    100% agree with the part about being relaxed, It's an issue I identified in my setup of my smash and it is Sooo difficult to try and stop doing. Psychologically its' "if I don't tense then I am not hitting hard" but in reality as I am finding now myself as I gradually learn to relax, the power is there and is so much more accessible, Definitely a work in progress for me, and it takes time to make it that 2nd nature action when in the heat of a rally. Great tutorial series, keep up the excellent content.

      Thanks very much, staying relaxed is definitely easier said than done. Another approach can be to try and think of the racket head moving from the top of the swing to the bottom of the swing as quick as possible. Sometimes the tension comes in when overthinking about the contact of the shuttle and therefore over tense of stop the swing too early. Just another idea to try. Thanks for taking the time to comment

      @@TheBadmintonZoneHQ Agreed anything that takes away the focus on actually hitting is what is working for me so I will absolutely give that a go. Thank you for the advice.

    Great video. I always end up with racket facing upward during swing. Finding it hard to change. A video on jump out/ china jump smash would be great as I struggle to generate power when hitting away from body on forehand side.

    I got a question, if a open my chest then elbow angle does really matter in power smash like fu hai feng has 45 degree angle in elbow and victor axelson and rankireddy got 90 degree in smash posture....and second thing racket positioning....many keeps racket straight aligned to their forearm and some keep racket close to their head and chest ....so does it really matter for more power or less power???

    • @TheBadmintonZoneHQ
      @TheBadmintonZoneHQ  Місяць тому

      We would probably favour the racket head sitting closer to head with strings pointing more forwards. This means there is less to do in the swing and the racket head should come back to contact naturally. I hope that helps?

    good stuff again. ive got a question, do you coach the turning of the grip by 10ish degrees toward panhandle for the smash stroke? or do you stay in the forehand v grip. i've seen both recommended, I've used both over the years experimenting both ways, not sure if one is correct, or if using the small rotation of the grip is bad form in the long run?

    • @TheBadmintonZoneHQ
      @TheBadmintonZoneHQ  Місяць тому +1

      We have always stayed in forehand grip, it naturally means you have more forearm rotation when coming into the shot resulting in more power. How have you found practicing both grips? Have you had more success with one over the other?

      @@TheBadmintonZoneHQ cheers for the reply, having playing around with both i think i probably get a cleaner stronger hit with the 10deg open grip, but not a huge difference. I will stick with the forehand grip and focus on fully pronating to square it up. Cheers!

    With the forearm rotation, should the forearm form a 90 degree angle with the racket or can the angle be higher ? Awesome video btw 😊

      Thanks very much, pleased you enjoyed it. Anywhere around there will be fine but sometimes other factors can affect this such as height of the lift or body position. Hope that helps

    I think where I make the mistake is after I open up my chest area, my swinging motion to smash it down to generate speed is slow resulting in a soft smash.

    • @TheBadmintonZoneHQ
      @TheBadmintonZoneHQ  Місяць тому +1

      Yes maybe, that’s why we referenced the racket head speed as being a crucial area to think about, there are so many aspects that add to power but if the racket isn’t moving fast then it won’t be a fast smash. I hope this video helped you, keep us updated with your progress 👍
