In the corner behind the blue piano the old bubble helicopter i spent hrs playing that thing it was red back then , my dad was a air traffic controller back in the day at this air port guessing 1968 - 1975 i was probably around 8-11 yrs old wow never thought id ever see that thing again if my memory serves me correct there were little green trees you had to avoid hitting it was all made of metal pretty sckookem belt actually know that i think about it . Dad use to take me up in the tower i remember the metal tight round stair case that led up to the tower where i would sit and watch vodoes , concord and many air shows [front row seat] even talked to the odd pilot , yes the escalator stairs looks the same wow thank you for the child hood memories .

VERY interesting that the city burned to the ground a few times in the 1800s. Apparently that is a pretty common trend with old North American cities in that time period. I highly recommend a channel called “my lunch break” to learn more.

I’m from Saint John NB, which is established as Canada’s oldest incorporated city. This is the first time I have ever heard of such claims about St. John’s. I wonder if it’s just a hopeful tale that’s not actually making it to anyone’s attention beyond the borders of Newfoundland? Kind of like how Saint John claims to be famous around the world for its “Reversing Falls” rapids, which in reality no one from outside the city has ever even heard of, haha.

That is an issue worthy of its own full video. St. John's appeared on a map as early as the 1540s, but there was literally no one living there. A big historical event occurred on the shore of St. John's harbour in 1583, and this is sometimes thought of as the year the city was founded for some reason, but that wasn't the case at all. Permanent settlement started around 1620. You have to twist yourself into a pretzel even just to determine when the city was founded, let alone how to justify the claim that it's the oldest city in North America.

Likely given the same treatment as Puerto Rico or worse 💀 I rarely hear Americans discuss, with interest, any area beyond California, Florida, or New York. Newfoundland would’ve been better off with the UK or independence than being some exploited or neglected territory for the same Americans that invented the word “Newfie” as a slur to call Newfoundlanders while mocking their intelligence. As for it being apart of Canada, I couldn’t say how much better than independence it is, but I’m sure many would agree it’s better than most alternatives.
