BenQ PD2706U: Great budget monitor for content creation!
In this review, I check out the BenQ PD2706U, a budget-friendly monitor aimed at creatives in the graphic design, photographic and cinematography workspace. This monitor is feature-rich for a relatively low price point while maintaining relatively high standards.
BenQ did send me this unit to test out and evaluate but did not pay to have it reviewed; all of the opinions on this monitor are my own.

What motherboard did you use to build the system with the dual 3090 GPU’s? You list the processor like that’s enough information. What motherboard did you use? The motherboard has to have enough physical room to support dual GPUs. The motherboard is important. It’s by far the best computer you’ve ever built, but no clue as to what the motherboard is.

@@vtrandal wait, a motherboard is important!? If you watched the video I literally explain which components I use, but I'm guessing you haven't watched it yet so the motherboard is the ASUS Pro WS WRX80E-SAGE SE. cheers.

I mke $4000+ per month on Microstock using drones. I make videos on how I do it.
How do you render out just audio 1 if you made it mono?
You would need to create a 'New compound clip' by right-clicking on the audio and choosing that.
Hi All, I heard there are issues with ghosting with this monitor? How bad is it ? Since everything about this monitor makes we want to get it.
Hello, great video, thank you so much for it! Could you let me know if this monitor supports HiDPI resolution/settings? I have an M4 Pro Max. Best regards, Simon from Germany
Hey Simon! Thanks for watching! It doesn't have Apple's definition of HiDPI at 5k, but it's actually better. The 5k resolution and standard DPI work great with M3 and M4 chips. The sharpness and clarity of the text looks great, better than 'retina'!
Hi did you use mac or pc with this monitor
Both! :) Works great on either OS.
Hey man! I have a similar build to yours that I had for years now, but recently somehow I forgot how to get in there and control my cpu performance or even control the water pump and fans. Ryzan Master doesnt seem to be working either and cannot install it again :( wondering if you had any off these issues and what app do you use on the windows side to control the cpu power and fants etc? or only thru bios? sadly now the machine is set up for me to remote control into it while i travel so I cannot get into the bios and started to notice cpu temps to go up on ideal. Hope you can help me find a solution here :) thank you
Let me just say it out loud. Nine. Minutes. Of battery life. Yeah.
What type the motherboard is atx matx ?
Great right to the point review. Thanks!!
Thank you for your nice review. I am evaluating this monitor for audio production and general productivity. Can you share how this scales with Apple Silicon? I might run at 1.33x magnification for readability and am willing to sacrifice some clarity. Running at full resolution would be great if text and UI elements are readable. Best regards.
Just bought the G3223Q, but the blacks are pretty washed out. It was $500 cheaper than the U3223QE so I can live with it. It's nice having 144Hz if you need it
Nice monitor! Can I use with thunderbolt?
Nice review, Thanks for making. Question, I'm a Finance guy, how do Excel spreadsheets look on a curved monitor?
Thanks for watching! There honestly isn't much of a curve (maybe like 5-8% at the most). I love working with grids and tables on it and it doesn't warp the image at all. Looks pretty much 1 to 1 like a flat screen.
Thank you for your VLOG. The first thing i noticed was your monitor height. I made the big mistake of raising the monitor arm to the top and it can not be released. Im looking up at the monitor and it gives me a headache looking upwards all the time. I have just been on the phone to the DELL help desk for 3 hours going from department to department and "NOBODY IN DELL HELP DESK" KNOWS HOW TO LOWER THE REAR MONITOR ARM SO I CAN LOWER THE MONITOR TO MY DESIRED HEIGHT. HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Are you using the included Dell monitor stand or the Dell 2-point articulating arm?
That being said, it may be in your best interest to remove the monitor (place it somewhere safe screen up) and then adjust the stand manually that way by unscrewing the tension screws and seeing if that works.
@@District7DrewGeraci Thank you for the reply. I have done all that before i messaged you. Dell has sent me 3 emails since and have wanted to replace the entire monitor. How ever the replies from Dell are suspicious to say the least. For example, Please reply to this email with the following 1. Todays date 2. Case ID 3. monitor Tag ID 4. Complete home address 5. DOB 6. Bank Account details of purchase 7. Any previous names. I think anybody would become suspicious of these emails sent by " ANY COMPANY" through these third party systems in place with Dell. I would have thought Monitor Service tag & Case ID would be enough *?* Any help is appreciated.
@@District7DrewGeraci Dell tech came to my address and gave me a new stand and works as it should. Thanks & good luck.
@@dannieduplessis2432 That's great to hear you found a solution!
Great video! I've been trying to work out how you have your two laptops setup in the 'Connectivity' section of the video. It looks like you have both the Dell and the MacBook connected to the monitor via a single cable - USB C? Are you getting the full benefit of charging and access to peripherals with that one cable on both laptops (depending on which laptop is selected)? If so that is exatly what I need so I'm hoping so, but until coming across this video I was beginning to get the impression it wasn't possible as the monitor seemed better suited for one laptop and a desktop setup (rather than two laptops) as I think there's only one thunderbolt upstream port!?
You can only have (1) OS hooked up to TB at the same time (and there's only 1 upstream TB connection anyway, but you can daisy chain off of it). The only way I could connect and operate both computers (with Windows and MacOS) was 1 computer on TB and 1 computer on HDMI + USB-C. That will allow you to use the hub on the monitor (and be seen by both systems, but you can only transfer to one system at a time). Hope that's helpful! I have a desktop and (2) laptops hooked up to it and LOVE it.
@@District7DrewGeraci That is very helpful, thank you! Just to check, do you have the 1 desktop and 2 laptops connected to the monitor all at once (obviously only being able to actually select one for use), or is it only ever up to any two of these computers?
@ only 2 is possible with data transfer. I usually have a laptop and my desktop hooked up or my two desktops hooked up through KVM.
The ips glow in this model is embarrassing!
Hi, thank you for the showcase. I've just got this monitor but it got the yellowish white I've always hated in Dell monitors (white is just yellow). It's disappointing as I've been waiting for it got in stock for a while now! Anytips please :) ?
I have the same monitor, I am having issue using external powered usb hub when I use the monitor with may MacBook Pro m2 via thunderbolt 4… no one of the items connected to the hub works (tried different hubs). On Windows instead everything works fine. Have you experienced same kind of issues?
Yes, it's the way that Apple sees the device (monitor) and I have the same issue. Windows allows you to see each of those ports as separate ports but Apple doesn't.
(That's not Dell's fault, it's Apples).
@@District7DrewGeraci I didn't know about this limitation from Apple... Consider that I previously had a Gigabyte M32U (KVM version) connected via USB-C to the MacBook with the same configuration, and everything worked fine, including the peripherals connected to powered USB hubs plugged into the monitor's downstream ports. It's annoying, especially after spending 1800 euros on a monitor. Do you know if there's a way to work around this limitation? I have 4 Stream Decks, an audio interface, a Loupedeck, as well as a mouse and keyboard, and I'd really like to use everything...
@@gianlucaluisi8695 Try plugging in a TB3/4 cable into the non-monitor TB port and see if that fixes it. I never tried that but it might work.
Excuse me, but does this monitor also have a "noise effect" all over the screen because the display coating is matte? This is especially clearly visible on large areas filled with one solid light color.
No, that's just from the camera filming the screen and the camera capturing the pixels of the screen/fresh rate. The monitor is flawless; I think they have some at Best Buy if you want to see it in person to ensure it matches what you're looking for.
@@District7DrewGeraci Thanks a lot for your response ^_^
Is the text readable at 100% scalling?
Yes. Works great! Super crisp and sharp.
Thank you for your response. I plan to use the screen mostly for programming and 20% games. Screen estate is important for me, so I want to be sure that I can read comfortable at 100% scaling.
I'm only really gaming on windows, but the comparison with the woman specifically, I have yet to see a game actually be that different. Maybe it's just my monitor, but it's a lot less obvious than that. I honestly prefer SDR in sRGB mode colorwise.
For those interested in this monitor: please be aware that this monitor seems to suffer from a production issue where affected panels are damaged with scratches over the entire width of the monitor. I went through multiple replacements, but 3/3 monitors (all produced May '24) suffered from this issue in varying degrees. My model from July '24 does not have any scratches, but does have some green bleed at the bottom part of the monitor. Not really the kind of quality control issues you expect from a top-of-the-line monitor meant for video editing.
@@jwmeyling I'm sorry to hear that man! Yeah definitely don't settle for something that has defects on it. Dell is usually great at replacements but I'm sorry to hear it took 3 of them to get it right. I love this monitor and I hope the new one you have serves you well!
@@District7DrewGeraci totally agree! Mine were replaced within the week so support has been great (: and now I finally get to enjoy the most advanced monitor there currently is on the market
Coolest freaking monitor on the market right now. great review!
Hi Andrew, thanks for your review, but you have one inaccurate information, an important one, this monitor doesn't have Adobe RBG, only DCI-P3, sRGB, and Rec 709. Only the SW series, the Photographers series have it! Cheers
Awesome! I'm using a BenQ PD2706UA with Ergo arm and I luv it. I created a black sticker to cover the bottom of the monitor and it solved my problem tbh.🙌😄 Great Video! keep up the great work and greetings from Romania!🙂
@@DilanThimira woot!! Great idea about the sticker on the bottom 🤩 thanks so much for watching!!
Can you use the thunderbolt 4 as data upstream to use the usb connectors ?
@@12Burton24 I'm not understanding your question - can you articulate it a bit better?
@@District7DrewGeraci Because of one letter too much you are unable to understand it? Im sorry try to make the question easier: Is the Thunderbolt upstream there to make a data connection for the USB downstream ports or do you have to connect a usb cable on the upstream for the usb downstream ports.
@@12Burton24 Yes, you have to connect one of the USB-C ports to your PC to have functionality in the other ports to non-monitor devices (as is common in every other monitor out there). Thunderbolt works as both a monitor type and data type so as long as there is a TB connection to your computer.
@@District7DrewGeraci but is it possible to just use the thunderbolt and get a data connection on the USBs of the monitor or can you just use thunderbolt devices and no usb devices if just thunderbolt is connected
@@12Burton24 You must plug in one of the USB-C connections and link it to the computer to active the other (4) USB connections on the monitor. If you wish you use the Thunderbolt you can only do so with the monitor inputs (it does not activate data for the USB ports). The thunderbolt is really only used for daisychaining monitors and not for data (but it still may be possible, but I haven't tried it).
DP over USB C is supported?
Thank you for this video. Very useful. But, I wanted to ask, do you have somewhere examples of real rates for the footage? How do you sell (or how is it bought?) per second? Per clip? Where can I find rates, the real numbers, to have an idea how much my footage is worth? Thank you!
Thanks for watching! Quite frankly, there aren't any real rates or charts with today's licensing setups since most organizations want full rights in perpetuity or royalty-free. If you manage to get a Rights Managed license don't charge too much; perhaps $1500-4000 (depending on how rare or unique the clip is). If you're going for a per second rate, it's usually $75-150/sec depending on on the terms (for TV and Films). You should always aim high though and negotiate downward. Subscription-based licensing has killed the licensing game as we know it today so big pay-days are few and far between.
@@District7DrewGeraci THANK YOU FOR YOUR ANSWER!!! Very useful!
Outstanding video, sir! thanks for your thoughts, a few of your points exactly answered some of my searching.
Thanks for watching and glad it helped!!
I got subtitles, a banner and than the video, multiple clips. When i follow this all gets split up, so if i got 10 clips i get 30 files. Some idé what i am doing wrong?
If someone else wonder how this can be done, i rendered the whole clip than split that video up, any way better so yu can do all in one go mby?
You must combine into a new clip (all of the things you want to export within that clip). Select everything you want in the same clip with your mouse on in edit tab on your timeline, choose, Right click, "Choose "New compound Clip" rename it to what you want and you're done :) Hope that helps!
@@District7DrewGeraci thanks for the anser, that was kinda the solution i did. Will sub and check for more useful tips ;D
best video!!
Hi Andrew. Thanks for a great short review. How would tou describe text on this monitor (under different circumstances)? Is it very sharp and clear and easy on the eyes after several hours? I do a lot of reading on my monitor and different kinds of writing, so text is very important.
Спасибо!
Thanks for watching!
This screen is not working for the MacBook Air! You don’t get the 120hz.
It only works on the M3 chip (Apple limits the FPS on the M1 and M2).
Thank you so much for making this video. I needed to chop up a video to make meme's that are not currently available but your video helped me out and saved me hours of time. Thanks again
Yay! I'm glad it helped! Thanks so much for the comment and for watching!
Wish they would make a 16x9 version.
Woowwww 👏 Review that conveys honesty and sincerity. Short video that shows the best and worst of this monitor. Top Video. I really need your help and your opinion: I work with Webdesign (Figma), Content for social networks, Programming/Coding. To relax from work and the stress of deadlines, I also take the opportunity to watch some series or films on the monitor. I'm undecided between the Asus Proart 279cv, BenQ PD2706U and Lg 27un880-b or the Lg 27un880p-b based on your experience and knowledge, which of the four do you think is the best purchase? I would like to take this opportunity to ask what is the difference between the Lg 27un880p-b and the Lg 27un880-b?? I became a fan of your channel and you gained an active viewer. Best Regards
I'm a photographer and I already have an Imac. I now want a second monitor for my Macbook Pro so I can edit in my photo studio as well, and I'm looking at this one. Would the difference between the 2 screens be very different? My imac is really contrasty and shiny, and this one is matte. Any opinions about this?
Great video 👌Epic Channel 😃 Congratulations. I really need your opinion: I'm interested in buying the BenQ PD2705U monitor, what do you think about this model, would it be a good buy? My fear and doubt is that it has 250 nits. Based on your experience, do you think 250 nits is enough? I'm going to use this monitor for web design, programming, and also for watching movies and shows. My office has a window that I usually leave open. The window is 4 meters away from the monitor. What is your opinion?
It tops out at 400 nits, but the average is somewhere in between 250-350 for normal use; it's definitely a solid monitor and if I didn't already have better (more powerful monitors) I'd definitely buy this one, especially since it's fairly priced and delivers a ton of features.
@@District7DrewGeraciThank you very much. Super video. Super person. 👌 Best regards 😀
Purchased it recently with advanced 3Y paid support/replacement service. from the day one issue with TB connection to laptop. Warning a very expensive headache with poor TB4 KVM hub hardware. TB4 connection drops randomly disconnecting wired ethernet and most annoyingly in the middle of conf call. Only way to restore it by switching on/off monitor power. How embarrassing output from a £1.8k product. TB also stops PD to laptop. Otherwise it could have been an excellent buy. Dell support proved to be joke. They have been dragging troubleshooting beyond 14 day cooling off period for return so that online support team can wash their hand with it. They don’t even want to share a complain procedure.
What cords would I need to connect this to a M2 Mac mini? Like does it have to be thunderbolt or HDMI 2.1 to get full resolution?
So would you recommend this monitor for a graphic designer working with InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator?
@@dennisdeuster definitely! I use it quite a bit for illustrator and photoshop. Ultra sharp.
great video, very clear, I'm gonna buy this monitor
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching and good luck with the purchase!
Nice I went with the PD2725U
Great choice!!
Everyone uses the same stock music, so stupid🤦🏻♂️
Look at the thick bezel. That’s not ultra slim. And DP 1.4 for that price is disappointing.
This goes at $1799 currently, I got the Neo G9 57" from BestBuy for the same price. 7680x2160, tons more room. Oh, and DP 2.1 and 240hz. It performs exceedingly for productivity and gaming. You're future proofed.
