I was wondering why did the Yankees burn the church
This was fantastic Doug! I love LA! Thank you for posting this video! 😊
You should go to San Jose and see the average sirens Toto
Hey-y-y! First & foremost, L-O-V-E your siren tours. This one in particular. I live in Boyle Heights. You started on Evergreen & Blanchard. I live 2 blocks west of that corner. Question: do you live in Los Angeles? There are sirens that are eye level of which we have 2. It would absolutely be great to meet up with you and show you where they are located. One is a block west of the first siren that you show on here and another 6 blocks south of where you start. The 2nd one is super interesting. I have lived here for many years and I used to hear them while attending Evergreen Elementary School. Let me know if this is possible. Have a blessed day...
I feel like the metal plates are use for balancing the siren and stabilize the siren from falling
A Model 7 with a top hat that's some new ones 😂 Also Sentry Siren Inc, Also made other Sentrys that can be found inother states Federal Signal Corporation doesn't make these bird house sirens anymore but the Model 2 is the only one still in production to this day H.O.R also made rotational ones by the way if you don't know there is one in Hamilton Ohio that is a H.O.R Sirex and it's designated name is No.15
nice video! i enjoy watching these a lot!
If you ever go Google earth siren searching, be aware that it may be hard
That white model 5/7 is refurbished, the whole series was discontinued a long time ago
Hello Random Siren Enthusiast Here! The Greenish Yellow Color Sirens Are Usually Faded Civil Defense Yellow. Civil Defense Yellow Is Like The Color You Saw On The Thunderbolt At The Beginning Of The Video. Hope This Helps!
Fun fact the federal model series are regularly painted yellow
Always make me happy when he uploads 😁😁😁😁
There are videos of Amityville's HOR Siro-drone, I have one and so does Sirens of Long Island
I do try to call out those who have tread the Long Island siren landscape before me. I did see your Siro Drone video, unlike mine, it has it working which I love. Can I add the link in my description?
@@DayTrippingAdventurer sure you can put the link in the description! Also, is there a way I can contact you while you're still here? I can get a request set off of a siren if you'd like, It's a unique siren too.
@@DayTrippingAdventurer can you do a video about listening to a federal signal 2T22
the second siren is not a model 2, it is unknown
The Model 2 by Federal Signal is smaller than the models 5, 7, and 7T(dual tone version of the model 7) but it has a very wicked windup when it goes off.. There is or was one near where I used to live, located on the corner of Scranton and Union Avenues in Lynbrook. Currently, I live in Tamarac, Florida but I still make regular visits to Long Island. Note also that many fire departments, including Lynbrook, East Rockaway, Oceanside, Hewlett, and Woodmere removed their diaphone hornes, which were louder than the sirens at full run. Hewlett and East Rockaway replaced their mechanical sirens with electronic versions, most likely from Federal Signal.
That h.o.r siro drone
Thunderbolt 1003
No

@WasteManDrew that’s not what I’m talking about
@WasteManDrewthat not what I’m talking about. This comment was timed and when it showed up it wasn’t a Thunderbolt
@WasteManDrewno shit, I’m not talking about the one in the thumbnail
Happy to see you doing more of these walks:) It is interesting to learn about the sirens at other places.
Thunderbolt 1003s have the ability of sounding in High Low or Pulse signals, Pulse isnt really ever used (would/used to be used for Nuclear Fallout i think ?) however High Low is usually used for fire calls, Basically the two small boxes on either side of the horn contain solenoids, usually controlled with an RCM3 Controller, that alternates the solenoids to produce a High Low tones. Hope this explains a little ? although im not greatest to explain things sometimes 😅 But as stated, yes they go off every noon apart from sunday :) PS - Awesome video as always :)
Copiague both sound at noon every day except for Sunday to my knowledge.
I love your content. I l9ve Los Angeles!❤
Los angeles?
Great work!
4:22 That’s an ostrich, referencing the Cawston Ostrich farm that used to be in South Pasadena. The ostrich and turtle were probably on the South Pasadena city float in the Rose Parade because it’s built under that long bridge every year
This was so lame not one serien was heard
@@guskund3971 Most of the LA sirens no longer work.
The parrots here on long Island was apparently from an accident involving a truck carrying pets to a store in the vicinity of Lindenhurst, copaigue .Montauk hwy. And have spread out and have grown quickly .I've even seen them in the bay shore area.
The model 5/7/3s where discontinued
Nice Video!
Nice :)😅😊😮
that second one is funny, it is screwed onto an sth 10 intake that has the pole shoved up its ass🤣
Great walk with a great variety of sirens, nice ! I really like that bright red Thunderbolt 1003, it looks really good like that
this was uploaded one day after france's siren test, sadly the siren i wanted to film did not sound off because the city hall which controls the siren completely forgot to enable it, what a weird failure.
Nice video! Would love to see siren walks in different countries like Hungary (where I live) or Germany, because the ones out here are much different.
I would love to do such walks, just need to figure out how to get across the pond, but I'd also watch others do them as well.
Hungary gang
The way those Thunderbolt 1003s work is pretty interesting. Those 2 little boxes up behind the horn are the solenoid boxes. The chopper inside the oval portion is what's called a "dual tone" chopper. It creates a high tone, and a low tone. Those solenoids push a little door over the opening that lets the sound into the horn. When the high tone is open, the low tone is closed. It alternates that to create the "Hi-Lo" tone. There is a separate control box that times the opening and closing of those doors. Definitely check that one out if you can find a test time for it.
Awesome area that you moved there are lots of sirens in Long Island!
As I may have mentioned in the videos, I grew up hearing the sirens, but gave no thought to them other than something that existed as part of my environment. Now, older, I'm curious about the sirens, as well as the history of the Island I grew up on.
@@DayTrippingAdventurer yes I recommend to look for is minolia Long Islands old sd10s some have been removed and some are still up
That Model 2 looks like it actually has power. Unless that silver box I caught a glimpse of is something else. 🤔 As for the Thunderbolt 1003, you are correct! They have an additional control relay for the solenoids that can give them 4 additional signals. Aside from the usual Alert and Wail signal, they can do Hi-Lo, Alternate Wail, Steady Pulse, and Pulsed Wail.
At 6:20 the Thunderbolt 1003 sounds at noon everyday in Hi-lo signal but if it does maybe check it out one day.
I'll keep my ear out for it.
That Thunderbolt 1003 at 6:20 was recently repainted Red, it used to be a bright yellow. Nice find!
It did look newly painted.
Next siren Ohio
There is no way he's going to Ohio for some siren walk findings
Yeah that's siren rare only next day
Hey theres some sirens you haven't seen yet the state is Wisconsin theres fs sirens new to you is aca and asc theres sentrys and more the cities are greenbay Milwaukee and Kenosha
Hey! I'm someone who lives in Clinton Mississippi, literally within walking distance of this siren. It is in fact the one we still use! And it is VERY loud.
I used to live in Grapevine. It got big & it felt like I could reach up & touch the planes from my upstairs balcony. I moved about 30 minutes SW of ftw. It's quiet out here.
As a resident of Pasadena and a fan of architecture I enjoyed this very much, Great job! Thanks!
9:51 it’s right there bruh
That’s a nice video. We live in Massapequa and I learned new facts from you. Thanks.
I hear that back in the day. The few selection of cities that did get sirens installed had them installed on traffic light poles.
Scream Master is my favorite siren!! Though they aren't used for their old intended purpose anymore, I just find them really neat!
worst case senario, you get arrested. lol
Are you doing a siren tour around dallas?
@SirenofTexas Went there for work and they put me up waaay outside city,so was unable to see any sirens. Hopefully I can get back to see some in the future.
@@DayTrippingAdventurerThere some Federal signal 2001-130 sirens in Dallas and there are some Whelen vortex R4 sirens in Fort Worth
