I just found your channel by chance, hello! 👋 I also love a novel by Saud Alsanousi that happened being translated to my language this year, I think it's original title is Saq Al Bamboo. Also I joined an online book talk last month with him being one of the speakers, he is a humble person ❤ Hope that his other works will be translated too in my language

The first law trilogy is absolutely AMAZING, I've only read the two first books and I gave both of them 5 stars, the blade itself was my first fantasy book ever and I heard so many good things about the trilogy so I was really excited to start it and let me tell you it did live up to all my expectations, the characters are absolutely awesome and the way they were written was brilliant (I ended up LOVING all of them), I still have the last book to read and I'll do eventually but I hope you'll enjoy reading the trilogy as much as I did and the hype is absolutely real, I was a little worried at first like you because I didn't know if I would be able to read all the books, but after reading the first book I couldn't help but follow up with the next one and I hope you'll do as well, happy reading !! ( I did read the books in French, I think whoever translated the book did a really good job, I wish my English was good enough so I could read more books in the original language but unfortunately especially fantasy books I don't think I have enough vocabulary to fully appreciate the books)

I would love to try this, but I just 100% know that I would fail because I still have far too many books on my tbr 😅 I'm at about 160 books on my unread shelves 🙈 good luck with your challenge!!

Very excited to follow your challenges along, and maybe it will help you through your reading slump. I find it freeing to get through books I've had for ages, like ticking off an item on a to do list which I procrastinated way too long. For the last 2 years I wrote down every book I bought and read, and set myself the goal of at least not buying more than I read. Works surprisingly well to see the numbers and helped me to decrease my TBR by 32 books. Also made a point of clearing up my unread audio books this year. PS: I think I read "Longitude" ages ago, now that I see it in your video! I remember it was easy to read, hope you enjoy it as well.

Hope you succeed, I have way to much tbr…I would urge you to get on “The Blade Itself” but you have to be ready to read all three books, cause the first book builds the series..the less I say the better. San Dan Glokta…

sapiens is an evolutionist oriented work and Yuval's book is not even scientific, it's based on evolutionist claim, why don't you read Sami Amiri's books he's underrated in the field of debunking pseudoscience such as evolution theory as an idea that species evolved from single celled organism i think me as a Muslim i have to have a basic idea of the argument against Evolutionists especially that it contradicts Quran explicitly.. and we have Sami Amiri's books in this field hope you can explore them

Just wanted to point out that the author of sapiens is an Israeli, i would look into whether he's a Zionist or not (most likely if he claimes an identity of being an Israeli) and I would avoid promoting his works if it was me. Edit: Wanted to say that I love your content, and I am excited for your journey in getting ur tbr list down to zero (something I'll never get around it lol) I only pointed this out as another concerned Muslim in the event you weren't aware, hope it didn't come across as anything malicious.

The description of characters being 'name muslims' except Ali is actually very telling of REAL muslim countries and empires. Muntadhir and Ghassan are modeled after Mughal kings who were central/South Asian had multiple women around drank and had opium made GIANT plush gardens with waterways and canals. Ghassan is your average Muslim leader of any state who uses religion when it politically benefits him. Also for the alcohol- i think thats a fantasy thing bcz the djinn hate water!! so when nahri ASKS for water with her meal nobody gives her any I found that so strange but then the aversion to water later made sense I would not call this islamophobia- I think it's the opposite. Its unapologetic and not written for white OR conservative muslim gazes. The characters were who they were because they chose to be NOT because Islam did anything. Ali facing ridicule for his faith is not unheard of even in Muslim communities. S.A Chakraborty did not just USE islam as a plot tool to chase clout- she did it realistically for which I LOVE her writing even more

I love how this series is so HEAVILY inlaid with cultural stories and legends and names from everywhere from Kazakhstan China India to the Moroccan Algerian lands brooo 😭😭😭😭 it was a TREAT to read something non white finally that too in fantasy! Also yeah. Everything Daeva related is Persian and Afshin and Daevastana are part of Zoroastrian faith and legends. There’s even mentions of rivers and waters bcz djinn don’t fly over those these are common stories in Pakistan/India because Pakistan has 5 rivers so the second book where someone says ‘the Agnivasnha believe their rivers protect them from ifrit’ or smt it was such a delight to read that 🤣🤣🤣 also the jokes land different. There’s a squabble that comes before Ghassan where an Agnivansha and Tukharistani are arguing and he insults the mangoes and the Agnivansha (Indian) man is said to ‘have been so insulted as though he insulted his mother’ 🤣🤣🤣 All in all- S S Chakraborty did a brilliant job. I feel English speaking readers not native to these areas do not understand how MUCH effort was put into this book. She deserves all the praise.

I first read this book a few months before I graduated high school in 2014 and it was one of the few books I read for school that I’ve bothered to buy my own copy of because I like it that much. I really enjoyed this review, thank you.

I read this book a very long time ago and it still ranks as one of my favourites. Khaled Hosseini is indeed a master storyteller. He is extremely talented at creating characters that come to life and making you so emotionally engaged in their plight that they stay with you long after you're done reading.

i read this book when i was 14 years old. im 25 now and i think back to this book every now and then and wishing i could re-read it for the first time again.

So glad we'll be on a book buying ban together 🫶🏻 I bought a BUNCH of books during my trip which ends early next month and I won't be buying any books until i finish my physical tbr. The only exception I'm giving myself is R.F Kuang's new book coming next year

I’ve tried a book buying ban a month ago and failed after two weeks. I admire your self-control. I’d like to be able to get to a year without buying anymore books. I have a good amount of unread books that I need to catch up on, too.

I'm doing a modified book buy ban. I have 48 books on my TBR. I'm doing the #readwhatyouown challenge. No new books till I'm through my current TBR. This should take me about a year.

Same here Rana. I gave up my career as an artist which led me to rearrange my office back to a fun/hobby room and I started buying books to fill the shelves that were holding my shop inventory before. But I like to attempt a low-buy year in 2025 in general. If I want a new book, I'll check my library first or buy the ebook (I'm quite good with reading my bought books, it's just the space issue).

I am excited to hear this!! My husband and I are on a low-buy challenge from October 2024 to April 2025. So this feels very inspiring! You can do it 🙌🙌

I love this book. The novel was adapted into an opera which premiered in my city. Khaled Hosseini was there for the premiere, and it was so beautiful. I cried throughout.
