I remember not caring much for the sets, finding them overpriced and too childish-looking (Be it for the roundness, the colouring, the simplicity; it just didn't feel like what i used to play with as a kid) So having little to no money i only got G2 second wave Lewa + flying beast thing and kinda forgot about the rest. I still wish i had money as a kid because stores were filled with unsold G1 bionicle taking dust but by the time i got a job at 19 they were either sold or thrown away

I LOVED this analysis, I agree with you. I even teared up for some reason, somehow discussions of this movie when I'm 29 touch me deeper than when I watched it several times as an 8-year old. I guess themes of responsibility and courage weren't relevant for a child.

Something worth noting about the Olmak is that only two of them were ever made (not counting the ones from other universes, anyway), both by Artakha. So even in-universe, they were extremely rare, to the point of bordering on Legendary Masks on their own.

It's an interesting idea, and it would definitely fit Teridax's MO. That said, I think psychically influencing the Shadowed One into going to war is a bit overkill and in-universe, probably unnecessary. Metru Nui is a known strategic target and important location, even without the context of knowing it's Mata Nui's brain. The Dark Hunters would have a vested interest in conquering the city regardless, and we've seen that said desire persisted even after the Toa-Dark Hunter War, given Dweller's continued presence in the city. Or in short, Teridax would have no need to mentally manipulate the Shadowed One into trying to take over Metru Nui, he'd just have to wait for the leader of the Dark Hunters to get ambitious enough to try it himself, because it's a predictable move. It would just be a matter of when it would happen, not if it would happen.

Truly amazing! The Principles are very fascinating and I love this context! The idea they were developed by the Turaga in response to their time as Hordika is a cool angle I love!

I was a massive fan from the early days, felt the bars magma stuff separated the story from what it was too much but stayed interested. Hated the simplistic G2 stuff and the changes to things like the toa of air/jungle. Onua being simple was quite the off put too.

I don’t suppose that if the Element of Light had a Principle, it’ll be a culmination of the 3 Virtues (Unity, Duty & Destiny) and it’s enemy would naturally be Darkness (Shadow). So if anyone has an idea of what would the Principle be and what kind of Skill would it grant, I’m all ears.

3:28 I'm glad you brought that up, in Tale of the Toa there's a scene where Tahu's being pinched by scorpions and it always drove me crazy because I just thought of them as mechanical.

Nuparu was a lot like Takua. A very strange and outlandish individual. Unlike Takua, Nuparu seemed to lack the leadership, heroics, and will for adventure that were needed to be a Toa. Nuparu didn’t really have those Toa-like qualities until the Bohrok arc. After being saved, he began to take charge and found the will to fight. In a way, Whenua was right. His right and left hand Matoran ended up saving the life and inspiring a future Toa.

Something I just thought about when listening to this. When Takua used the Toa Stones to summon the Toa Mata, he was supposedly exposed to the energy inside them, so why was he not turned into a Toa himself?
