SPRING PREPARATION AT THE ALLOTMENT & Roasting my home grown squash 🍂🌿 VLOG #26
The time to start reflecting on the past growing year and preparing for spring 2025 is well and truly here.
It's a wonderful time, full of hope. In this video I plant out my onion sets, clear away the runner beans and replace them with broad beans. Excitingly, I received a tonne of manure so many barrow loads later it's on the plot and ready to go on the beds to feed the soil over winter.
I hope you enjoy - A big thanks for watching, liking, commenting and subscribing, see you soon! 💚

Put a layer of compost over the runner bean bed Dora ,they're actually perennial. Next spring they will reappear when mother nature decides it's time to start growing again. Your bag of manure seems to be well rotted and ready for active service . Only 47 more wheelbarrow journeys to go .

I’ve not yet… but I’m thinking I may get some MORE to do that 😂 having too many onions surely isn’t a thing 🤞🏻 I’m also interested to see what any difference may be and whether they’d crop a little later than the autumn planted?

Gosh Dora! That gave me huge " The Holiday" vibes. The music and the visuals were very on parr with the holiday. Loved it!! Yay for the Fig! I really need to plant my onions too! This week I promise! Great update. Danny 🌱

Thank you Danny, such a compliment ☺️ - although I hope it didn’t remind you of Christmas 😂 so excited about the fig!! I may have to keep it at home though if I can find a good spot for it. Are you going to be planting your onions into the ground pre spring, or keeping in modules/pots until then?

@doras.allotment oh the over-wintering onions ill be planting out within a week. If you keep them in the trays until spring they'll stress out and go to seed. They over winter fine outside don't worry. Some do go to seed anyways. Eat those first. Then in early spring I'll plant spring planting onion sets 😊🌱

Looks lovely there at Lucknam Park , hope you had a happy birthday Dora. I really love the old style gardens from days of yore especially the walled kitchen gardens.
