Love the idea of you suggesting an itinerary. Our plan is to land in St.John's and work our way up to Twillingate over a 10 day period in July. We will have a look at your Summer on Newfoundland's Bonavista Peninsula video.
Your comment on that other video was part of the inspiration for this one haha! Thanks for the great question, and thanks for the idea 👍I will make the itinerary video, and in the meantime I hope the Bonavista one is helpful. Actually check this one too, it's another quick trip from St. John's, a very easy day trip: ua-cam.com/video/Z2RxqTkfc2M/v-deo.html
😀 Hi, Mark- thanks for sharing the beautiful sights of Newfoundland and your love of the Province! The videos you've shared are visually amazing and I've really appreciated learning about Newfoundland from someone who lives there vs. someone who is passing through as a tourist. Thanks, as well, for sharing videos of areas of Newfoundland which aren't typically promoted as major tourist spots, so that outsiders can get a better appreciation of the Province as a whole. You're doing a great job with your channel and I've enjoyed seeing the progression in your content. I'm not a content provider, so i don't know how difficult it would be to add chapters to your longer videos, but (from my perspective) I believe that it would be one way that I'd possibly get more enjoyment out of them (as a viewer). It'd definately make it easier for me to share your amazing content for specific areas when introducing your videos to friends and family. Is adding chapters to your longer videos something you'd consider?
Thanks so much for the kind words. When I upload videos here, I always click on a box to auto-generate chapters, but to be honest I don't think I have ever checked to see if they actually appear. I appreciate you pointing this out. Yes, I definitely am willing to add chapters (I thought I was adding them already!), and I will take the time to do them manually since they appear to not be working otherwise. Thanks again!
I have made the ferry trip many times and have acted like a tour guide to so many people coming to the island for the first time.......they appreciate this of course and I actually love offering advice to them so they get the most of their trip......I know what you are saying in this vid and it is a much needed piece of a newcomers trip to the island for sure..........good advice Mark.
Really good video. I wish i saw this before I planned my recent trip there... while I found out most of what you said here... It took me sooo many hours to piece everything you said here into a few minutes. We (me and my son) flew in from Orlando, FL into St. Johns for 5 nights/6 days. So we had a very short trip, and decided to just do the east coast as to not loose that much time driving. Our stops were: St. Johns, Quidi Vidi (signal hill included here), Petty Harbor (aquarium and Chafe's), Bay Bulls (whale and puffin boat tour), Cape Spear, Ferryland (for a dinner show), and as far south as Mistaken Point (the UNESCO site was awesome!). So we were VERY busy. We did actually have a little time our last evening on the island... so drove to conception habor for the shipwreck! We also saw some cool scenery and a small train museum along the way. I would love to go back in the next few years, and make a longer trip to get more inland and see some of the other spots. One thing that no one seemed to mention along everything is how rare a gas station is! We are used to seeing them almost every 5 minutes here... Keep posting videos, and if you want a Floridians input on anything, i am happy to help!
Thanks so much! I think I might have recommended your exact itinerary for a St. John's area trip, with Mistaken Point being a nice stretch destination. And Conception Harbour being in a different direction from everywhere else you went, I have to say well done again for making it there... and on going there on a bit of separate trip. Please do come back, and please do keep watching my videos. I'll do my best to get you the info you need BEFORE your next trip!
Hi Byron. Definitely. Can you tell me where you're starting from? When are you going, and how much time you have to spend? And do you need any ideas for kids, or just adults? Gros Morne is unbelievavle altogether, but Western Brook Pond is where you'll find the iconic fjords. Stepehenville is a cool town that feels a bit different from any other town in Newfoundland because of the heavy American influence. It's a pretty small town but it's bigger than I realized so there are lots of things to do and places you can go. The Our Lady of Mercy church in Port au Port West is just a short drive from Stephenville and is worth the effort to go see. Corner Brook is really nice overall and there are lots of things to do there too. I'm not sure everyone would call this a "must see", but I do... if you have the time (and if you're any kind of history buff), I strongly recommend going all the way through Port aux Basques and heading in to visit the Harvey Gravesite at Isle aux Morts. It's very small but the Harvey family story is amazing (google Ann Harvey Isle aux Morts if you don't know about this family). And then go all the way in to see the lighthouse at Rose Blanche-Harbour le Cou. This is my favorite lighthouse on the island. And it's just such a great part of Newfoundland that I feel like most people overlook.
@@mark_royle_newfoundland Yep it's putting me off coming. I know about that car sharing platform but am not quite sure about the safety of it. I may just try to find a package tour where I don't have to drive myself. Do you have any recommendations?
@@samanthathompson9812oh I remember us talking about this in the comments in another video now. I don’t really know of any specific tour operators like this but I bet there are some. I’m gonna check into that.
Here's a suggestion for a quick day trip from St. John's that is well worth the drive: ua-cam.com/video/Z2RxqTkfc2M/v-deo.html

Great video . Gives me ideas on how to plan my next visit.
Thanks Monique, I hope it helps!
Itineraries would be great
Ok I will work on that one then. Stay tuned!
I love your videos! A 2 week itinerary from port aux basques would be awesome.
You got it, stay tuned! (FYI 2 weeks is a nice amount of time that will give you a chance to see a good chunk of the island and not feel rushed)
Hi Mark.
Im planning a trip on the west coast of NL.
Gros Morne ... Stevenville etc ..any suggestions for must see distanations?

My wife and I are travelling, thank you for recommendations.
Can you still see icebergs in June?
It’s never a guarantee because every year is different but early June can still be a good time for icebergs
Step one, save for a couple of years to afford the car rental. 😂
Actually that's a good point. It's madness during the summer. Little better once summer ends but they reeeeally gotta fix this

@@mark_royle_newfoundland Ah sorry. I guess I have a one track mind. Appreciate any good recs from a local.
As someone involved in the touristy business in Newfoundland for years this made laugh because it’s so true.
