Welcome to the Traveler channel: I do a lot of hiking, camping, city trips, and some bushcraft. Doing all that traveling I thought it was a good idea to share my experience with you. I tested a lot of gear over the years and I like to help you decide what gear suits you best. I don't create a lot of content but I'll try to make it as comprehensive as possible to give you the information as objective as I can.
I hope you enjoy watching the video's and wish you happy times in the outdoors.
Greetings,
Wim
PS, I'm Dutch so the words may come out weird sometimes, apologies for that.

Best Victorinox for bushcraft
PS Someone justly pointed out that the hiker in the beginning is the climber. Sorry for that mistake.
I will go over a selection of knives to help you decide which one is best for you. It is of course only a small sample of what Victorinox has to over but it's a good place to start.

Bark River mini Kephart - field test
Might be the best camp knife around. A small field-test to see what it can do. Only downside is its price, at least in the Netherlands. Compared with Mora Classic NO.1 lam, Scandi vs convex (no price comparison) CPM-3V green micarta ~ 200 euro transport 40 euro tax 80 euro = very expensive knife! Filmed by my son.

Opinel Garden + Oyster = great new knife DIY
I wanted an Opinel with a spearpoint blade and a No09 handle that is more waterproof than the standerd wood. I combined the blade of the Opinel Garden knife with the handle of the Opinel Oyster knife. I takes a little bit of adjustment but it does work. Greetings Wim For opening the ring I used a video from VineClimber with the title; The fastest way to remove the collar from your Opinel knife?

Joker Ember or Joker Bushlore?

The Joker Ember is very popular as a bushcraft knife. Do you want to change to the Joker Bushlore? In this video I test them side-by-side on some basic bushcraft tasks. Enjoy, and I hope it helps you choose. Greetings Wim Thanks to Boaz and Milan for filming.

BPS B1 vs BeaverCraft BSH3
In this video I test two knives from the Ukraine. The BPS B1 and the BeaverCraft BSH3. Both bushcraft knives are under 50 dollars. I will do betoning, feather sticks and more. Greetings Wim Thanks to Boaz for helping with the filming. To name a view has to be a few (stupid mistake) at the end of the video.
Casström Lars fält vs Mora Lok
I will test the Lars Fält and the Mora Lok side by side. The video has a short overview, testing of the 90° spine, batoning, feather sticks, tip strength and some cutting. I hope it will help you decide if you like the knife enough to buy it. Both are great bushcraft knives but they each have their own characteristics. Greetings Wim Thanks to Boaz en Daniel for helping with the filming.

The ember is too thick for it's size
Great video. Thanks.
Great comparison, thanks for the time you put into this.
The chisel and file come in quite handy for whittling. It's much easier to make anything concave with the chisel and the file is great to smooth out the carving lines which is especially great if you carve any tool with a handle, like a wooden mallet. It's just much better to use with a handle that's filed smooth. Also, the saws are the two thinnest layers you can have on a 91mm Vic, so adding the file and chisel to a Huntsman doesn't really make it all that more bulky or heavy. You can also use the file to file your nails and clean under them with the tip which as you said is quite handy! The Ranger is just insanely tool dense and in my experience every tool on it comes handy when bushcrafting.
Good point, It comes down to how often u use those tools compared to the volume and weight. For me the huntsman is more than enough 95% of the time. Having said that, I usually also have the Ranger at the campsite. As long as the tool works for you, you can carry as many layers as you want. Or as many different knives. Greetings and enjoy, Wim
Greetings Wim
Super informative video
Wow, this unboxing video of the Sigmund knife is absolutely amazing! The details you provided are so thorough and helpful. I’ve been considering getting one and this video really showcases all the features perfectly. The close-ups and your explanations make it clear why this knife is a top choice. Thanks for sharing such a cool and informative review!
Dank, niet overdrijven he...
I've been using mine for years now. I modified it by sewing 4 molle points under the pack so i can attach savotta sleeping pad with 2 straps. My main complaint with the bag would be the narrow shoulder strap area. If you have a relative big chest its gonna be uncomfortable. Also the shoulder pads are too short, i wish it ran a little more down, again chest issues. All in all I love it though mainly for its authenticity and durability. I'm a sucker for external frames.
Thank you for reviewing one of my designs, The Bisonte. 👍
You're welcome, it is still one of my favorite knives. Both in design and functionality. Always take it along to Sweden for some use. Keep those designs coming. I didn't know you had a channel, I subscribed. Happy days, Greetings Wim
He Arnoud, Je hebt helemaal gelijk. Groet Wim
If you want the best value knife i can recommend the green army knife (08 version). It's the same size as the two big ones you covered, has an incredibly strong and thick blade with a much stronger locking mechanism. It's missing some features such as the cork screw, but the amazing thing is how cheap you can get it. It's issued to every soldier in the swiss army, the second hand market is full of more or less new ones. Got mine for 30 bucks. Obviously only an option for people in / around switzerland. One interesting thing to note is that the flathead screwdriver is also locking and can take a lot of force, useful for breaking open stuff or loosening very tight screws.
Sounds like a great knife, i will try to find one and see if i can get it to the Netherlands. greetings Wim
Supeer cool, great cameraman again❤
My favourite is the Outrider - same as the Rucksack only with scissors.
👍 cool video
Very cool
That's not a hiker. That's a climber (openers, blades, scissors and corkscrew) The hiker has a saw instead of scissors and the phillips screwdriver instead of the corkscrew. On my backcountry trips I always take the ranger but my urban edc is a fieldmaster.
you are right, I hate it when there's a mistake in the info.... so stupid to oversee that. It was my first knife a long time ago. I should have checked it. Fieldmaster is definitely a great option screwdriver for the corkscrew. Anyway, thanks for the correction.
I have most models... But my most used and carried is the Ranger!!!!
P.S. I'm an American but both of my maternal Grandparents were born in Holland !!!!(Amsterdam & Rotterdam)
Hi, so you're practically Dutch. You speak a little dutch? The ranger is a great knife. PS the European championship soccer starts next week. The Dutch have a great team. Wish you all the best. Geniet van het buitenleven en blijf gezond.
@@traveler5898 My Mother always said "you're not much, if you're not Dutch".. lol..my Grandparents had a Dutch Bakery in New Jersey. My Great Grandmother (c.1881) introduced the family to many Dutch meals!Thanks... Long live the Queen...!!! Lol..!!!
Lots of history...
The ember grind is too wide. It should be brought halfway up the flat of the blade
Any knife that is ~4mm with a scandi doesn't perform the best that it could. Flats or saber (like the lynx) are best at 4mm+. I reground the Nordico for a higher scandi grind and the performance is drastically better for carving
I choose Joker Ember!!! Thanks.
Good knife, had it for years now and still like the way it performs. Greetings
The grind should be higher, it doesn't slice food well
Nice summary. For beginners, agree on the mora and Opinel. Every knife person have them as they are very bang for buck. For tropical Singapore axe is not efficient but good for other environments. I highly recommend Silky brand for saw. The gomboy? I think that’s the name is a great starter saw. Nothing cuts wood like a silky haha.
Very cool video
Subscriber number 1000 ❤❤❤

Thanks, almost there.... Nice video's, those cyclers being hit was terrible. What a dumb-ass driver. We cycle a lot in the Netherlands, it happens..... Greetings, Wim from Amsterdam
Beautiful knife. A bit thick for my tastes, but seems nicely made.
Same here, if the knife was 3.5 - 4 mm mm it would have been perfect. But it still performed better than expected for the thickness.
@@traveler5898 I agree about the performance.
Let's be real. it's beyond OVER price. I Have a feeling thier not making much of it due to it being shitting on their shelves for some time. you are buying a basic mora with a wooded handle..it can't beat a mora Garberg 100%. Shame on Mora. Shame!
Absolute favorite boot. Their MD rock is an incredible boot as well, but I lean more towards the slimmer Safari. Any idea on where an American can purchase another pair ? I can’t find any of the safaris on eBay for a few months now.
whats the difference between the bushlore and the bushlord?
I believe they are the same but depends on the market. So Europe is Bushlore, US and others is Bushlord. It's something like that. Greetings
Still use my Mora classic no1 and companion a lot. And a lot more affordable indeed....
Good review and clear assessment of what we do with our knives. Still loving my Mora 546 for a camp knife, saves a few hundred bucks too
I file down the spine on my standard Opinels to give a slight drop point. The Garden is great and also mods well, both the handle and blade (makes a good sheep's foot). Just found your channel, good stuff, thanks
Slow down, accuracy is better than panic cutting
You are correct, I always feel I have to hurry up to keep the video short...
Thank you😺
Hello. I see these boots everywhere on Internet for peanuts. Does anyone know why is that? Is there some known issues with them? Cheap copies perhaps?
Hi, check if they have vibram soles. The old model had different soles. Most of the old models had bad midsoles and fell apart after a year or so. The new ones are pretty good. (defense version) Greetings Wim
switzerland needs an army like a fish needs a bicycle
I have had Tilley hats since 1985. I have had two of this Airflow model. Worst hat Tilley ever made. The brim support, maybe a wire?, collapses and the brim flops down over your eyes so you can’t see. Tilley replaced one of them, but same result. It is unwearable and I wear other hats instead.
Thanks. And I’m thankful that I got the bps knife. Mora was my second choice, but I like the look of wood more. Nice to have my purchase justified. Thanks
I have a few knives with exposed pummels ( Mora Garberg , Joker Lynx and Joker Nomad ). I prefer a knife without them as I find it more comfortable in the hand . In fact my favourite handles are on the Mora 2000 and Mora HD Companion both of which are a great fit for my size 9 hand. Back to Joker knives the Campero and the Nessmuk have well shaped handles too.
Hands down the Brisa is the best of the three
That depends on what you're using it for.
And the size of your hands.
I bought this exact knife a while ago . Unfortunately the handle was not large enough for my size 9 hands and so I returned it . What do you base your comment on ?
Brisa is a great knife but has a thin handle. Compared to other knives in the test and other knives that I own.
Wat een heerlijk filmpje
Ember is a great knife. Compares well to even a bark river.
Great knife indeed, and if you don't like the pommel you can look at the Nordico. Lot's of choices on the Ember theme.
I love the way you make your video review, just a simple backyard looking and nothing fancy. Straight to the point. Appreciate that you willing to do this review for the Brisa Trapper 95, as soon as I mentioned it last time to you. Maybe you wanna try it out against the Casström Woodsman, Esee RB3 & Mora ash series next time.
I did order a LTwright bushbaby. To put against the ESEE RP4. As a sort of camping knife with bushcraft possibilities (light).
Coats, suits, boots are the true clothes every man should own.
I have the Joker Trampero in a flat grind with a micarta handle. It is around £75 in the UK. Very slicey blade but I feel the handle could be more "Coke bottle" shaped.
yep, handle is missing a bit of volume.
