I disagree. If Tamayo had played Lena HU and was checking a solver after each hand, i think people would have been equally outraged but it wasn't just for HU, it was the fact Tamayo was checking the laptop throughout the final table in every hand he was involved in.

People seem to be missing the point here. Think of the poker community like the stock market or the banking system. You see a player profit say 300k in one outing it's not them just making 300k. Very few of these high rollers play with their own money they're usually backed by multiple other people that have a piece of it. They also do a lot of side bets/investments. Considering that every player is like a company whose stock rises and falls you can pretty quickly see how easy it is for people to have a difference of opinion about how much who is owed what. There is an explicit need for accounting when you play like this. Now a lot of these top players well all know all have their money entertwined with each other. When some new kids come on the block and start racking all of a sudden it's like the 08 crash where all investors start calling back their debts and no one wants to give out. You have a bunch of people that owe a bunch of people. This glitz and glamour system you see on TV is largely funded trust in that system/players to keep winning and paying out. For most people it's a clever way to get to the next level of life but I've always found it a bit disingenuous. Most of these guys aren't worth or aren't making the kind of money it appears. I actually wonder if there are any top notable players that don't take loans and doesn't hand them out. I'd be much more likely to root for someone like that.
