Well sir I don't mind such challenges Gaelic/ Celtic????? those close related languages are as multiple as Spanish choices. and I don't speak Gaelic but I can easily read those words if written briefly in folklore. Gallic/ Galician/ Gaelic/ Celtic including Italian I can feel my relationship reading similarly pronounced words. or studying culture secrets of the past.

My 3 cat's names are: Betsy, Claude, and (my favourite), Beau! they are all related as Beau is Betsy's brother, and Claude is Bestsy's son meaning Beau is Claud's uncle!

Learning the Gaelic language will unlock the door into the Gaelic Culture through the music, poetry, literature and mythology of our forebears. My father was born in Canada to of Lewis immigrants and spoke Gaelic until he entered school. My mother's kin had immigrated from the Highlands in the 1840's as Gaelic speakers. I have always had an interest in the language and now with Duolingo I have been pursuing the language. I am specifically interested in the music and highly recommend Julie Fowlis, a contemporary singer from Uist. A language will not die if people use it.

Your accent is beautiful. I wish you had said it slower line by line though so complete newbies like me could learn it. I have slowed down the video but it's still too fast for me. I guess it will come if i keep trying. Something to aim for, i guess.

Point of note- Wales is not an Island (you showed a Welsh flag at the start). Cool video though, good effort man. Your Scottish accent at the start was not bad too, very few Americans I've heard get it right.

Why don't more Scottish people learn this language? Make the kids watch Peppa Pig in Scottish every day, and by the age of 5 they'll be fluent. Don't ask me why I know this works.

I am Scottish… don’t speak one single word of Gaelic and am now becoming very aware of that fact, and feeling very ashamed of that… if an American tried to speak to me in my native language and i don’t have a clue how to say anything I would be very disappointed in myself… 🤦‍♂️ I think I better make an effort to learn some of it.

The problem I have with Duo Welsh, is that after doing well up to unit seven, I started getting bombarded with a whole set of new words new words sometimes in the same sentence. I am still a very new learner not the 'Amazing Memory man''. I will keep on, keeping on, but Duolingo could be a lot more helpful, Da iawn dioclh!

As an American whose now spent just over a year dedicatedly trying to learn Gaelic via daily apps and whatever scarce books I can get my hands on at Highland Games/Celtic Diaspora shops, I've been very anxious about whether all of my efforts have been for nothing in all my time spent learning the language when I have very little chance to practice it with another Gaelic-speaker. Though I have one or two friends also learning it, their lives unfortunately haven't allowed them time to dedicate anywhere near as much time to it and they've not been able to advance beyond the very basics). Just finding this video and listening to it without looking at the screen/subtitles and being able to effectively comprehend at least 90-95% of your conversation renewed my spirits that what I'm studying is actually taking root and that the time and money I've invested in my informal studies haven't been totally for naught. Thank you so much for making this video!

I think they're doing the right thing in Wales. If they can pass the language on to children who become fluent speakers even when Welsh is not spoken at home those children might hopefully grow up and have Welsh speaking children where Welsh is the language of the home. When I went to school in the 1980s it was still a rarity to find fluent second language speakers of Welsh but now there seems to be loads of them!
