Well said! Love your videos with the editing and all, but this one felt more like a discussion and it was great! Good idea to save the fancy ones for once in a while. I can't imagine how you manage to do it all! Time management and how to avoid burn out could be a great topic :)
It was too relatable.. One more thing ur painting is too detailed.. I luv it anyway luv from Kerala.. ❤
You're so lucky to be so gifted.
That'd be amazing to experience 🤞
It's giving fairycore. 🧚♀✨and what a smart, cute idea with oranges and outdoor wood with paints. diy mushrooms 🍄💕
Brooke, this was the most realistic video I've seen about different platforms. I'm dying inside laughing! 😆because I did everything backwards 😭💀 omg.. And being and artist myself I can relate to this so much. Thank you for posting your art Journey and being real about it. ♥
oh wow I am not techy at all and have no idea how to do all the phograpghy and editing myself. I guess more money needs to be spend to hire someone to do that.... and more money to have professionally scanned
People misidentify skill as talent because it takes the ownership off of them for actually learning the thing and developing the skill. For instance, if they perceive you just have the innate talent at something, then that's the reason why they can't do what you do, not because they've never once tried, let alone tried for 5+ years straight.
That's a really good question. Thank you for answering it. I'm also a believer of doing what I love and I want to do more art. <3
🫶!
Great video. I’m a musician and have released seven albums worldwide- and I only have 90 followers on Instagram and even less on Facebook. Almost zero on my UA-cam channel. And I don’t care one little bit. I release a new album about every six months and I don’t even look at my social media pages between releases. Music is just a hobby. I don’t need validation from anyone. In fact, I tell friends and family to please NOT give me any feedback on my music. I don’t want to know. If they said they “loved” it, I wouldn’t believe them anyway. (They love me so what else are they going to say?) I do not read or reply to comments. I don’t put my real name on my work and don’t talk about my music to anyone. It just feels too self-indulgent. Those who drone on about their hobby quickly begin to bore people. It’s a hobby meant to bring me joy. I don’t bother other people about it and don’t care what anyone else thinks of it. What makes me sad are the artists who chase “likes” and followers and those who think pouring their cup of water in the ocean will make the sea level rise. They get depressed if they don’t get thousands of likes and followers. I wish more artists would simply create for the pure joy of it and not for the unrealistic expectation of fame and fortune. Good luck on your continuing journey! You are very talented.
"The more you focus on developing your skills and becoming the talented artist you know you can be, the more opportunities will present themselves" ,this hits deep haha! Amazing video Brooke!! Thanks for sharing and your dedication is so inspiring!!!
Omg you are so talented and gifted, i wish i could draw like you one day, for now let me get this apple right, that i have been trying to draw for last 6 years.
Talking out of context but you are so pretty
Can I know ur earrings brand ? So pretty❤
I'm so sorry Reddit is so shitty. It really is the best and especially the worst of the internet. Wish I knew about it at the time so I could have asked a question from my way too old account. 😂 Hell yeah for your thick skin, though.
I've been binging your videos because they're wonderful. This one is like you're speaking to me from the future. I also have the occasional post "go viral" and damn, you're describing it exactly. Thanks for sharing your experience. It's helping me see the right path through all the clickbait "do this thing or you're garbage" nonsense. You rule. Keep kicking ass.
🔥🙌
how do you sell as a begginner and how to do prints and know how to price your prints and
Good topics to discuss! ☺️ I have made a video about making prints, here it is: ua-cam.com/video/0nB8ZT-fxxw/v-deo.htmlsi=JHGqkt_C7oU-c522
ty I watched but it means I have to invest in camera and editing school
The most impressive part of this is living a very similar life (moving from Toronto to a new country as an artist being in tones of different locations) and somehow you're making fire videos 🔥 it's very impressive. Your dedication is shining through!
Bought the sta-wet years ago, have yet to use. Glad you like it, will try it out :) How large is your studio? Mine is TINY.
Just discovered you. Fellow Canadian who is a few years older than you are, just starting my full-time art career. Your journey, and videos are so very inspiring. All the best with your move!
I love those abstracts !
In year five of painting I have given up with the niche idea. Thank you for that affirmation!
Hope you feel more free now too! 🙏
Flapping my gums! Haha! I haven’t heard that “in a coon’s age”! 😂
absolutely not. But if you want sustainability you paint waterfalls and sunsets because people will always buy something with a lot of color. But either way, if you're not stacking your various interests, you will have nothing to show for all your hard work.
I think it becomes a balance of doing what “works” to sustain yourself financially, and then experimenting and exploring to sustain your creativity!
Lovely painting and video, thank you! I love alternating painting with travel. So much easier to find inspiration “out there” - and good to leave the studio for a while so you can miss it a bit.
Paint what you love.
🙏
Thanks for some more fun and inspiring content!!
Wonderful video! And just on time because that's my problem right now...and I came to the same conclusion that you confirmed and my heart is much lighter now. I am already excited to watch your next video :)
I’m glad to hear it Alexandra ☺️🙏
this was a great video. This is the perspective that i've had for a while when ppl talk about "Talent". I feel that this word is mixed with "not worked for" but it's the complete opposite.
I adore your cinematic videos but being able to listen to this video AND pack my dishes away at the same time really was a morning productivity win for me 😜
Hahah I love that, thanks Michelle! 🫶
Thank you for sharing the experience! I have been making pc indie games which I view as creative work for years. Trying to find my way to make it work financially. Even when I got to learn things and improve in each project, it still raise doubts at time, I feel like I have been going nowhere for years. I used to be one of those getting called as talented in specific area as a kid, growing up enjoying the activity (still am), along the way I also meet amazing people and I got to learn a lot from them which I still am really grateful to how lucky I have been to this day. But it requires a lot more for me to learn for what I'm trying to achieve. At times I question myself whether I could really make it one day, why am I so bad at my work, and random stuff which I believe we know it is just in our head, but they kinda appear in the process (Or is it just me? haha 😅). Your video cheers me up and makes me feel like I'm not alone in this kind of journey. Thank you very much! 🥰
Came for the artist advice, stayed for the Katherine Hepburn voice or whatever that is LOL! Cheers from Las Vegas and Bon Voyage.
I like what you said about working on the quality of whatever we find ourselves doing in a season. I feel like the niche or the overall style is actually easier to see when looking back as opposed to imagining what it might be at the beginning of any career really. Sure you have a vision in the moment, you obsess over certain styles or techniques, and that makes us better. But it will inevitably morph.
Well said! 👏
Eheh flapping your gums. Flap away 😁
😂🙏
yes, I missed you !
Great video! Thank you! Not only did I have a huge sigh of relief about not finding my niche but ALSO I loved that your video was less scripted, etc. All the tech stuff has intimidated me from starting my own channel. A more relaxed and non-edited video, I could probably handle!
So happy to hear that 🙌 and yes this type of video is much more manageable haha
Why are you dressed like Jiminy Cricket?
🤣
Agree 100% - I've been painting all my (long) life and still haven't found my niche. I've always felt that it must get boring to always do the same old, same old. I like to try new things and experiment with stuff!
Amen! 🙌
Thank you - what a relief <3 Looking forward to the next one!
Thanks so much for watching! 🙏
This was really cool to listen to. Thanks. Nice to meet you. I'm Carla from Toronto ❤. I needed to hear this. 🙏
Thanks Carla! 🥰
It's a good job it's cold in Canada because you are Sooo HOT! Regards handsome man from the UK
love the idea of just talking! It gives you more time and is giving us a video of much value too! win win
Thank you for the feedback! 🙏 glad to hear it
🗣️🗣️🗣️ "If the art is good, you'll find an audience for it" 🗣️🗣️🗣️
Obviously that's not true. There are tons of good artists with good work that hasn't sold.
I think it is true! I didn’t say “if the art is good, you will sell it” I’m taking about finding an audience and that also requires sharing your work. If the art is not selling but it is “good work” then it’s because of a marketing issue or a pricing issue
@@b.cormier I think it would be really enlightening if you did an aspect about this side of things!
Love it and I can’t wait to see what comes next!
Thanks Alissa! 🥰
Wonderful message and great format! Thank you!
Thank you Jeremy! Glad you like the format ☺️
I appreciate the format of this video. I'm trying to improve my videos myself, and being stuck on the "how to grow your channel" side of the algorithm is pretty exhausting. It's refreshing to see videos that aren't hyper edited and optimized have an audience. You're such an inspiration!
Thank you! Really happy to hear this feedback as I think this style video is SO much more manageable haha and I think it will help me be more consistent too. Hopefully the algorithms give us some grace 🙏
Omg! You have said this perfectly! It’s been my belief too about talent and lucky! Thanks it nice ear it from a other artist!❤
5000 like WTFFFF YESSSS
we neeeeeed more videos like this please
