I do. Keep me updated what's your next game after Hades.
@@tale_play hey. You want keep updated? You get updated. So yesterday my day was very very bad and ich reinstall league of legends :/. After three rounds of just having 0 fun I uninstall again. Maybe I should delete my account but it’s worth like 2500$ (I invested 1k unfortunately) it’s so hard really. But I finally beat the first boss in hades and guess what. It felt amazing really. I never expected that. But I really have struggles with league Btw I can’t join your discord the link is not working.
@maudymoss I have invested a lot of money in League as well. I don't intend to delete my account for the same reason. Having to kill old habits sometimes is difficult, so don't beat yourself down if you have moments when you want to go back to your comfort food. Single players usually offer a large pallet of genres and play styles. If you can switch it up and experience different things you'll gonna find yourself easier to drift into different genres. Why I'm saying this is because Hades is rather an intensive game and will stress you out. Despite it's amazing story and art direction, I would suggest mixing with something that is more narrative or layed back so that League doesn't become that layed back game that you always go back. That being said, don't feel bad for still playing League or any game. Just take more time off of it and replace it with new experiences. In time it will be more easier. I'll update my link. Thanks for letting me know and wanting to join.
@@maudymoss Update: it should work now. 👍🏻
@@tale_play unfortunately it’s not working. Maybe you can add me ( if it’s okay) and invite me. My name is m4udy (maudymoss)
I really REALLY want to play Animal Well, specially knowing Dunkey had his hands on it!
It's a fairly short game. So, not too bad.
Thanks you so much
@@SugarGlider-j6o You're welcome 🤗

Happy to help! 😁
I was interested and liked the game Life is Strange: Double Exposure from your review.
@@vas2k469 Did you play the rest? I recommend you do first before picking up this.
I never really got what's the appeal of Life is Strange - it's a game commonly mentioned in game communities, but it was never clear to me why. I have one of them (I think True Colors) and gotta give it a go sometime soon
@@capnPalhares You can jump into Life Is Strange: True Colors without having played any of the other Life Is Strange games without issue. The game has its own story, separate from previous Life Is Strange games, along with brand new characters like Alex, Ryan, Charlotte, Ethan, and more.
Neva!!! Can't wait to play that one! from the list, another title that looks tempting would be Dungeons of Hinterberg, but not enough tempting XD
@@Addriano Had a chance to get it and I missed it
Great vid as always! I'm most interested in Thank Goodness You're Here and Dungeons of Hinterberg. I can't get enough of the vibrant and cozy art style, instantly wishlisted :D
@@tacolandlord2990 Try The Good time Garden, but expect some weird stuff from them. It's free.
i'm more interested in the first 3 games and Dungeons of Hinterberg. the other ones are not so appealing to me
Give the free game a shot. It's ~20 min long too from the same Devs from Thank Goodness you're here. But expect some weird stuff.
All this games are so different in almost everything, so I think we need a better definition for what is an "adventure" game. We are encompassing everything here :P Neva looks awesome, you should play it and review it on the next video!
@@ElColo14 I agree. I wanted a little more diversified genre to be displayed to not get stale. What would you classify as an adventure game?
Another great video. Really looking forward to Neva and Animal Well!
Same here. In fact, all the games listed to be fair. I would never recommend something I wouldn't play myself.
Personally, I would still want a rebirth of Legion Gold, Three Kingdoms: Fate of the Dragon, and Red Alert 2. I didn't understand much about the first two games, but I'd like to revive fond memories and complete them.
It's good that at least EA pushed Red Alert to newer platforms. I'd love Three Kingdoms to come to all platforms and Fire Emblems. I never heard of Legion Gold. I guess that passed by when I was a kid. I'll check it out. I see it's at least on Steam, so that's fine.
LiS is really good!
Did you play this new release?
I feel the same way. Greenlight should come back. For developers, it’s almost impossible to get games noticed, even if they’re good. There are so many games being uploaded right now that a lot of quality indie studios get buried in the lists, and people don’t end up discovering their titles. We were approved through the old Greenlight, and it was amazing to get the notification that we’d been accepted. We had built a strong community. But now, when we release a game with similar characteristics, we don’t reach the right audience. Instead, we get "gamers" who usually don’t play our genre and leave negative reviews just because the game doesn’t match the style of games they play. With Greenlight, you’d get quality discussions about what worked and what didn’t, and you’d attract people who actually enjoyed your genre. Today, anyone can grab Unity or Unreal assets and make a game to upload in the hopes of making some money. So, you end up with games that took 2 to 4 years to develop alongside games made in a few months with just assets-all in the same pool to choose from. This already happened with Google Play. If Steam keeps going in this direction, they might make a lot of money, but as a consequence, many indie studios will shut down, and we probably won’t see high-quality titles for a long time.
@@churi24 You peeked my interest. What is the name of the games you made? I'd like to check them out, if that's okay. I was not on Steam during Greenlight. I was not aware about it until recently and then I did a bit of a study on it. Sometimes the service got abused, but we can all do better as a community. I agree that I'd this would help indie Devs more I'm all for it.
@@tale_play Project Nightmares Case 36 was in Steam Greenlight. Now Project Legion, is in early access. I understand the negative reviews we're receiving, but the current game is in early access, and I think that half of these negative reviews come from people who don’t typically play this type of game or don’t really know what early access means. Recently, I presented the game at an expo in Argentina, and it actually went really well. People couldn’t believe the game was made in Unity built-in or that it could run on a more than 12-year-old i7 3770.
@@churi24 Had a look at both games. So, Project Legion seems to be like a sequel to Nightmares Case 36. The game looks great! I do get that it might be something of niche thing that's honestly good. It's okay to branch out as an indie to find your audience and grow. I think that expectations for EA are in a weird space right now. Some games that come in EA are well polished, while others aren't. It's the expectation of people. And to be fair, if I was a horror fan I would be interested in this game to give it a shot. If you developed this by yourself or with a small team, as someone who appreciates game development and values the work you guys put I just wanna say keep up the good work. Let any negative comments build you and your game up and don't take anything personally.
@@tale_play Thanks for taking the time to check them out! Yes, I'm the programmer, and my friend handles the art. We're doing it all on our own. We have a lot of plans for the multiplayer mode. And yes, I get what you're saying about negative comments. Sometimes people express themselves in ways that make it hard not to react, especially when they’re being biased or spreading misinformation in reviews. I had an experience with a streamer on a Steam comment. Most people just don’t realize the countless hours it takes to make games with this level of detail, and that they still work well on older hardware. But like you said, it’s important not to take it personally. Time will tell if we did our job well. You're absolutely right about Early Access too. Things are a bit weird because people nowadays tend to think that if you don’t meet their specific expectations, you’re a failure. But just as you might not meet one person’s expectations, you meet someone else’s.
@@churi24 Hey, both of you did a great job in making the game. All I can say, best of luck on the full release. I hope you continue to do what you love and never stop doing what you are best at. I know that often times visuals sells a game, but what really makes a game, a game is what you and other programmers work on, so you have my full respect for that.
I saw all three Deadpool movies in the cinema. I didn't know there was a game like that.
@@user-sh80O5br3q Well now you have the possibility to possibly play it in the future. I just hope Microsoft pushes the republication.
wait a decade for Nintendo games to come out on Steam... I want Mario (without emulators)
It it means we have to wait this long, why not. I'd wait if I know one day I'll get to play some Nintendo games.
Great video! I was thinking about playing the Deadpool game
@@patricio8091 Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 it comes back, unless you physically buy it.
I clicked off the video because it's yet another video where people just list 10 games, but in no particular order of preference. The entire reason I am watching a video like this is to get someone's opinion on what survival crafting games are their favorites and which ones they prefer. Have the stones to put them in order of which ones you prefer the most. If I just wanted to see someone list 10 games with no order of preference, then I would just google "Survival crafting games" and read a list of them.
I appreciate the feedback. The reason why I have not made it as my top 10 is because I have not played most of the games listed. This is based on my research and trying to go over what the reviews say about the games, not my personal selection. If you want my personal take on them they would be games from much older times that I played. I normally write disclaimers if I haven't touched the games and just reporting in for people to further go and do their research.
