Pure Gold!!!! 😂 I’m laughing so loud I’m waking up everyone on the mountain! 🤣
Freaking funny dude! I gotta share this one..
Funny! 👍👍👍
Lynn is cracking me up!!! This is a masterpiece Jimmie!!! Lol
This is awesome Jimmie! 😂😂😂
You are comparing apples and oranges. The Grayl purifies almost everything, including many heavy metals. You don't have to add purification drops/tablets with Greyl so you can drink it right after filtering. And because it pulls out so much stuff, the water tastes a LOT better. People who travel to developing countries take Greyls for this reason. I use both, the Sawyer when I am going ultra light. I also keep a Sawyer in my day back for emergencies.
I have those in my yard and the squirrels get them,at first i thought it had a piece of cheese, they also leave the roots, but the squirrels get them before me every time.
Grayl, no brainer!
Anywhere with woods not at someones backyard.. you cant keep asking him where.. lol there is no specific "place" that is for bushcrafting just go do it
Very Cool Jimmie! Hope all is well in Florida👍👍
Thanks man! It is. As you know our comfortable camping season is just about over and I'm trying to take advantage of it as much as possible.
@@tampajimmie11 Come up here anytime! We can hike foothills or Kayak keowee or jocassee
I'm hoping to make it up that way this summer for some backpacking and flyfishing. I'm usually good for at least one trip up there a year.
That’s a pretty long haul for someone who doesn’t bike regularly. My butt would be hurting from biking that far! Thanks for sharing your trip.
Oh my butt was definitely hurting. And things you wouldn't expect like the palms of my hands and my elbows from so much forward pressure.
Not going to talk about the skeleton that's just casually hanging out in your house? 😅
I appreciate halloween year round.
These are great! I am going to try carving one of these!
Awesome!
Hilarious gotba cedar piece ready to go and Google and Tampa Jimmie pops up...could just got you to mark it last week 😂
U R braver than me, when i get water i never turn my back on the pond, made that mistake one time, hadda funny feeling that something was behind me & slowly turned to B almost face to face with a 8' 🐊, he was just laying there with hz mouth open, i backed up PDQ !!
No bag limits on trash monsters, only stipulation is ya gotta leave the carkuss 4 the 🐊🐊's. 👍🤪👍
Hate to say it but i hv been lazy lately and haven't been out exploring the swamp. i might B gettn old 🤔
Great video. What wood do you use for carving or whittling? Thank you. Scott
I have a helvie rough out knife and a drake detail knife. Some gouges from various companies too.
Fuzzy navel tea … cool impression of Shaun ..
Excellent video 👍🏻 answered all my questions!
Awesome! I usually only do gear review videos if it's something that I'm super excited about or there are specific questions that I haven't seen others answer in their review.
I watched this video quite awhile ago and love the frog. I do have some constructive comments, if you don't mind. Your hands kept going out of frame and focus and it was hard to follow at times. Also your glove got in the way a lot as well. I can say that I am just now starting to carve the frog and am loving how it looks, just difficult at times. Thank you for the design.
Thank you! I will keep that in mind if I film another carving. I need to play around with camera placement to figure that out.
You're welcome. I do love the frog and with rewinding I am accomplishing the carving. I know this frog will be loved by some special education children that a friend of mine teaches.
Good stuff!
My tip broke off a little and I just got it lol.
JUst found mine from a year ago, and the tip is way too thin. Definitely have to worry about it breaking.
@@1qas23 If you have a Scandi grind, the tip will always be thin. No matter who makes the knife.
Nice. Is that a Z-Packs tent? I joke a lot about the "bushcraft" moniker, but Florida (in my humble opinion) definitely qualifies as "bush". I'd imagine the tools & techniques that the Aussies use would fly in Florida. I lived out there for a couple of years. It's single track heaven. Always an adventure. You riding a Marlin? I used to think the stem bags were dumb until I rode some single track with my bottles in their cages on my gravel bike and they kept falling out because I wasn't using a hydration pack. Now I got two stem bags up front. 😂
Yep. It's a zpacks plex solo. I use that when weight/bulk really matter. I'm riding a Marlin 6 that I bought used. It was one of those deals that I couldn't turn down. I know you know how that goes. I go back and forth on if locally we should use the term bushcraft or woodcraft. We are definitely a mini Australia here, but we are still in the lower 48. And our FB group caters to new people who are more likely to search bushcraft over woodcraft.
Looks like a nice place for a ride. Umm, cutting meat on a table with bird droppings? It may be just me, but I think I would have placed it on something when cutting the meat.
So cool, I have to get out of Pinellas more often! Really nice video, editing, and spoon carving!
Thanks man! I took a little break from filming and posting to YT, still went on a few trips. I also took a little break on carving but it looks like I'm back at it. Would be very cool to sit around a camp and do some carving with you!
That would be cool! I spent Thanksgiving camping at Fort Desoto but I haven't done any real (primitive) camping in a long time.@@tampajimmie11
Is that a tarp tent? Not sure if my old man beach cruiser could make it out there lol. Looks so much easier than humping a bunch a gear out there on your back.
The tent is a zpacks. Your beach cruiser would be fine on the gravel trails. The unmarked overgrown trails we explored was definitely challenging on my mountain bike.
Looks like a great trip! Thanks for the shout out! Lol
Haha!
That main blade being a wharncliff is nice. I have one ordered.
Question for you, what are your thoughts on Tannins for both products here in Florida? Grayl precautions show do not use GeoPress in water with high tannins.
I would probably not use it in that situation. I'm mostly planning on using it on out of state fly fishing trips and here in Florida at a spring fed lake I like to fish. For almost all other camping scenarios the sawyer squeeze is just a better option anyway.
Thank you for your response.
Just bought one, yet to receive it. Glad I did now knowing it can do anything I can think of in a camp setting. Nice video!
Thank you!
Hi guys how are you today from Ricky hernandez your friend from Northridge California
Dude, great video! I just hit the bell for notifications because somehow I missed it!
My guy said for straight, ax, murdering I mean I’m chopping wood lol
Pressing the Grayl without the lid turned loose?
Yeah, I forgot that part at first. Haha
Hehe, happens! @@tampajimmie11
I got 2 of them to play with . From my experience doesnt hold edge like occ or flexcut and cant get as sharp. Nice knife to loose and abuse take care
I have since learned that I don't like carving with a folding knife. I do really like this knife though and keep it around for basic pocket knife type stuff.
Beautiful brook trout and you caught them while in their spawning colors too. Hope you guys fished the lake to the left "north" of the first lake there used to be big fish there many years ago when I was there.
Glad to see you got a video of that one! You guys were brave camping out in the heat😅
I had plans go do more camp projects, but it was just too hot to do much other than sit there. Sitting in the shade wasn't that bad. Sleeping was the challenge.
Can't wait for cool weather to injoy hammock camping in Fort de Soto Park
Would of been nice to see in more detail your hammock setup. Although Sam the Sausage carving made up for it.
I feel like I've talked about it a lot, pretty much the same set up I've used for a while. I can do a whole video on it if you think I need to.
the grayle is a purifier and the sawyer is a filter...no comparison
I have both and if Im not moving more than 12km or something, I take the grayl, especially if I'm filtering for me plus one or more people. The grayl wins on speed and ease, as well as removing chemicals if you're close to civilisation and don't know about the water source. Just sucks that it's so bulky and heavy.
If you have one arm... 😂
Good Review Jimmie! Ive also been a Sawyer guy for the longest! I did recently get the Grayl and ive used it twice. it is handy in a day hiking scenario, or in the kayak while paddling(though its tough to press in the kayak) i still prefer my Sawyer and a gravity bag in camp! Just my preference i guess!
My thought is if I'm standing somewhere fishing or on a boat, the grayl makes sense.
The Grayl removes waterborne pathogens and filters many chemicals (including PFAS and VOCs), pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals, flavors and odors. The Sawyer Squeeze doesn't. That's a plus for Grayl. You didn't mention this .
You're right and I should have.
The only reason ive been considering Grayl. Have thought about pairing the Sawyer with a UV pen but not sure how effective it would be, apparently chemicals and heavy metals still wont be purified away. Hope sawyer makes a purifier version someday soon. Aquamira Frontier Max purifies water to the same quality Grayl does, so that's worth looking into, but it's sold out at the moment.
Like almost all water treatment system reviews, it completely ignores the core functionality: how effective is the system at making your water safe to drink.
I didn't think to include that. I should have. I assumed most would already know that if they were watching my video but if I'm going to do gear reviews I shouldn't assume people already have that information
Maybe you should get Jimmie a microscope, slides and a some petri dishes.
Nice review Jimmie! Still can’t wrap my head around that Grail. My friend Andy from Metro on the move loves it. I’m still a Sawyer all the way! 👍
For me it's a specific piece of gear that I will use in specific circumstances.
Interesting review. Thanks for the explanation. I'll have to try the cnoc bag. Ive always used the Smart water.
The Cnoc bag makes the water collection process way way easier.
@@tampajimmie11yes but one filters bacteria the other purifies water of viruses and heavy metals.
Very good review. Always wondered about these.
I feel like the grayl is a very specialized piece of gear. But that's not a bad thing.
