In Cornish, Sevi = strawberries, sevienn is a strawberry, it is one of the class of nouns that is collective-singulative with the default being a group of objects, and then adding the suffix -enn to make the singulative from the collective noun.
The same concept exists in Welsh.
I always found it quite interesting that Cornish does certain things differently rather than seeing it as an obstacle in learning the language. One other thing it does is use a singular noun with a numeral rather than a plural.

You could try SpeakGaelic for learning Gaelic, because it’s really good.
