I very much liked the interception routines for Jessica at the net, particularly the non racket leg push off and deep lunge stepping up to the shuttle.
Also on the flat hitting and defensive shots they keep their racket hand a long way in front of the body giving space to backswing to generate that power. Lovely description of what you have seen on the ground with a top mixed doubles pair and nice clips showing the practice in live play. Thank you for showing some mixed doubles training which is often overlooked.

I typically find Asian players more relaxed in ready stances compared to European players. Through my Asian eyes, European players especially the women generally exhibit at least some awkward, exaggerated stances and stroke actions which have to be wasting unnecessary energy. Maybe it’s because they are relatively less flexible or maybe it’s just a cultural norm where they think they need to look aggressive and focused to BE aggressive and focused. Sometimes less is more. As Bruce Lee once said, Be Like Water. An exception is the Stoeva sisters, they are always an absolute delight to watch.

Yes I agree with you. The European players tend to stick their non-racket arm out sideways which is very ugly. Not sure where that came from but if you look at LD, LCW and TH and the other top asian players, they don't do that. Anyway whatever works for them! They still do get results, just not visually appealing and cool.

We think that’s a fair comment for sure, they generally look more relaxed.
We are keen to highlight the different styles that are used, then players are able to experiment and use what works best for them.
Thanks for the taking the time to comment, we hope you liked the video 👍
