    Roodaka comes riding in on her giant Kahgarak.
    Turaga Takanuva, on the back of a humongous Pewku: "Aw, that's cute."

    can't forget, pewku originally belonged to orkahm, so she was at least 1000 years old by the time takua met her, but likely older, as when orkahm had her, she was strong enough to pull around pretty sizable carts

    • @heroranuva8295

      True, yeah we know Pewku was at least 1000 years old!

    This actually gave me an interesting thought: What if Pewku's growth spurt was a result of Takua being rebuilt? After all, they have such a strong bond, I can imagine her unconsciously willing herself to be larger so Takua could keep riding her. Heck, she was technically big enough that he could have kept riding her as a Toa.

    Interesting theory. The only thing I'm still left wondering about is the implications behind the poles that controlled the Manas in MNOG. Is it a sign that Makuta rebuilt the "natural" Manas to be more loyal and vicious compared to normal? The Manas always seemed a bit more artificial in their MNOG portrayal compared to other Rahi

    • @heroranuva8295
      @heroranuva8295  2 роки тому +9

      Huh, I hadn’t thought about that, that’s a pretty interesting idea. Makuta’s influence making them less natural

    • @Bionickpunk
      @Bionickpunk 2 роки тому +5

      All Rahi are artificial beings, so some looking more mechanical cause tank threads is not big of a note. We had 4 Rahi in 2001 with tank threads, so the movement design might not be something done later by the Makuta, and is just the creatures "natural" body design. If it was otherwise, we would have the matoran and turaga comment how these do not look like standard beasts they know prior, since at least the Turaga existed during the time of Metru Nui (with their memories intact) and archivists like Whenua would know about all kinds of Rahi.

    I see it as more makuta took the old ussal/manas and rebuilt them, he's a Makuta he would have experience, instead of improving it for it's own benefit, he made them more hostile and gave them treads, to make them easier to move through tough terrain, the ones at karzani's Island are probably (at least in my head canon) pewku but on steroids, like if they would allowed it, let 4-6 regular matoran, 4-5 rebuilt matoran or 5-7 diminished matoran, but they are violent and treated as guard dogs because maybe they were treated poorly and eventually took it out on anything, eventually becoming manas
    Though a cool thought is Takanuva And Jaller riding an even bigger pewku all over the matoran universe, sphears magna and people looking an aww as takanuva makes this slow but elegant entrance

    The Manas also are drawn to heat, the hotter it is, the stronger they become.
    In the story, the Toa Mata defeated Them by Freezing them solid.
    But Pewku clearly has no issue in Extreme cold since we see her in Ko-Wahi in Mask of Light. A place no Manas Crab would dare to tread.
    🤔
    We also have to remember that the Makuta were the ones that created all the Rahi beasts. From the tiniest Ficko to the Mightiest of Tahtorak.
    Meaning they know how to not only create...but Alter Rahi...its possible The Manas were created from Ussal crabs as a way to taunt the matoran for there bond with the Ussal.

    Never thought about this or any sort of Rahi "evolution" but this is honestly interesting. I was expecting something more like Makuta took the Ussal and then experimented with them with viruses and such to make bigger and nastier crabs, but it being a natural potential growth path akin to living crustaceans is interesting.
    Also IDK if this came to mind but: if the Ussal do evolve into Manas (which I've seen other comments also describe as more artificial), it would be a parallel to the Makuta evolving. One of their main rahi they use (correct me if I'm wrong but besides Visorak I think manas seem to be the ones the use the most/are most associated with Makuta) goes from a standard form into something more unusual for an inhabitant of the MU, just like how the Makuta went from normal biomechanical beings to antidermis.

    • @heroranuva8295
      @heroranuva8295  2 роки тому +3

      Ooo you’re right that’s a very interesting parallel!

  • @heyheyitsjae2475
    @heyheyitsjae2475 2 роки тому +17

    An interesting thing to note is that a handful of the 2001 Rahi seen to be dark inversions of Matoran pets
    The Manas are simply evil Ussals
    The Nui Rama is simply an evil Gukko
    The Kane Ra is simply an evil Mukau
    But that's about where the similarities end. Nui Jaga are just big Kofu Jaga, but the Kofu Jaga we're never really kept as pets. There aren't any other cats or lizards from Chronicles to really parallel the Muaka or Tarakava. If this was an intentional story element, you'd expect the Husi, Mahi, Dikapi and/or Keras to have parallels. Ect.

    • @heroranuva8295

      Huh, yeah that's very interesting! Makuta basically chose the most dangerous versions of the Rahi Matoran have in their lives.

    • @Luka1180
      @Luka1180 2 роки тому +2

      Simply? Not so, are they? Nui Rama are considered insectoid rather than birdlIke, and Kane-Ra like bulls while Muaka are seen as tigers.

    • @heyheyitsjae2475
      @heyheyitsjae2475 2 роки тому +3

      @@Luka1180 Nui Rama and Gukko are both large flying animals frequently depicted as fighting in Le-Wahi. While not the same animal they're clearly presented as rivals with the same skill set.
      And I didn't say Muaka, I said Mukau. The Combiner model of Pohatu+Gali. Kane Ra is a bull and Mukau is a cow. Those are both cattle.

    Clearly this is just another example of convergent evolution, seeing as the crab form is the peak body design even among the crafted species like Rahi.

    I just assumed this was the case playing MNOG as a little kid because they are both crabs, also there's symbolism of characters being the smaller versions of bigger guys, like Matoran and Toa.

    Did the Toa Metru bring the rahi to Mata Nui?

    • @heroranuva8295

      It appears that the Rahi migrated on their own through the tunnels, many of them doing so to escape from the Visorak during their invasion of Metru Nui. In Maze of Shadows, while the Toa Metru were trying to return to Metru Nui, they encountered many Rahi from the city that were fleeing for their lives
