Matts Off Road Recovery Wouldn't Drive This Far - Self Recovery For Us
Join us as Keri and I take our Jeep on a thrilling solo adventure at Bundy Hill Off-Road Park, where we're mapping out trails for OnX. Our journey takes an unexpected turn on the "Mild to Wild" trail when our Jeep sinks into a deep mud hole, leaving the front end submerged in muddy water. With our 40" tall tires buried and the frame stuck, moving forward or backward isn't an option.
Watch as we tackle a complex self-recovery operation using multiple snatch blocks and soft shackles, battling against weak trees and muddy conditions. After several failed attempts and lots of hard work, we finally manage to free our vehicle. Exhausted but victorious, we navigate the easiest path back to civilization.
This video is packed with off-road action, problem-solving, and a testament to the resilience required for solo trail adventures. Don't miss out on the excitement and challenges we faced in this unforgettable off-road recovery mission!

City boys buying 4 wheel drives. LMFAO!
People need to stop renaming trails this is upper rock garden always has been its all the rock they mined from rt 7/11 in the early 80s wanna say 83 84 ish those steps and concrete walls driving along the river were to houses that were up on hill before they blasted that section out if you was to pull out enough of those rocks youll find debris from the houses look at the rocks youll see holes from the drilling and blasting
It’s July 5,2024 now. Did you make it to the top yet?
@@ros335 🤣😂
Slowly crawling or slowly sinking 🤣
Love the DBBB. Never been here before. Going to have to try it someday. Great video. thanks
Thanks. It's worth checking out for sure
Which do u recommend kbd or the hooke road? Either set id be sanding and painting. So the cheap crap coating is not big deal
KBD all the way. I've been running mine for 4 years and have only noticed a little fading of the black plastic.
@discover4x4 is the actual structure ok on the hooke? I'm not worried about the finishing. As either way I'll paint match them. You have anymore pics of the kbd, I have heard they tend to bow being poly
Lower the tyre pressure! 🙄 Wrong technique!
What do you recommend
@@discover4x4 let out some of the air from the tyres once off the tarmac road. Swivelling the tyres back and forth a little bit while in motion helps avoid getting stuck.
Are 09 muranos/ 2nd gen subframe work in a 06/1st gen?
I would cross reference that part on car-part.com
What driveshaft are you using?
I had some made at a local drive line shop. 1350 rear and 1310 front.
@@discover4x4 ok nice thank you
Idle is never the problem for us 40+...it's the sound at 2K RPM under a moderate load at speed. Sometimes it's not the drone always but just a certain loudness.
We are going to be there in September! Thanks for the info!
What's the 1st rule of off road club??? 😂 You thought you needed new clean gear but apparently God just wanted you prepared 😉
God knows best
You need to build a heavy wrecker 😂
If there was a reason for one I would
Wheel the whole east coast and get stuck an hour from home. This is the one time I'm glad I wasn't with you cause I probably would have tried to make it.
Truth!
Paul's Off Road Recovery! 10/10 would recommend! Gotten me out of a jam or two!
We know a thing or 2
Do you guys have a snorkel?
We do not. Had one on our old Jeep. Generally I just try to avoid deep water
@@discover4x4 it would be a cool addition!
Beats using a stick or a pen! These are great, I've used them a lot. They are simple and easy. These and a decent air pressure gauge are prefectly good for most, even though they need a little more attention than the automatic ones. The only thing about doing it this way is the tire sensors in most vehicles will lag behind. By the time the PSI number gets to the dash, the actual tire is many PSI below what it reads. And, they may not send a new number when not moving. The Jeep may be better, but I've had this trouble with my Tahoe.
Good point on wanting to pull these off a few lbs before the number you want. Example: if aiming for 20 psi pull the deflator around 22-24 psi and give the dash reading a minute to tell you what you're really at.
Awesome! Can't wait to get back out on the trail with you all!
Us too!
Would it be cheaper if I went with a 4.8-5.3 I roughly estimating 12k-15k
Not too much. You might save $2000 tops in my opinion and you would be disappointed you didn't go with a 6.0.or 6.2
Is it still 4 wheel drive ?
It sure is!
I like the edit. Nice job. I want to drive this trail again, so fun. BIG PAPA DOING DA DROPA!! 😂
Thanks for making the trails so fun
Great job on that trail!!
Thanks bro! Hopefully we can link up on the trails again soon
@@discover4x4 absolutely! Sadly we probably won’t be doing much this year. But definitely gonna be out again next year.
Congratulations, I had no idea!
@@discover4x4 thank you! And we’ve been keeping it a secret! But we absolutely love her already!
Best guides in the business!
Thanks Brian!
Greetings from your spring Shore2Shore.
👋👋 Hope all finds you well?
Looking to possibly do this to my own JK. I assume the whole exhaust comes out, and you weld in the new resonator?
Correct, you can also use a clamp to install the new section in case it ever need to pull it apart again.
Those work awesome we used those for years at silverlake can’t walk away from those lol
Automatic stop at 1 atmosphere of pressure!
Get better tires
What would you recommend?
@discover4x4 those nitto ridge grapplers that should come on them given it has all that 4wd stuff on it. Not make you buy some stupid package just to get the tires. I got that xp package on mine the tires work great.
I used the MAPP and loved it til I saw it was 3x the cost of propane. I used it for wrenching too. But maybe I'll try propane out cause I'm cheap as dirt haha. Good video exactly what I was looking for. Real life temp comparisons on someones project. Thanks.
Thanks for the response
Not better, just different.
Definitely
Can you do my tundra ? I’m in Columbus Ohio thanks
Not till the fall
@@discover4x4 ok sounds good. Let me know where is your location and the business address, please thanks
@8:55 I'd be ready to fight my spotter... 😅

Sweet! What rails was that Blue Jeep sporting?
Those are Rock Slide engineering
Nice! I was looking at adding those to my set up.

So 20k😂
In 2024 $, yeah
Hey is there anyway I could get in touch with you, I seen the video of you making the rear control arm mounts is there anyway I could buy a pair from you?
Qsandmerip@Yahoo.com send me an email, we're on the road for the next few weeks but I can make a set after we get home.
Is it really now????
😂
How much does a repair costs?
I'm not your guy if you're looking to pay someone to do the repair, but you'll probably spend somewhere around 2500.00 at a shop.
Where is your shop
Toledo OH area. I'm only working in the winters now. We travel the rest of the year running adventure trips now
Free feet content. 🎉
First ones free
Subaru can do this, with tire-pressure-down mode and turn-steering-left-right mode combined.
not worth the price for 100 degrees!
I personally have found it to make a difference enough when getting bolts loss

Looks crazy good! Wasnt expecting such dramatic change in look from a few inch lift.

That valve stem install kit is pretty cool. I bought one AFTER i needed it. So i used it to replace that stem at a later time. It works really well. One thing i did, is get an empty pocket sized hand sanitizer bottle and fill it with dish soap. I keep that little bottle with the kit and now I'll always have lubricant for it.
Fantastic advice! I'll be doing that
