    So adding on to that cause I see you had to simplify the shot itself a bit. It’s all about having fingers and forearm relaxed and bent, then squeezing them together while straightening the elbow and that’s making the shot. With the right grip of course to play back into the court Also you’re a bit too close to the shuttle for my liking, every time you end up with your elbow bent after the shot which means you could take it earlier/higher or didn’t have to move that far

    • @TheBadmintonZoneHQ
      @TheBadmintonZoneHQ 3 дні тому

      Yes it’s all about trying to stay smooth and relaxed while under pressure. Interesting observation regarding contact point, having looked through again it looks a nice relaxed position to me, straight arm without being locked out. You’re right in saying though this shot can be played from numerous heights depending on where you have moved from previously. Aa always thanks for taking the time to comment. 👍

    If the opponent manages to get a straight lift return from your first net kill/drive, is it your shot to hit or would it be your partner that would cover that?

    • @TheBadmintonZoneHQ
      @TheBadmintonZoneHQ 10 днів тому

      It’s a good question. We would generally say the player that is already in the mid/rear court as they are probably still closer to the lift. An instance where this may change is if the player that has hit the kill is a rear court specialist they may use this as a time to rotate as a pair and get into their favoured formation. Generally at club level we would see the player that hit the kill stay forward and the other player go back for the lift. Hope that helps.

    Thanks guys. As usual some really good practical stuff. I'm trying hard to also remember to tilt back my wrist for this shot... must try harder! Stepping back from the net really helps and gives me a little more space and time to pounce forward onto the shuttle.

    • @TheBadmintonZoneHQ
      @TheBadmintonZoneHQ 14 днів тому

    Some real good points and tips but especially at the end regarding partner needing to cover the back if they see you move in but also even sacrificing the back and both moving in to pressurise the opponents. I thought that'll be suicide but even if they lifted you can still get some sort of downward shot to try to create another pressurised moment to attack and kill. Nice!

    Great technical analysis and very game like and relevant for any pair to be able to implement into their gameplay-men’,ladies or mixed doubles. Lots for the rear court player to cover depending on how good that first shot is. Very good video thank you. 🏸

    • @TheBadmintonZoneHQ

    I typically find Asian players more relaxed in ready stances compared to European players. Through my Asian eyes, European players especially the women generally exhibit at least some awkward, exaggerated stances and stroke actions which have to be wasting unnecessary energy. Maybe it’s because they are relatively less flexible or maybe it’s just a cultural norm where they think they need to look aggressive and focused to BE aggressive and focused. Sometimes less is more. As Bruce Lee once said, Be Like Water. An exception is the Stoeva sisters, they are always an absolute delight to watch.

    • @davidchien5305
      @davidchien5305 21 день тому

      Yes I agree with you. The European players tend to stick their non-racket arm out sideways which is very ugly. Not sure where that came from but if you look at LD, LCW and TH and the other top asian players, they don't do that. Anyway whatever works for them! They still do get results, just not visually appealing and cool.

    • @TheBadmintonZoneHQ
      @TheBadmintonZoneHQ 21 день тому

      We think that’s a fair comment for sure, they generally look more relaxed. We are keen to highlight the different styles that are used, then players are able to experiment and use what works best for them. Thanks for the taking the time to comment, we hope you liked the video 👍

  • @jasonlarge6336
    @jasonlarge6336 21 день тому

    I very much liked the interception routines for Jessica at the net, particularly the non racket leg push off and deep lunge stepping up to the shuttle. Also on the flat hitting and defensive shots they keep their racket hand a long way in front of the body giving space to backswing to generate that power. Lovely description of what you have seen on the ground with a top mixed doubles pair and nice clips showing the practice in live play. Thank you for showing some mixed doubles training which is often overlooked.
